A true 5 star experience at MacDonald Hardwoods. After deciding to remodel with hardwood (about…read more1200 sq ft and DIY installation) we went shopping. We went to the normal places. We read all the reviews. We were becoming very afraid. I had done business here some time ago (15 years?) and had bought some fabulous product that was also very expensive. We were very budget conscious on this project and I was skeptical that they could put us into something that fit our budget. But we had to visit just to make sure. What we found was by far the most appealing floor we had seen (very nice sized examples of various products on their showroom floor) at a price that rivaled the other crap (can I say that on yelp?) at the liquidator place. The difference when you walk into MacDonald Hardwood is night and day. The people you work with are true professionals - they know what they are talking about and they deliver on everything they promise. We are super happy with the quality of the product we purchased (superior natural brushed oak) - we bought a total of 54 boxes and I rejected 3 pieces out of the whole lot - far less than 10% waste, and it is stunningly beautiful, quality wood. Delivery was great and on time to the minute - even with bad weather and having to come up I-70 to deliver to me near Idaho Springs. Kudos to MacDonald Hardwood - I have never regretted going though your doors and I am so glad we did this time as well. I give this business my highest recommendation. If you are not considering them for your project you are making a big, big mistake. My pictures are all from "during" the project, so no trim yet, but you get the idea. :-)

I worked with MetalArc on a highly custom and challenging stair railing. I asked them to translate…read morea sprial staircase design to my linear, right-angle staircase. Most railing companies said that they couldn't do it. MetalArc was one of the few willing to accept the challenge and the unknowns that came with it. They worked hard to understand my vision and priorities. I am very particular in what I want and don't want. They respected that and were not put off by it. They are very, very kind people. The project gave them challenges beyond their expectations, but they were patient and stuck with it each time. I am thrilled with the final result. On my end, there were a few challenges as well. I had to be extremely patient with the schedule. The project was bid at a flat rate, however, they increased it when they had a better understanding of the project. This was after I was already committed and had made a large deposit. I was frustrated by that because I thought the project was clear from the beginning since I had a picture of what I wanted to replicate. The payment installments were confusing and, as things took longer, they added new installments. I had to be firm that the final installment would be paid when the project was done. They had a few employees turnover which directly impacted my project. All but one did great work; but the one caused some major hiccups as did the transitions in general. We finished the project as a team. The results are beautiful. We are on good terms. We are planning to work together again, thankfully on a much more straightforward project!

It's hard to put into words how wonderful our experience was with David at MetalArc. We had…read morecompleted a beautiful high end kitchen remodel and the crowning jewel was to be the metal and glass cabinet doors that our architect had drawn in. However, the company she had used in the past wouldn't call me back. I found MetalArc using Google. And I'm beyond happy I did. First, their commitment to their craft is top notch. They will work diligently to get the project right. The level of refinement that we were looking for with these doors was not a hurdle they shied away from but rather they accepted the challenge and worked side by side with me to get it exactly right. The finished product is stunning, we couldn't be happier. Second, David's level of communication is a rarity. He is such a well spoken, clear and eloquent communicator. It is a lost art in today's day and age. I was impressed time and time again with his clarity and thoughtfulness in every conversation and email. This was truly a "project" that required communication and collaboration and he impressed me time and time again. Third, he is a good man whose primary goal was not only meeting but exceeding expectations. On top of being an expert in his craft, he has mastered being a good person. I can't say enough good things about him (and his brother, Joseph!). Thank you we will continue to sing your praises.

Just stop and move onto the next company. This was an absolutely horrible experience for a pretty…read morebasic garage, 570 sq. ft. with storage. First, it took almost six months to build and that was mostly because Ken was completely nonresponsive. The electrician spilled some of the paint that had been used to paint the garage and he reported it to Ken immediately. Instead of taking care of it in a timely manner, the clean up did not happen until two weeks later because Ken would not answer calls or voicemails. By that time the concrete was ruined. Someone eventually came out to clean it up but now it looks smudgy, like when you try to erase a pencil with an old worn out eraser. The next problem was the storage area we requested. For a company that has been around for quite some time, we did not think this was a big ask but apparently it was. Their idea for storage? Putting plywood across the rafters. There is maybe two feet from the plywood to the top of the roof in the center. Definitely not enough space for any kind of storage. Ken could not be bothered by this and never even came by to look, even after he said he would. Their remedy for this nonsense was a paltry $750 discount. Let's talk inspections. The first inspection failed after the walls went up, then again when the gutters were installed, then again with the roof, and then the final inspection failed twice. So in summation, if you use these people you do so at your own risk, they really are an awful company with zero integrity.
