Probably the number one reason is…read morethat this isn't the swim that Jessica Yaniv was talking about - she was organizing a one-time swim in ln Langley, and this was a monthly swim in Surrey. The other reviewer seems to be from Seattle, so maybe they are not familiar with the difference between Langley and Surrey? Also, and this is very much an aside, Jessica Yaniv's swim doesn't seem to be that bad? Admittedly I've only read the one article (link below), but it looks like she was trying to organize a body positivity swim that was top-optional, which is already the case in public pools. She seems to just have wanted the focus on the swim to be for body positivity so that trans people could feel safe and wanted. I've been to a few of the skinnydipper swims and it was super tame. Just a bunch of folks hanging out at the pool without clothes on, and everyone was polite and friendly. Only a few kids would show up and they were absolutely with their parents. It wasn't a big deal. In fact, the whole point seemed to be that it wasn't a big deal. Most of the folks there were long-time naturists. Also, for what it's worth, I never saw Jessica Yaniv there. https://www.nsnews.com/local-news/genital-waxing-complainants-topless-ok-youth-lgbtq2s-swim-proposal-delayed-by-township-of-langley-3104138

I've been to super chill jazz nights that turned in to topless dance parties, and art showings that brought the city's finest together over wine. This is the coolest spot to make some friends and book that event you always wanted to see happen. Their street view is an unassuming storefront, and through the door an open performance space, then couches, a bar, and a bathroom. The entire space is tiny, there's capacity for about 70 people in total and it gets pretty crowded pretty quickly. The art and displays rotate as their showcases change. Social programs are hosted by motivated individuals year round. They are very do it yourself and very politically correct, so if you're a snobby lazy jerk you might not want to socialize too long. But honestly, you'll probably fit right in with them, and the hip neighborhood they've been a part of for years. Contact them through their website with any ideas, and check the online calender for more dates.

I loved their Jazz hipster nights in a confined space. Truthfully this place was hipster before hipster was hipster. I heard Kent talk about for years about the toast collective, therefore, was really happy that I got to do this with him a few years ago.

Tables were moving in and out pretty quickly. I was really happy to see a $10 appetizer section. Tried the mushroom caps and risotto balls and loved them both! They also have a great cocktail list. Was definitely not expecting for a live magician to be there! He walked around and performed tricks for each individual table, how fun!! The daily events they have and the speakeasy ambiance make this bar truly stand out as a gem. Prices are quite reasonable as well.

The place is quirky and on theme. The servers were all dressed up according to the theme as well. They were courteous and offered us free Prosecco since the bartender was delayed to arrive due to traffic. The cocktails were really good - I had an old fashioned and a negroni. I would've liked more fancier cocktails for the price though. One thing about the place is that the tables are quite close to each other so it can get a bit louder as the night progresses. Maybe fewer tables with shorter time slots might be a good idea. We only tried the stuffed mushroom caps and it was delicious. The program of the night was a magic show. The magician was witty and had quite a few tricks up his sleeve. I would like to check out the psychic reading in future too!

It's different than potluck - it's home cooked, restaurant presented meals, all prepared by hobby chefs. Plus you get to look at the insides of other people's apartments :) When I tried this experience a few weeks ago, I started at an apartment downtown with some Asian inspired dishes (3 appetizers to be exact) and then walked (which is what you do) to the next apartment in Yaletown where I experienced an amazing west coast themed dinner complete with some very tasty pilaf and chicken! We then all gathered at an art gallery where we were given chocolates, dessert wines and bubbles to finish off the night and the winners were announced based on their food presentation, hospitality and of course, the food! I would totally do this again - but they seem to sell out really fast! (If you do go, make sure you wear pretty socks - you'll likely need to take your shoes off at the door - it is a dinner party after all!)

The main complaints I have are two. First I was stopped by an Indian Security and he asked if I had a mask. I was wearing a face covering and he said it was UNAPPROVED. Approved by whom? By what? I don't like this blue masks which are laced with carcinogenic ingredients and my own cloth material covering is clean and I don't want to breathe in anything that is harmful. He insisted I used the mask he gave me. Nothing but playing power trip. NOT IMPRESSED. I got an email notification about a video to pick up but when I showed up it was no where be found on the shelf under the initial of my last name. While I did get help from one of the counter staff and I told her perhaps someone just took the video and watched it inside the Library etc. This happens a lot in Vancouver Main Library as well. No, she offered to cancel my video and then put me back on ordering. But she did not place me on the next in the queue but back at the end of the waiting list. I waited weeks for this title now have to wait again. Poor management. Trust me IF I can find the same item in downtown I wouldn't bother to have to take 2 buses to Surrey!
