This place is awesome. Fast service. Great quality care. I am so excited about my orthodontic journey with Dr. Simpson and her staff.

Orthopedic surgery has come along way since I had my knees replaced. My shoulders are healing nicely and the scarring is minimal. When a person is put in a position of becoming partially metal you want someone who has the experience that Sportmed brings. Our amateur athletes as well as our professional teams rely on being able to play again without worry about their joints - so do we, the average persons dealing with aging joints and wear and tear and pain that living brings. Sportmed team of doctors give you the option of regaining lost mobility. This is a key to happy life. I am now able to garden and do yoga again. The time between my shoulder surgeries was 4 months. I still have time in Physical Therapy to hone my skills at using my new shoulders but already there is no morning pain, no dreading an activity that would have put me in pain . In this age of more and more dependency on fast turnaround in healing, if I had to do it again this is still the place I would go. It's the support that is offered all throughout your healing experience. But the important thing to remember about any type of healing is the patient's head space. I waited too long. If I had known the results would have been as life changing as shoulder replacement has been I would have had it done sooner, but I would still go with Sportmed.

I had to explain my benefits to 2 different people more than once and then call the insurance because they wanted to charge me for out of network for a BCBS policy. Huntsville office does not have these problems and it's not so crowded.

Without going into detail, I have a disorder that causes significant orthopedic issues. I've had 3 1/2 new knees, several other new joints and more procedures than I can count. When I register, I just tell them that I'm "keeping the lights on". I have received nothing but amazing care from all of the doctors that I've seen. They work with me to determine what my best option would be. And that's what I really like - options. Years ago, when discussing a knee replacement, Dr Janssen said "you'll know" when it was time for a replacement. He was absolutely right. I always echo his words to anyone considering a replacement. I know that I need neck surgery but Dr Johnson said "let's kick the can down the road" - when I start having symptoms, we'll talk. That's unusual for a surgeon, their job is to cut. Dr Chin knows my aversion to pain medication and still has been able to keep me going. Dr Clayton has experience in plastics - my knee that's had 2 1/2 replacements looks better than my other knee. I could go on and on about each of my docs but there just isn't enough space. Sportsmed has several locations in the area. I'm actually closer to the Whitesburg office but I am willing to drive to Athens or even Decatur to see one of my docs. I cannot say enough about the care I have and continue to receive. I would be remiss to not take this time to thank everyone at Sportsmed. You all have given me the ability to live the life that I want, and frankly, deserve. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

There's a lot of parking too. You check in at a kiosk, scan your driver's license and insurance cards and wait for the front desk to call you to complete your medical records hard copy print outs. I think it was five pages. In a few minutes, maybe 15, I was getting my shoulder x-rayed and placed in an exam room. Within probably 20 minutes the sweet Dr. who has treated my husband's broken elbow three years ago was discussing my shoulder pain with me. Good news. No MRI needed! He asked me about the meds I had gotten at the walk in clinic and I said "no offense to them but they are really crappy." He wrote me a script, and suggested doing some physical therapy and told me their office would contact me in a couple of days to schedule the PT. It was so nice to go downstairs and have a full service pharmacy on site where my script was filled within a few minutes. TOC called me within 2 days to say my PT (which is onsite also) was approved and to schedule it; however, at this point I was doing so much better that I declined the PT. The lady was kind and said "okay, if anything changes just give us a call!" All told including driving and getting my script filled it took 2 hours. The office was really busy, though. I saw Dr. Patrick Boyett who specializes in shoulders, arms and upper extremities. He has a great personality and bedside manner. Two other Boyetts work there, his sons I imagine and I think they are spine specialists. Dr. Boyett did a fantastic job both on initial exam and surgery and follow up with my husband which included inserting a pin in his forearm. He really gives you peace of mind and is not at all overbearing and acts like he has all the time in the world to listen to you. Thanks Dr. Boyett and thanks TOC for having this lovely facility "one stop shop" so close to home!
