We were there the Saturday of the Oyster Festival in 2026 - so I know there were a lot of people in the area. They have to manage with all walks of life and they do not seem flappable. They were present and helpful as needed. Some seemed to avoid customers, I'm guessing they were focused on cleaning and organizing. This store is one of the best Island Treasure locations I have been to. There's an upstairs AND a downstairs. They had some great sales the day we went. One part of the store the kids really enjoyed was the book/library section in the back - which was great for them to sit and read a book in quiet and pick out a book they wanted to buy. We picked up some fun things for the kids - Legos of course was one of them. Great value, especially if you sign up for the loyalty point program. Prices were competitive and they had some great sales happening, which combined with points...just makes for an excellent deal. If the area, I will definitely stop by again.

I would say that both my wife and I agree to this particular location not being the best of Sherman's. Despite that if you are in the area and looking to support a local Maine bookstore it is a solid enough option. Firstly I will say all the staff we encountered were friendly, the first offering to move out of the way if we wanted to look at books close to where she was at. A second nicely asked us if we needed any assistance and lastly the staff who checked us out was friendly as well. Space wise I think it is lacking compared to some of the other Sherman's locations. Some of the areas felt a little too crowded. They do have everything you would expect from a Sherman's, new and popular books along with classics and hidden gems of every genre. Also stationary, stuffed animals, kids toys, gifts, souvenirs, and more. Prices seemed about the same as other locations and they do have their vast on-sale sections to secure good book deals. I would say if this is the first and only Sherman's you have visited do yourself a favor and check other ones out before fully judging the chain overall.

All of them will offer a great variety of classics and new and popular books available. They also all have a great amount of books that are on sale and you can find some great deals on books. A section worth looking through no matter the location. The best thing about this particular location is the fact they aren't crammed space wise and even if it were busy I wouldn't have felt claustrophobic. That positive does make it a better location than a few of the others. Although I do believe this one kinda falls a little short being uninspired and lacking a great charm to it. The staff we interacted with were friendly but it only occurred when checking out. It's a solid location and worth visiting just not our favorite Sherman's. Like all the other locations they have far more than books and lots of items everyone will like!

Personally, I like the way the Falmouth store is laid out more (having so many staff and neighbor recommendations immediately at the front of the store). This Sherman's in Topsham feels like it wants you to do your own exploring; it's cleverly/cheekily organized (make sure to look at the bookshelves titles). We were here for at least an hour just leisurely looking through the bookshelves, before making another lap, and another... I'm sure we could have been here even longer, and no one would have minded. It helps that they have chairs throughout! From what I understand, this Sherman's does an exceptional job with special orders, so if you're looking for something specific, reach out to these folks! The staff seemed *very* selectively friendly (I wasn't on the receiving end of that warmth, but I watched them have welcoming, neighborly banter with other customers [regulars, I'm guessing]). I was browsing as my sister was bringing things for consignment and wish I knew about this place prior to some of the purchases I made for her kids. Great prices, brands and variety -I was so pleasantly surprised because it's not a "huge" store. The place is very organized and tidy, makes it easy to to browse or simply run in and find the exact size you might be looking for. With kids changing so quickly in sizes and interests, this is a perfect and practical place to shop. I highly recommend checking them out. While I don't frequently shop at this store, I like to take friends and family there when they are visiting to pick up Maine souvenirs and other fun things. They also sell brands like Patagonia, which is a great brand. Maine souvenirs range from mugs, glasses, t-shirts and really nice quality sweatshirts. I like the more subtle designs and subdued colors. I like this location - as it's conveniently located in the downtown area, where there usually is street or municipal parking available. The store was nicely organized and tidy. The staff was kind with a warm welcome and a sincere thank you as I was cashing out.
