Central location means access can be a hassle since Pirna's entire historic centre is residents-only, parkingwise. Both the drinks and food menu impressively large, although showing a degree of adaptation to the German market, e.g. more cheese presence than would be usual in Spain itself. The patatas bravas are definitely hotter than would be acceptable to the (very chilli-cautious) Spanish palate and I would strongly advise steering away from their fried pimientos del piquillo, which are normally gorgeous but which were, sadly, recklessly spoiled by an outlandish amount of coarse salt. Conversely, their allioli is light-years short of what I am probably not alone in regarding as the minimum garlic strength. The chorizo en vino tinto is great but, frustratingly, it was sliced way more thinly than the cylindrical chunks that are customary in Spain. We tried to order the crema catalana but it was sold out, possibly suggesting it is delicious or that they are not very good at managing stocks, and I would have liked to order turrón ice cream but for some reason it is not on the menu at all. Neither is Russian salad, which, on top of being such tapas classic, would have made a nice counterpoint to the predominantly strongly-flavoured rest of our food. I would recommend this restaurant for a small lunchtime bite but not really for a full-size meal, although obviously much of their customer base would disagree on this, since the place appears considerably popular. read more
