If we could rate this place less than one star, we absolutely would. Recent events and the deeply…read moreupsetting, biased letters and communication approved/circulated by the co-op management and a select small group of residents have compelled us to share our profound disappointment. Sadly, St. Andrew's, once a joyful and welcoming home for its elderly residents, has deteriorated into a deeply distressing and unhappy environment, particularly if you're not part of the "favored few" or the inner circle clique. After another visit to St. Andrew's, today we feel incredibly disturbed witnessing firsthand how our elderly loved ones and other vulnerable residents are being treated in this co-op. The emotional pain, loss of dignity, and overwhelming distress inflicted upon them is unacceptable, prompting us to speak out now. 1. Innocent, vulnerable, elderly residents who raise legitimate questions or voice concerns about decisions or management practices are shockingly dismissed and told outright, "the board can do whatever it wants without member votes." We feel this attitude is completely unethical and undermines the very spirit of a cooperative, which is supposed to operate democratically and transparently. 2. We feel utterly appalled by the small clique and co-op managers who repeatedly intimidate, nitpick, harass, verbally abuse residents, and even invade personal privacy by rifling through residents' private recycling and garbage--actions we've personally witnessed and find utterly disgusting and invasive. 3. It appears rules are selectively enforced, creating a highly toxic and hostile living environment for those who aren't favored. This double standard highlights severe leadership shortcomings and reveals the despicable true colors of the management and favored residents. 4. We have painfully observed residents living in constant fear, too frightened to speak out against injustices for fear of eviction--a senior's greatest nightmare. We feel the atmosphere is more like a dictatorship than a supportive, democratic community. 5. We feel there is clear evidence that fairness and equality are absent at St. Andrew's. The promised collective, democratic environment is nowhere to be found. We question whether proper ethical training has been implemented, as required. 6. It deeply concerns us that the co-op appears to consistently disregard its own conflict-resolution policies by accepting and acting upon verbal complaints rather than written ones, as clearly outlined in their own procedures. This inappropriate practice fosters unfair treatment and perpetuates ongoing conflicts and hostility, creating further distress for residents. 7. The behavior of co-op representatives, along with the nuisance behavior they allow from their favored residents, severely undermines mutual respect, fairness, integrity, and community spirit--directly contradicting their stated mission and vision. We feel deeply concerned and saddened to see our loved ones and their vulnerable neighbors subjected to such despicable mistreatment. If you genuinely care about your elderly family member's mental health and wellbeing, dignity, and happiness, we strongly urge you to steer clear of this place. We do not feel safe to approach the co-op given their behaviors and pattern of outbursts (and this is echoed by other residents as well), and do not want to cause any retaliation for our family members (we are keeping their names confidential for fear of a very real threat of eviction).

I am so disappointed in Lanka Jewels and their scummy and sketchy business practices. I ordered…read morethis custom necklace for a very special Christmas gift for my mom. The mountain has special meaning and is really important to both her and my whole family. The photo on the left is the design I sent them, the photo on the right is the job they did. It looks absolutely horrible and absolutely nothing like what I asked for. When I told them I was not happy with what they did, they refused to do anything about it. They won't return my money, they wont give me a new blank necklace so I can take it somewhere else to get it engraved properly. They can't buff it out because the necklace is already so thin and the lines they carved into it are so deep. Not only did this cost me close to $500 and I had to save up money for this special gift, I now don't have her Christmas gift ready in time due to this abysmal job. I can't give this horrible work to her, it looks like a toddler did it. The design is crooked, the lines have mistakes and there are random marks all over it. It's just so bad. I probably could have done a better job honestly. I spent over 40 minutes in store after receiving it, asking for them to give me my money back or give me a new necklace. I spoke directly to the owner. They kept arguing and refusing to give me a refund, even going so far to insult me as to try to sell me another necklace they had for 50% off. I was actually crying from the way they were talking to me. This is disgusting to do to a family at Christmas time. I will provide an update if the business resolves this issue but buyer beware. They will take your money, do a pathetic job and do nothing about it.

I own a rose gold band with small round cut diamonds from them, and I am always grateful for when they're able to clean it for me. In addition they offer Moissanite products including earrings. They have become my go to set since receiving them. I have no complaints with any of their products I have to date. And when we recently went in to look at engagement rings sadly there was not the perfect ring for me, but they mentioned how they could have a custom made ring made for us. I wore my ring and earrings in a recent Photoshoot. I personally appreciate smaller dainty jewelry and that is why I love the ones I have from Lanka so much.

Stupid response from a staff member who clearly doesn't care about her workplace or the customers.

I have noticed that the prices that value village charges for items they are receiving for free is very high in comparison to other charity thrift shops. They do sometimes have products that are higher end, and they do carry bigger stock of items than other thrift stores but it comes at a higher cost. If you are looking to help reduce waste and purchase clothing that is less damaging to the environment I would recommend value village. Unless you are on a more restrictive budget I would look into the other thrift shops within mission before looking here. There are many items even clothing that exceed $30, and for many low income families that may be out of their budget. If you wish to shop here bring in a bag for donations because they will offer you a discount coupon towards a purchase. And sign up to be a member, because they have a rewards program. The program adds points towards your membership and when you reach a certain amount you can receive a percentage of $ off your purchase.
