Man oh man! This is…read morea long overdue, much needed review. My husband and I went to GetFitStudio back in 2019. I unfortunately had to abruptly stop my training sessions because I was accepted into a Masters program and had to prioritize budgeting for school. It's (clearly) now 2022 and my husband and I have since moved to California... But we can still say and strongly recommend GetFitStudio to anyone in the area. I have had other trainers since training with Boris and my husband and I can confidently say Boris was the best personal trainer we had. We had customized training sessions to our own body types, Boris got us to cut weight and gain muscle so fast .... Going 3x a week. We were admittedly not the best at dieting but looking back now.. it was so crazy cool how Boris got us to be so fit. If we can clone a Boris out here in California we would.... But anyways, I figured I'd leave a note here saying how awesome this gym was and how much we miss Boris. So Boris if you see this, Uriah and Eric miss you a ton! You too Carlo! But yes if you're looking for a gym - this place is it.

I tried the Iron Circuit class at GetFit Studio in Alexandria today and honestly had a pretty…read morefrustrating experience. When I first arrived, the front door was locked. I walked around the building trying to see if I was in the wrong place or if anyone was inside, but I couldn't find anyone. After waiting a few minutes, I called the studio and no one picked up. I went back to the front, and eventually a guy opened the door for me but when I mentioned it was locked, he said it wasn't, which was confusing and didn't sit right. The class ended up being just me, which already made the energy feel kind of off. It was set up as a circuit with eight exercises and four laps. The warm-up alone was three rounds, and I was honestly exhausted by the second round. I told the coach that, but he kept pushing me to finish the last round anyway. I get that coaching involves encouragement, but it felt more like pressure than support. The overall vibe of the class was pretty dull and unmotivating. I'm not sure if it was because I was the only one there, but there was no energy or effort to make the session engaging. I completed three out of the four rounds and told him I didn't have it in me to do the last one. His response was basically, "So you're just going to leave early then?" which came off dismissive and a bit rude. At that point, I was already drained and over it. On top of that, the cleanliness didn't inspire confidence. The shower supplies looked really neglected, residue buildup, cloudy containers, and just generally not something you'd feel comfortable using. It added to the overall impression that the space isn't being maintained as well as it should be. Between the confusing entry situation, lack of responsiveness, the coach's off-putting attitude, and the condition of the facilities, this just wasn't a great experience. I don't see myself coming back.

I've been a client of Kelly's for 7 years. I've always found it difficult to find time for…read moreexercise regularly given the demands of work and young children. After struggling for years on my own, Kelly has finally made exercise work with my schedule. Kelly makes the absolute most of my time--every visit, she gives me a customized workout that makes the most of my time so that, after just 30 minutes in the morning, I leave physically exhausted and mentally prepared to face the day. Kelly is so knowledgeable that she has been able to work seamlessly around various injuries I've sustained during that time period. She monitors my other activities and gives me tips for maintaining fitness that I can do at the office or at home, and a regular email newsletter gives helpful tips for nutrition and diet. I agree with another commenter that Bill and Kelly are "as good as it gets."

I was surprised by Kelly's email I received the morning of March 23rd in regards to her dropping me…read moreas a client because my response time was not to her liking. She gave me no warning and didn't inquire about why I didn't respond in a timely fashion. Obviously, her lack of empathy for her clients is on full display, despite her telling me that she cared about your client's success and fitness goals. Her inability to properly address me on March 14th and March 21st requesting my weight, showed no respect for me as a client. She didn't address me by my name, ask me how I was doing, or ask me how was my day. For example, March 14th e-mail read, "You didn't send your weight yesterday". That email was so unprofessional. Greeting and asking about a client's day may seem trivial to her but in the world of decency and respect, it shows some personal short comings on her part. I have two co-workers who live in the city of Alexandria who are looking for a Personal Trainer and wanted to know the outcome of working with Kelly. Clearly, they won't be signing up! In hindsight, her decision to drop me as a client is good for me, because I don't want to work with anyone with her issues.

Starting at Fitness Together has been the best decision I have made in awhile. I was looking to get…read morein shape to potentially join the military. When I started in March 2015 I could barely do the PT test requirements, let alone pass a PT test. I am now happy to say that I can now pass a PT test with flying colors and do other things I never thought I would do. Fitness Together genuinely wants to see you succeed and when you do meet a goal get as happy (if not more) than you do. They hold you accountable for your workouts and your goals through assessments every 6 weeks where you go over your results and goal list from the previous assessment to see what went well and what can be improved. Then you make a new goal list and sign an agreement that basically says you will not make excuses. At first I thought it would be intimidating working out one on one in a smaller gym but I couldn't be happier with my decision. There are plenty of trainers and training times so it is very flexible to your work schedule and you can train with as many or as little of the trainers as you want. If you want to just work with the same person each session you can or you can work with a different person each time, it is completely up to you. They build your program around you and any trainer can work off that program. If looking for a personal trainer and a great environment to achieve you goals in I would hands down recommend Fitness Together Alexandria, I know that I as long as I stay in the area this is where I will be.

Each trainer brought something different to the table and I enjoyed the various techniques each used. Since starting here I am so much healthier and happier. I highly recommend. Yes it's expensive, but I found it worth it.

They have all the equipment you can imagine as well as some pretty incredible classes that are included in your membership. Not only is Marty great but so are the rest of the employees at this gym.

OneLife Old Town Alexandria update January 2026…read more Looking back to July 2025 when I first reviewed Onelife Fitness - Old Town Alexandria, VA, things have only deteriorated. Apparently corporate management determined not to allow any additional time between the end of the 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday Tai Chi classes and the noon start of Functional Lab (on Tuesdays) and BodyPump (on Thursdays). As a result, participants in the Tai Chi classes are still in the room at 4 minutes to noon, because management has elected not to change the schedule to permit more time in between these classes. Today the Group Fitness Director was personally present before the start of the noon Functional Lab class, and deflected concerns raised by participants waiting to get set up for the noon Functional Lab. She dismissed those concerns: she imagined, hypothetically, that participants in the Tai Chi classes would reject the schedule change, saying that if the 11 a.m. class ran from 11 to 11:50 instead of 11 to 11:55 a.m., it would appear that this was a "Tai Chi Lite" class. That hypothetical seems to ignore reality; it also permits continuing disrespect shown by the Tai Chi instructor toward both her peer instructors and participants in the noon classes. As the Fitness Director personally witnessed today, the Tai Chi instructor was still holding class at 11:56 a.m., disregarding the schedule. Whether this approach is due to the Tai Chi instructor's deliberate disrespect of the incoming class (and the respective instructors) or simply her inattention to the time, management has yet to effectively address this problem.
