*SHAMELESS PLUG- This review is really just my excuse to post some amazing photos of my husband and I. We chose Makai Creative for our engagement photos and they delivered the most amazing photos and video short ever!!! As a systematically horrible photo taker (think chinese crested dog with bed head and), what they did was nothing short of amazing. Emily was a photography wizard and Aaron put together a video that was so perfect it looked like he cued a flock of birds to fly across. Emily made us so comfortable from the very start. We were super excited but also anxious because as I said above, we don't ever find ourselves in front of the camera and I'd say that I'm extrarordinarly un-photogenic. She gave us the cutest poses and her direction was clear and simple to execute. We took photos on the beach and in the trees, all are equally amazing! She really took her time with us, put us at ease, and delivered flawless photos. Aaron was also a miracle worker. He showed us where to position ourselves and the he ran a ways away (with an injured foot!) to get the perfect sunset shot. I think the photos will speak for themselves so I'll keep this one short and sweet. Do not hesitate to call them (seriously don't because they book up FAAST) and rest assured taht they're going to take care of you folks fully-enjoy the proces! read more

We used Makai Creative for our wedding photography and videography. The team was amazing! From the start, they had excellent communication and were very professional. On the day of, they showed up and immediately went to work. They followed our list of requested images. They were also flexible with our preferred schedule, which meant staying until 10 pm, but were still able to send us our teaser video and photos by very early in the morning the next day - we had just barely gone to bed by the time they were in our inbox. They also sent us our wedding video and images within a month of our wedding!! The quality of the photos and the video were perfect. Easy to download and share. They captured all of the scenery and emotions of the day. Each time I watch our video, I catch new things I didn't notice before. They way it is edited makes it so easy to stay captivated, and when showing it to our friends and family, they didn't get bored halfway through (which they say has happened with some other wedding videos they've watched). We had the great pleasure of working with Aaron as we planned a dream destination wedding on the North Shore of Oahu. Everything came together perfectly and Aaron captured it on video and edited hours of footage including close up details, speeches, ceremony and drone shots into a 6 minute video. We felt like Rock Stars on our special day and now we have the film to both prove it and remember it by. After seeing some more raw footage we realize how much craft went into post-production to make us look better than we were. Hands down, the best wedding videography/cinematography company in Hawaii. Aaron and his team are so incredibly talented and amazing! I was drawn to their videos because of how emotional and intimate they are. It was so refreshing after watching other companies' videos that seemed to follow a template and was blurring together. When we met with Aaron (Makai Creative), we came forth with the idea of "Adventure," since my Wife and I are always on the go to explore and discover new experiences. Having Makai Creative provide videography and photography on my wedding day is something I will forever be grateful for! My husband I and decided to elope in Hawaii. Since none of our family or friends would be present for the big day, we thought it would be nice to have a video to show everyone when we returned home (plus it's sentimental and wonderful to have for us). I came across Makai Creative and was extremely impressed by Aaron's communication, care and dedication. At first we figured we would get married at a beautiful spot on the beach or somewhere at our hotel (Turtle Bay, which was amazing), something along those lines. After speaking with Aaron, he had so many amazing ideas! After discussing more in depth about what my husband and I envisioned for the day and what we enjoy doing, he offered some really creative suggestions. Since it was only going to my husband and me, he suggested something more adventurous, like a hiking a mountain to a beautiful spot or taking a helicopter to a mountaintop for the ceremony. Things we never would've considered before. We decided to go the helicopter to a mountaintop route, and ended up having the most amazing and memorable elopement we could've hoped for! Aaron and Emily were both so helpful in all of the coordinating and planning for the helicopter and day itself. They continuously went above and beyond from beginning to end. The finished product that they provided for both the video and photos are absolutely breathtaking (honestly some of the best work I've ever seen from a videographer and photographer). With that said, I can't say it enough that I'm so thankful I had them for our wedding day.
