Staff was very helpful in selecting which of the 4 different versions of the sign I would buy. After walking and reading the headlines from the late 1920s thru the development of the Interstate Highways, I was struck by all the problems that we, the people of this fine country, have endured over all those decades; the Great Depression, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, and on and on to today. I wondered if we could all just take a breath and perhaps lower the volume of our arguing about our differences and every now and then, really try to consider listening to what the other side is saying, I think somehow we will endure and eventually overcome our current dismal condition of hate and distrust that permeates all of our lives.

Admission was $7, and it was worth the drive. I grew up in St. Louis along route 66 so I could relate to a lot of this history. This museum brings up so many good memories and makes you feel very nostalgic. It was so interesting. They break up the history of Route 66 by the decade starting in the 1920s. This museum focuses mostly on Oklahoma's history of Route 66, but they do bring up things from all of the other states involved along the way. After seeing so many of the Route 66 sites in Oklahoma, it makes me so badly want to drive from Chicago to Santa Monica! Maybe I will one day.

Admission is free, donations are excepted , the pageant begins shortly after sunset ( roughly 8:30 pm) and lasts about three hours ,arrive early enough to park unload and walk to seating area ,bring blankets lawn chairs for comfortable sitting on the ground on audience hill, dress for Oklahomas unique weather changes! It got chilly fast! Display vehicles permits for assessable parking so that you may be directed to designated area If needed. The pageant tells the story of the birth, life, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Men, woman and children play the parts in period costumes as reading cast use their voices in each scene to narrate the story! In the intro it was said that this play is the only Easter play in the world that last 3 hours :) and that Hollywood is making a documentary about how this community gets together and shares the story of Jesus Christ :) It's a must see and if you miss it still come and look around at the church and everything the have :) they also have a gift shop :)

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is an incredibly moving and powerful experience. I…read morehonestly did not leave with a dry eye. Even before entering the museum, you begin to feel the heaviness of what happened. Along the street, there is a section of chain-link fence covered with memorial items, photographs, and mementos honoring the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing. Nearby, the statue of Jesus weeping sets an emotional tone for the experience that follows. Everything flowed very smoothly from beginning to end. After purchasing your ticket at the small ticket booth and gift shop, someone walks you into the museum and helps guide you through each section, explaining what to expect next. Unlike museums where you can freely wander from room to room, there are sections here where visitors are encouraged to stop and watch videos before moving on. In some areas, the next door doesn't open until the video has finished. At first, this may seem unusual, but it becomes clear that they intentionally want you to slow down and truly immerse yourself in the experience. One of the most powerful moments for me was sitting in a quiet, dimly lit room around a conference table with a telephone and microphone. You begin hearing the actual recording of the meeting that was taking place that morning. About a minute into the recording, you hear the bomb explode, followed by the chaos and confusion as people realize what has happened and begin running for their lives. Hearing the actual recording made that moment feel incredibly real and was something I will not soon forget. Throughout the museum, you also hear firsthand testimony from survivors and learn their stories. The combination of photographs, artifacts, recordings, videos, and personal accounts brings the history to life in a way that a textbook simply cannot. This is not a lighthearted museum visit, but it is an important one. It is heartbreaking, sobering, and deeply emotional, while also highlighting incredible stories of courage, resilience, compassion, and hope. I highly recommend visiting the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. Give yourself plenty of time, don't rush through it, and be prepared for an emotional experience. It is something I believe everyone should experience at least once.

This wasn't something I was personally taught in school, and it happened prior to both of us being born, so being in this space was living a historical moment. Seeing what was built from the tragedy meant a lot to me, and and it's a true showcase and human perseverance. I'm thankful that of all the things I saw in Oklahoma that this was one. In terms of visiting this area located in my photos, is open 24 hours, however, the actual museum is open until about 5 PM. I think we did not have the opportunity to visit, but we did see this at sunset, there was ample Street parking available, which was free when we went on a Sunday evening.

Milk Bottle Grocery - A Historic Route 66 Photo Stop!…read more Another iconic and unique roadside attraction along historic Route 66 in Oklahoma City! If you love discovering unusual landmarks and snapping memorable pictures, don't miss this little piece of history! Built in 1930, this tiny, triangle-shaped building is only about 350 square feet! It was once known as the Triangle Grocery, but in 1948, a giant milk bottle was added to the rooftop to advertise dairy products and attract motorists traveling along Route 66. How clever is that? Over the years, this little building has served as a grocery store, fruit market, barbecue restaurant, sandwich shop, and several other businesses. In 1998, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the building has taken on a completely different purpose and is now a nail shop! It's amazing how a tiny building can have so much history and continue to serve the community after nearly a century. We stopped by to snap some pictures of the famous milk bottle and appreciate another piece of Route 66 history. It's definitely a quick stop, but that's part of the fun of exploring the Mother Road! Don't let its small size fool you! If you're traveling through Oklahoma City, add this quirky landmark to your Route 66 photo collection.
