First time visiting the restaurant. Just before noon on a Saturday. Place was empty. However, staff was pleasantly welcoming. Presented menu and took our drink order. I tried the lobster roll with melted butter. WOW. Wife had fish and chip. Son had garlic shrimp. Both satisfied. By time our food arrived another three tables filled and ordered. Carry out orders were fill as the people arrived for their orders. Etc.,etc. Every customer was happy and friendly. This place is a hit. Give it a try. We tried this place based on its location due to not having many restaurant options currently in this location. The only reason this place is even getting a star is because the waiter was very nice and apologized for the way the food came out. Upon entering this building the ambiance was quite strange , a few booths in the corner, not a very pleasant ambiance. The restaurant smelled heavily of grease as if everything is fried. There must be a poor ventilation system. I ordered the garlic scallops and my wife ordered the cod sandwich with coleslaw. Firstly, the scallops came out raw, undercooked and extremely gritty with sand in each bite. This is due to poor quality and not being washed, prepared correctly. My spouse's dish, the Cod was not warm, tasted very old, and was completely compressed;flattened. When we asked the waiter if this was fresh seafood he was honest and answered "No, it's frozen". And the coleslaw had a very bad smell to it. And my spouse got sick that evening from eating the little bit of food we did try. We will not be back. read more

Mainely Seafood Café I wanted a Lobster Roll, so we had to stop by and see what this place is all about. It's at the right end of Turtle Crossings shopping plaza on Burnt Store Road. This place was neat and clean and very well organized. It is a Café and Market everything inside is simple but fits the décor of a Seafood establishment. We got there around 12 noon and surprisingly we were the only people in the place. Our server Brianna came over to our table took our drink orders fast. They do serve alcohol and soft drinks. For starters we ordered the Creamy Lobster Bisque Soup, a Beer, and some Wine. For the main dish I ordered the Lobster roll Meal with has a ¼ pound of Lobster served on a split top bun with Butter, Fries and Cole Slaw for about 24.00. You can get it cold with Mayo or hot with Butter. I got an alternate side of Onion Rings instead of Fries for 3.00 extra. My wife just ordered the same thing but with the Fries. Our soup came out first and it was very good. Our Lobster Rolls came out shortly afterwards. The looked amazing and they were. The roll was toasted and overflowing with Lobster the butter to pour or dip into was a nice addition. The Onion Ring were done perfect as was the Fries. Even the Cole Slaw was pretty good. Brianna was on the ball asking us if everything was all right and checking on us, but I do wish she was a little more cordial. This is one of them so called hidden little gems and I for one can't wait to go back. Make sure you put this on your to do list. I must give this place a 5 out of 5 stars. This was a great little stop off in Cape Coral after a long drive from Michigan. It has a fish market feel, beach decor in a beautiful little plaza. Our service from Jenna was top notch. She was friendly and made great suggestions and small talk. Steve, the owner is there every day making the fresh food himself. It was quick and hot (lobster roll was cold) fresh and really delicious. Great quick lunch at Mainely Seafood before the inspections. It was a laid back place, delicious seafood served in a simple, non fussy atmosphere. Spectacular! Whole belly fried clams are difficult to find in southwest Florida. Most places want to offer clam strips that are little slivers of clam with a heavy batter coating, then fried crisp. Mainely Seafood knows clams and how to make them. The full belly Ipswich bivalves have a very light coating and fried quickly to keep them tender. The flavor is clamolishious! They can be ordered either as a meal for $24 or $22 for the 'APP'. Both have a 1/2 pound of clams. My wife ordered the meal which includes cole slaw and french fries. The 'APP' is just clams. I selected the Grouper Fingers Meal ($16) which came with 3 very nice thick filets of grouper fried with the absolute thinnest batter ever that let the fish taste come through. Wow, they were great. And their fries! I'm sure these are made using the double fry method as they were crispy on the outside, pillowy soft inside, served piping hot right out of the fryer seasoned just right. Clearly the cole slaw was just as good as we left nothing in our baskets when we were done. We did bring home a slice of Key Lime Pie ($4.00) and found it to not have that good lime kick. It was more of a cheesecake with a thick buttery crust. Good, but not great. Fountain soft drinks run $2.50, bottled beer runs $3.25 to $4.50. No beers on tap. It's a small place located in a strip mall in a quiet area and is very reminiscent of little seafood shops we've visited in New England. Right at 6:00 on a Wednesday evening most of the tables were full and take out business seemed pretty brisk. A big shout out to Jenna our server. The fried amp is the best fried shrimp we have ever had. The whole belly clams serving is big enough for 4 to share as an appetizer. The cod dinner or sandwich is the real thing. Once you have it, you won't ever go back to Culver's. The lobster roll s authentic. This is a place where seafood is king. It is smallish but there are seats or booth space for at least 40. The menus are on plastic cards. The service was fast. The cook came out of the kitchen and personally told my wife and the quinoa vegetable risotto they ran out of and what else could he make her. I am sure from the way the food tasted and how hot everything was that it is all cooked to order. That means the vegetables are not mushy but are steaming hot. It means the zucchini fried were crunchy on the outside after being dipped in a lite batter. In fact they were the BEST I have ever had. The moisture from the zucchini does not take long to make everything mushy. There were not mushy. I got the Ipswich whole belly clams. They were excellent. These are not the same as clam strips. They had those in the menu too. Ipswich clams have gone up in price like everything else this year ( I wonder what is different) but they have kept their prices reasonable. My wife had the sautéed shrimp. It was flavored just right. She liked the clams well enough that she offered up two shrimp in trade for some more clams. For dessert that had Key Lime pie but they also had a freezer case of various gelatos. I got mango. It was like magic to my taste buds. It's a place where locals go. The cook and staff would call someone by name. They even knew that his buddy was coming back tomorrow. Did he want to pick up both of the orders? He did. You don't see that much personal touch much anymore. Oh they sell their fish like a market would. I wish they had reverse osmosis water for their tea and fountain drinks. The taste of the tap water was gross. I suppose you get used to it. I did not detect the same taste from the vegetables so maybe the cook used bottled water instead. read more

Food was very good. I had the lobster roll, hot with butter and lemon , my wife had clam strips. Both were very good. For appetizers we had the gator bites, the deep fried mushrooms and the calamari. Service was very good. Don't expect fancy, as the decor is pretty plain and food was served with plastic forks. But prices are reasonably, food is good. Only negative was the air was full of either smoke from the kitchen or spices and all in our party had red, burning eyes. Needs better ventilation. read more
