I stopped by this thrift store today because of their Martin Luther King day sale (50% off all wearable merchandise). I've always thought they had reasonable prices here, and with the 50% off it's amazing. My boyfriend and I always find something and we have pretty picky taste! It is also very clean and well organized. Not too many clothes on the rack so it's easy to look though items. The reason I will not give it 5 stars is because of the staff. They are never friendly. Today I was checking out and the guy did not say hello or actually a single word to me. I said hello and even thank you and he aid nothing. A quick little "have a good day" would be polite. But either way, I will still be returning because I like the store. read more

As a person who loves thrift stores I saw this driving by and decided to stop. There was an immediate stench of funk when you walk in the door. Before I could walk 5 feet a woman with brunette hair (I was later told was a manager) started barking at me that I needed to check my purse at the front. Which I told her I would not because I had my wallet and phone etc. in there & that was unreasonable. I told her she was welcome to check my small little bag before and after which she would absolutely not do because at this point she decided she was on a power trip with me. I've never in my life been told I could not have my purse with me while I was shopping anywhere especially when it was a small bag. But more than not being able to shop there without my purse (I didn't care the place smelled really bad) I was taken aback at how confrontational and rude this lady was to be working in any kind of business. Talk about killing business in the first 5 seconds where someone will never come back. On another note if they honestly do have to worry about people stealing THAT bad at this store that you can't shop with any kind of purse without exception. Then they clearly have a totally degenerate customer base and you're probably trying on clothes after meth addicts or homeless people/lowest life forms ....really who steals at a thrift shop!?? All in all I would recommended anyone like myself who likes thrift stores to drive the extra 10 minutes to City Thrift in Waldo. They have the best selection of any of the ones I have gone to in Kansas City. Good brand names at good prices. They might ask you to check a large backpack or shopping bag but it's within reason and you can shop with your purse. Also the staff there are friendly and normal. Unlike this store where the manager is trying to compete for a gold medal in the C U Next Tuesday Olympics. read more

I come here regularly --it's hit or miss. in the past few months there are LOTS of missing tags and they refuse to sell the items with no tags and lose a sale rather than empower a manager to price the item. Those who come to thrift stores regularly know that you it takes time to find great items and to have no option but to leave them behind sours you on visiting again when most stores no longer have that revenue minimizing, archaic practice--especially on higher end items. When i entered the store immediately a lady working they're pointed at me and told me to take my backpack off and leave it behind the counter. It is my purse my personal possession. I don't think they realize they're leaving their self up for legal liability when they take possession of my purse. And I feel that they automatically thought I was going to steal something. I told them I was not going to leave my purse behind the counter and I left the store and told them I would never be back both people that I encountered at the store at that time were very rude. My donations to that store is going to stop immediately. Nowadays A lot of people carry a backpack for a purse I do it because I have a bad back and my doctor told me that was the best way to carry my purse for my back. I don't know if anybody in their right mind would say oh okay here's my purse watch it for me while I shop. I don't know what this world is coming to. Very sad. They stole our reusable bags from us because "they weren't allowed" and then hid them in the store, when we asked for them back and asked that they pull cameras to prove they were ours they called us liars and kicked us out. They still have our bags. They were custom and irreplaceable. read more

The inside looks like a mixture of Red Racks (precious thrift store) and your great grandmother's outside clothes line. It is the definition of organized chaos. Staff was kind of grumpy and made remarks at people leaving the store after they had left. I couldn't tell staff from regular people apart besides they were behind the iPad register. They have a nice selection of clothing, cooking and glassware etc and everything else a normal thrift store has. Their clothes are pretty cute, but I guarantee that the reason the things are still there are because of the dressing room mirrors. They are plastered to the wall in a way that tall people cannot see their whole body and it looks warped. ( I am 5'10" and have a thin body and I felt like a human pear). I tried on a lot of cute things and honestly passed on a bunch because I am too tall and had to walk to the other side of the store to look in an adequate mirror. The store is priced adequately, comparable to Savers. They have some higher end clothing too for a higher price (ex. Miss Me Jeans for $50). This store gets 3 stars due to grumpy staff, improper mirrors, and overall setup. I really hope management sees this and makes a change. read more

I think seriously about giving a poor review. I was very disappointed in my visit. First of all, the quality of the clothing I perused was average at best, I'd say, and it seemed that the pricing was just the same mostly no matter the quality of the item, like if it was a skirt, it was 4.99 or 5.99. The staff was, all but the one person who checked me out, anyway, not the least bit interested or helpful and, in fact, the principle person putting away clothing made it clear that I was in HIS way at every turn which was often!!! I looked at notebooks and other miscellaneous office type items and they were priced pretty high and I was comparing to Savers, which is on the higher side! The bathroom was not too clean but what I found most fascinating was that a little, lightweight wire shelf against the wall that could SO easily be moved had a collection of bits of paper and hair and other nasty bits under it, clearly visible and GROSS because whoever is cleaning the bathroom cannot be bothered to take 30 seconds to move it and sweep under the space of about 2.5 feet by 8 inches and it had obviously not been moved in a few weeks, I'd say. It is really sad. Thrift stores do not have to be dirty or mediocre or have employees who drift around indifferent and the person who checked me out was NOT one of those so I feel sorry for that person having to work with the rest of them.....a couple of their other stores I shopped in years ago were not like this at all! The place had clothes that were not high-end. One could definitely tell the clothes were used and very old. Some even out of date. Very outrageous on the prices. Plain black, carpet, floor mats that were used, were $49.99 on the shelf when brand new for $25.00 at other retail outlets that were not thrift. When we asked them about the price tag they said it was right, that they looked it up, and they were over $200 online. We looked them up too and they were NOT. Way cheaper in store, brand new. Don't fall for their scams. The mirrors are warped and make people look like animated veggie tales characters. The staff was extremely ride and when we needed help, they were on their phones, on personal calls, and made themselves completely unavailable to customers. You couldn't tell the difference between staff and customers. As we were leaving, the staff was rude and making comments about our visit and not buying anything that they seem to think are reasonably priced. We just bought a gently used recliner with nothing wrong with it, brand new looking for $20 at DAV. They were asking $50 and higher for furniture with stains and holes and other problems. Ridiculous!!! I don't think this place will be here much longer. I definitely won't be coming back and won't be recommending to ANY of my many friends. read more
