The members and staff are very helpful when you have questions and there's a wide selection of tools to use that most people wouldn't have the space or funds to access on their own otherwise. You do need to take a class before using each type of tool / equipment to ensure you're using everything properly and safely, which is totally reasonable. The classes are reasonably priced as well. If you're looking to learn new things and have a creative environment to work in, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

I came up most recently for a class on hand-planing, and was overjoyed to meet so many nice folks with a wide and varied range of interests. The class was instructive and well thought-out, the person leading was well informed and made sure that everyone was keeping up instead of just plowing on ahead. Both before and after was a nice social setting, comfortable even for an introvert like myself. Previously I was in town for some tutoring on soldering basics, and I had an equally great time learning and meeting folks. They've also got a great Slack instance for keeping in touch and reading up on a very wide variety of topics. This hackspace is nicely informal while being very on top of things in terms of appropriate warnings, guidelines, and making sure that folks are only using equipment that they've been trained properly on. Also, the space they're in now is almost twice as large as the previous space, and I think they've really benefitted from the move. Will definitely be coming back here any time I'm in town.
