We knew what we wanted but they didnt have it. I ended up getting it edinburgh. They did have another single malt which we get which is about the same price of the supermarkets so this place is not over priced. It also has lots of offers on. I would ask the shop assistants if your not sure what you want as they are quite knowledable. Situated just off the Great…read moreNorth Road, it does have limited parking in front of the store, but it shares this with a number of other premises so it is sometimes difficult to find a space. There is plentiful on street parking around the corner however. This shop is mainly an off licence selling a range of alcohol as well as snacks - crisps, nuts and chocolate and a small range of other foods. Prices are about average, and it is a useful place to go to if dropping into the nearby fish and chip shop for a takeaway. For prices however, they cannot really compete with Asda, which is about 5 minutes walk away and have longer opening hours.

A lot of emphasis on ready and packaged foods, with occassional offers. A small stall with bakery items, which is great for those mornings when you just want something ready. It's good for grabbing a few bits and pieces that you have forgotten or to compliment your Aldi shop next door but it isn't great for range of products or stock. Plus, staff here are minimally helpful and completely indifferent. It isn't too expensive compared to other supermarkets but it isn't a very good place to do a substantial food shop. Also, remember kids, small convenience stores are more expensive than their big brothers (but not always so check!). Convenience is a luxury!

Like all Tesco stores it has its good points but also drawbacks. The beauty of Tesco is that they accept any retail coupons, even if you are not buying the product. I believe this particular Tesco accepts up to 50% of the value of your shopping, which is fab, though they only accept one of the same coupon. I tend to just use about 50p-£1 per transaction as I think that when people get greedy they are less likely to be so generous! I think the prices are about the same as other leading supermarkets, but they do have some good bogofs and also if you have a clubcard you sometimes get 'till spits' - these are vouchers that are printed by the tills, they are offers targeted at the customer depending on their previous purchases. They usually give you X amount of extra clubcards points if you buy a product, though I have heard some people getting completely free items so it is definitely worth signing up for the card even if you don't shop there regularly. All in all Tesco are a pretty average supermarket, pricewise. If there was a branch more local to me, I would definitely switch to them as their clubcard offers great perks if you know how to use it properly to take advantage of the numerous special offers.

The venue is kid and dog friendly, and very spacious. We've often been for Sunday lunch too, as their tap room is such a pleasant and cozy place to drink. They have plenty of big tables for large parties, and on a Sunday afternoon you'll see lots of happy families enjoying roasts and pints. The roasts are delicious, but my one criticism is that they are just too small. There isn't enough of anything, especially not for the price, so you'll want a starter and dessert too (or both!) But the food is great, and the wonderful venue makes it feel like a good value overall.

In my most recent…read moreexperience, I had confirmed days in advance via email that I could bring a group of my students with me for drinks and dinner to help them celebrate a successful module. When we arrived, we were told that the kitchen was closed for an event, and that we would not be able to bring in outside food. I was then left to scramble to find a place that could take 18 people at the last minute. The staff member I spoke with must have interpreted my stressed out state as rudeness, because I later heard her describe me as "very rude" to another member of staff. I certainly wasn't overly pleased to hear that I'd have to relocate 18 people for dinner, but I also certainly was not rude to her, and we had all stayed for a short while to purchase at least one round of drinks at the venue. During our stay there, this same member of staff attempted to explain to me that their email HAD warned us about the kitchen, but I have since revisited that email and it provided no such information. I'm not sure what her goal was with that stunt. While I can't comment on the quality of the food, I can certainly caution anyone reading this from depending on the responses Wylam provided through their enquiries email address.
