I have been checking their website for over a week & submitted an application & made an appointment…read moreto meet one of their dogs. When I called ahead of time to ask a question about to dog I was interested in, I was told to she was being adopted that day. I asked about other small dogs & was told there was another one on their site. I told her I would go ahead & keep my appointment to meet the dog. I told her I would be driving 2 hours to meet. I showed up & was less than impressed by the facility. The office was in disarray & dirty. They brought the dog out & I was in love. He was dirty & had not been neutered. When I told her that I wanted him & she said "we don't to same day adoptions". when I said I had driven 2 hours, she said I hadn't told her I would be driving 2 hours & when I said I did, he response was that she didn't remember. He could not be adopted until he was neutered & groomed, I asked if I could sign something stating I would have him neutered & her response was no, it had to be done by their vet. She also informed me that my application that I had submitted a week ago had not been processed since it was for a dog that was already adopted. I asked if I could be called when he was neutered & was again told no. This place seems very shady & doesn't seem to have to best interest of the animals as a priority. Stay away from them!

I donate monthly to this shelter because of all the great community work that they do. When it was…read moretime to adopt our next cat the experience was unsatisfactory. It was like pulling teeth to get info from the staff about the 7 month old kitten we wanted and eventually did adopt. 2 of the staff members were borderline rude. The cat area was not sanitary. There were litter boxes for when all of the cats are in the common area that were filled with poop and staff were sitting at there desks instead of cleaning up. The floor needed to be sanitized. I will continue my monthly donations. They will soon be moving to a new location. I consider my experience as rescuing rather than just adopting and I say this with great sadness. I encourage people to adopt from them just so the rescued animals get into good homes. They need that very much. So please adopt from them. They need an overhaul but still do great community work.

This was the best HHFH store I have been to yet! Super friendly staff and tons of interesting items…read moreto look for or buy. Lots of clean and trendy furniture as well as some leather couches, glass dining room tables, chairs, etc. There was also a room full of sinks (some with pedestals or bases), cabinets, plenty of boxes of flooring, screws, nails, etc. There were several appliances there as well including microwaves and some ranges. All in great condition. If you wanted picture frames, sponges, lamps, new sheets in boxes, curtain rods nik nacks....it's there. Don't judge until you've been there. Granted, it's not like a department store where everything is brand new, but if you're looking for a great place to browse for a great deal...this is the place. I brought my mother (total Ms Judgment!) and she was taken aback as to how different this place was from the older one on Lawndale. They still have all their color coded discounts to look for as well. So, if you want to bring your mother some where (with no judgement), consider giving this place a whirl. Oh....the bathrooms are exceptionally clean!

The other areas(like house wares and appliances) weren't as well stocked with items. This is store is conveniently located in a nice area. The parking is plentiful and close. If you are looking for used furniture I would surely give this place a look!

I have been coming to the Yanceyville blood donation center for more than 10 years. It is very…read moreconveniently located within 1 mile of my bestie's house, who also happens to be my long-standing blood donation buddy. The staff has always treated us with kindness and professionalism. They take great care of their donors through every step of the process, even if you're deferred for one reason or the other. Special shout-outs to Elizabeth and Star, who took care of us during our most recent donation. The check-in process is very easy, especially if you made an appointment in advance. You can schedule easily through the Blood Donor app. However, they will gladly take walk-ins as well. You can make check-in even shorter by completing your RapidPass ahead of time, which typically hits your inbox first thing the morning of your expected blood donation. You must complete this on the day of your appointment. After check-in, a staff member completes a private health history and mini-physical to determine whether you are eligible to donate blood. Your temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels must all be within range to proceed with donating. If any of your values are initially out of range, you will be given a second chance to retest with a different staff member. For example, my pulse was above 100 when I was initially screened during my most recent donation. After sitting quietly for several minutes, a different staff member checked my pulse again, and it fell below 100, so I was eligible to donate! Pro Tip: If you have low hemoglobin (the minimum for women is 12.5 gm/dL), which I have been deferred for in the past, try taking a daily multivitamin at least a week before you're planning to donate. Drinking orange juice with this supplement can also increase absorption. A hand warmer around your thumb is another hack to help elevate levels. You should also drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment, so you're well hydrated. Once you pass the screening, it's time to kick back for the easy part! If you're donating whole blood, the process takes about 8-10 minutes once the needle is inserted. They have TVs in the donation room, so the time passes quickly, especially if you're trying to race your friends to see who can donate the fastest. After donating, you are strongly encouraged to enjoy a snack and a drink while resting in the canteen area. Their snack game is usually pretty strong, with lots of sweet and savory options. I enjoyed some Welch's fruit snacks, Cheez-Its, and water while waiting for our other friends to finish donating. They typically advise waiting about 10 minutes before leaving the premises. After donating, it's very important to drink extra fluids and avoid alcohol consumption for the next 24 hours. My favorite part is that you cannot do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day. I highly encourage donating blood with a friend, so that you can increase your good deeds even further! Each donation could help save at least one life, and I can't think of a better reason to give. With the current critical need for blood, the American Red Cross is providing the additional incentive of free A1C testing and $15 e-gift card to a merchant of your choice in the month of August 2026.

I feel safe here and in great hands during my donations. If on the fence because you're nervous about donating blood, this would be your place to start. I would encourage anybody to try.
