I'll start by saying I'm not a tattoo aficionado, so maybe this review is best consumed by beginners. I went in for my second ever tattoo. And the first in this millennium so that gives you an idea. It all started when a few years ago (~2019) a few friends were talking that if the Astros won another World Series we'd get a tattoo. Well guess what happened. And as someone who goes to 20+ games a year AND all the postseason games (including heart breaking World Series losses recently), I was definitely excited about fulfilling the bet. I found Mainline as recommendation from fellow Yelper Troy who I knew (visually) was experienced in the reception of art. He recommended Mainline. Top run professional operation. I reached out on Facebook to see what was needed for reservations and the response was more or less that unless I had an artist in mind, walking in was just as easy. They do have their artist work on Instagram or Facebook but, again, beginner here, I walked in. Took a bit of time to be greeted as they were busy (no worries, just hang out they'll come up). Erick (a.k.a. "El Chuco") was glad to help and we walked through the design. He rendered it visually and we agreed on the colors, shading etc. He got prepped and off we went. In my mind it would be very logo-ish (Star, H, some lettering) but he took it to a new level with shading, some blue bursts behind it, and artistic flavor. Loved it. Being white, the orange and white colors needed the blue burst behind. All of the logistics were professional. Very clean. Very meticulous in the art. Thorough with the care. It healed quickly with absolutely no degradation just something you get what you pay for. The aftercare recommendations were perfect with no complications. Would definitely go back. Don't ask me about price, seemed very reasonable considering this is a professional operation not a corner store. read more

I have been here for 3 tattoos, and 2 piercings (when they did them) Gabriel Ayala (the owner) always makes everything comfortable and does a great job. I texted him a picture for the first tattoo (ghostface) and we made the appointment and when I got there the stencil was ready and he got started. On the 2nd tattoo I had sent him a reference of what I wanted (Michael Myers with a coffin, knife, and pumpkin) and he designed it all and it looked amazing. I was recommended Nat at Mainline Ink by one of my mutual friends and they are absolutely incredible! I made my appointment 3 weeks before the date, with one idea in mind. However a week later, I changed my mind and had a different idea altogether. Nat was incredibly accommodating over instagram by asking for color scheme ideas, price ranges and a size range. They even made the same stencil in multiple sizes for me to pick from when I got there. I used this place because I saw they had high reviews and it was an "in the moment decision" we requested a small finger tattoo and the artist did tell us they don't do touch ups because these tattoos tend to fade. Understandable I get it but I have another finger tattoo (got 6 years ago) and never had issue/never got a touch up. I have many tattoos including a half sleeve so I know the healing process very well. 1 week later I start to peel and I notice there is basically no ink in my finger. Called the owner to see if there's anyway I can get a touch up for this messed up tattoo. I was respectful and the OWNER GOT COMPLETELY DEFENSIVE!!! It kept cutting me off when I tried to explain I understood the risk of getting a finger tattoo. His only responds was "well the artist did tell you this was a possibility" and I said I understand but there's a difference of fading and not being there at all. Then the owner started to be smart with me and said "he did tell you the possibility RIGHT?" And that's when I was like "hold on you're not letting me finish my sentence and kept cutting me off let me finish my sentence" I was never rude nor raised my voice till the end because he was so disrespectful. He did tell me they will do the touch up but will charge a fee, why would I wanna go back to a shop that messed up in the first place? Added photos below I'm comparing another finger tattoo I got 6 YEARS AGO!!! (Cupcake) Compared to the one I got 2 WEEKS AGO!!! My daughter is 4 and we waited until she asked to get her ears pierced. Initially we went to a doctor but they wouldn't do it because she was not an established patient despite the fact we switched her PCM over and brought her medical records. She was crushed so we left and I called Mainline to see if Becca was available. I'd heard great things. She actually answered the phone and I schedule to see her the next day. Sophie was so excited. Until she saw the needle. She wasn't real keen on how one pierced her ears even though she was dying to have them done. Becca was AMAZING. I don't know if she has kids, has all the nieces or nephews, just had so much experience piercing kids, or just loves kids. She was SO patient. Sophie kept stopping her and going through panic mode but Becca just kept calm, didn't make it feel like we were wasting her time, was so sweet. We actually walked out of Mainline because Sophie chickened out. But the second we walked out, Sophie started balling because she wanted her ears pierced. So back in we went. Sophie psyched her self up and we got the one done. She screamed of course and then said she just wanted the one. Becca gave me the WiFi code so we could put My Little Pony on my phone and between that and holding her arms down and head still we got the second one done. Yes, she screamed but again, Becca was so calm. And afterwards, she gave Sophie a gift bag with colors, a coloring book, and a puzzle. You know, usual things you get out of a tattoo shop. It was a really good experience considering what we were doing and Sophie was SO happy after. She sang made up songs about her getting her ears pierced all weekend. We will always remember the cook rainbow haired girl at Mainline for piercing Sophie's ears. I would recommend her to anyone who has a child 3 years or up that wants their ears pierced. I can't imagine anyone better. I'm so thankful to have an option besides a piercing gun at Claire's to pierce my daughter's ears and so thankful it was someone like Becca. THANKYOU Becca!!!! Ok so that everyone knows, this are true and factual information which is based on MY experience with this Tattoo shop. With that said it is MY opinion that Mainline Ink deserves less than a one star, however that is not an option here. I am going to tell you that in my opinion I would NEVER refer a friend or enemy to Mainline ink as the artist was bad but the ownership and management of the shop was even worse. And here's why ...... I did a lot of research on where to go to get my tattoo, or so I thought. I chose to Mainline Ink mostly because thay have a 5 star rating here. My request was for them to create an Angelic Feather on the underside of my arm between my wrist and the bend of my arm. I provided the artist with a photo of the tattoo I wanted. I had the misfortune to receive my tattoo from a guy named "Fello" at Mainline Ink. After approximately 5 to 7 minutes of working on my arm, Fello said "ok, there" and proceeded to act as if the tattoo was complete. This worried me as to me the tattoo was very much NOT completed. I looked at him and said "Seriously? You're going to leave this tattoo looking like this?" The tattoo looked nothing like the picture I brought in with me and provided to him but instead looked more like a Tribal "dream catcher" feather. Upon leaving Mainline Inkthat evening I was VERY unhappy. I was EMBARRASSED by what I now had on my arm and I felt too humiliated to even show it to any one. The next day I went to a few different tattoo shops to see if they believed the feather tattoo on my arm looked ANYTHING like the one in the pic I had on my phone. They ALL said it did not. The last place I went to was Scarlet's Web in Pasadena. Jamie (the owner) told me that I should go back and talk to Gabe (the owner) of Mainline Ink and that he would probably make it right but nonetheless I needed to let the tattoo heal before anyone should try to fix it. After my tattoo healed I was still VERY unhappy with what was now permanently on my arm. I called Mainline Ink and asked to speak to the owner (Gabe). Three days later I received a phone call from "Becca", Gabe's "assistant", asking me what the problem was and told me that she was the shops manager when I asked her why Gabe had not returned my call. Becca became very rude and disrespectful when I told her that I called to speak with Gabe. I made NO headway with her. Another week went by and I went in person to Mainline Ink where I had the misfortune to meet "Becca" in person. After a lengthy conversation with Becca and a female artist (forgot her name), the artist acted as if she would fix my tattoo for free "as long as Gabe approved it". Becca said she had to go call Gabe and ask him. I asked for a refund at that time. Now, I do understand that TYPICALLY there is a no refund policy at a lot of tattoo shops however I had high hopes that this shop was going to make a great customer service recovery. They did NOT. I was told by Becca that she spoke to Gabe and he said that he would not give me a refund but that HE would "fix" my tattoo himself. Well, having never met Gabe nor had he seen my tattoo I was disappointed that this was my only option per Becca. I expressed my dissatisfaction to Becca and the female and one male artist. I left. A few days later I went to Scarlet's Web, paid her to fix the tattoo of which I like much better. I will have to have at least one more session to make further corrections. I sooo recommend this place for body piercing! My piercer was Seth and he by far is one of my favorite piercers I have ever gone too. I mentioned when I first sat down in his chair, that I had had, horrible experiences with body piercers, usually being them not listening to me and giving me something I didn't want, or piercing it wrong and me having to go back multiple times to get it fixed or have them taken out! Seth assured me that today I would walk out with a successful piercing, and he 150% delivered on that! He made the experience, fun and lighthearted, joking with me to keep me distracted, and even went into great detail on the aftercare! I couldn't have been more satisfied with the service! The piercing prices are very reasonable, and I did not have an appointment, I just walked in, probably had to wait 15 minutes, and the piercing process took about 10! Needless to say, I will be going back to Seth for all the rest of piercings, and even look into using him as my tattoo artist! read more

I was experiencing some pain/problems with a new nose ring and went to see if I had just put it in wrong. It turned out the new ring was just very bad (wrong size, wrong length, wrong thickness) and had gotten stuck in my septum and was pinching the nerves and cutting into the left side of my nose! I had no idea and just thought it felt a little weird, painful because it was a new ring. Seth helped me and made the whole thing a lot less stressful and scary and was not only able to safely get the ring out without causing me too much pain at all, he also put in a stud to keep my hole from closing and gave me his number incase there were any problems or complications after! :) He even offered to try to fix the ring so I could use it (I declined for obvious reasons lol) and showed and explained just how and why the ring was very dangerous and shouldn't be worn at all. This is definitely the best place to go for any piercing problems or needs! They really care and are very professional!! read more

Hydrocortisone cream isn't even touching the itchy. I'd love to get my money back but I just know that won't happen and since it's probably going to need touched up from all this scabbing I'll just go to my regular guy. I went in on Thursday with a friend of mine, we were both getting tattoos to celebrate big milestones in our lives and it was the first for both of us. I went here on the recommendation of a friend, and I was so glad I did! The place was very clean, professional, and accommodating. I didn't even know a tattoo shop existed in Friendswood! We showed up with what we wanted in hand and Casey took care of both of us right away. He took his time and made sure everything was exactly as we wanted and was very honest with me about what type of script would look best (I got a quote done) and be the most readable over time. He (and everyone else) in the shop was very funny and we had a great time getting our tattoos. We are the type of people who would normally be seen in a tattoo shop (two 30-something, female high school teachers, lol), but we didn't feel out of place at all and we both walked out with awesome tattoos that were exactly what we wanted. No response, granted he was leaving on a trip but, a text saying I will get back after trip would be nice, but, after speaking to the original tattooist and a fellow co worker, I am not surprised with lack of customer service.
