I asked how things were sorted because they seemed all over the place. She said only fiction is sorted by author! I asked how on earth the rest of the store was arranged. She didn't know. I finally found a different book by the same author in an entirely different part of the store. Weird experience all around

I went into Sherman's book store today. When I walked into the store an older woman at the register…read morelooked at me and said " We close in 10 minutes!" in a very gruff tone. I picked up what I needed and went to pay and another woman at that register was just as unfriendly as the older woman. Very disappointed as I traveled quite a ways to go to Freeport. I won't be going back to that store anytime soon. Not the first time I have experienced rudeness in this Sherman's ( Freeport)

I loved checking out the Maine Mysteries section and also the staff picks. The store is well laid out and organized although it would be easy to get lost in here for hours. I bought a few books on sale, some candies and a magnet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in lot. I will be back again and would highly recommend a stop in.

Personally, I like the way the Falmouth store is laid out more (having so many staff and neighbor recommendations immediately at the front of the store). This Sherman's in Topsham feels like it wants you to do your own exploring; it's cleverly/cheekily organized (make sure to look at the bookshelves titles). We were here for at least an hour just leisurely looking through the bookshelves, before making another lap, and another... I'm sure we could have been here even longer, and no one would have minded. It helps that they have chairs throughout! From what I understand, this Sherman's does an exceptional job with special orders, so if you're looking for something specific, reach out to these folks! The staff seemed *very* selectively friendly (I wasn't on the receiving end of that warmth, but I watched them have welcoming, neighborly banter with other customers [regulars, I'm guessing]). This is one of those places you WANT to sign up for their rewards program: you just need to give them your name and phone number and for every $200 you spent you get $10 a credit!

I was browsing as my sister was bringing things for consignment and wish I knew about this place prior to some of the purchases I made for her kids. Great prices, brands and variety -I was so pleasantly surprised because it's not a "huge" store. The place is very organized and tidy, makes it easy to to browse or simply run in and find the exact size you might be looking for. With kids changing so quickly in sizes and interests, this is a perfect and practical place to shop. I highly recommend checking them out. They have soft drinks in coolers near checkout for far less than other places. There was a lot of stuff clearanced out too. I hope it's just a pre peak season clean out and not leading to a closing of the store...because this is such a gem downtown. It's easy to support, when they partner with some of the coolest vendors, both locally and nationwide. While I don't frequently shop at this store, I like to take friends and family there when they are visiting to pick up Maine souvenirs and other fun things. They also sell brands like Patagonia, which is a great brand. Maine souvenirs range from mugs, glasses, t-shirts and really nice quality sweatshirts. I like the more subtle designs and subdued colors. I like this location - as it's conveniently located in the downtown area, where there usually is street or municipal parking available. The store was nicely organized and tidy. The staff was kind with a warm welcome and a sincere thank you as I was cashing out. They do a great job wrapping souvenirs as well, in the event you are traveling or shipping them. I recommend this store.
