I asked for help after peeing myself and they just threw some clothes at me and said do it myself. I've only been there one day. The food was . I was there over Thanksgiving and it was awful. They used very salty lunch meat type turkey, everything was cold, it was hard there on a holiday, but when I started throwing up, no one was around to help me. The rooms are Small for two people. They'd be small for even one person. The doctor that was assigned to me or other PA, refused to give me the psychiatric meds. I've been taking for a while that my psychiatrist outside the rehab center has finally gotten right. I tried to explain. But this doctor listen to. I ended up mental breakdown and horrible nightmares. I left early because without those I was suffering even worse than if I had only had the kidney removed. It was a cancer and there were only a few people who were kind. Terrible place. I hope I never have to go there again.

We were looking for hospice care for our Dad in late 2021, after having just experienced very poor…read moreservice from another hospice provider in the area. (The first company didn't return our phone calls, even though we made it very clear that we needed help right away.) The staff at Beacon Hospice, on the other hand, helped us immediately, understanding that time was of the essence. Within a single day, they had answered all of our questions, ordered a hospital bed, conferred with our Dad's doctor, and taken care of all facets of his care, making it possible for us to spend more time with Dad. They visited him every day, kept us updated, answered our questions, and were available to us 24/7. We couldn't have asked for a more efficient, communicative, and sensitive staff. They were wonderful to work with and gave us the exceptional service we needed during such a sad time. I recommend Beacon Hospice wholeheartedly.

Sandy River Center regularly has unsafe staffing levels to the point of two aids per 40 resident's…read morehalf of which require 2 aids to assist. They pay their aids unlivable wages that have not in the slightest kept up with the cost of the world today while making them take on impossible workloads that end up leaving the residents to suffer. Meanwhile public bankruptcy records show Genesis - Sandy River's owners - are paying lawyers upwards of $2600 an hour while their bankruptcy plan intends to wipe away over 2 billion in debt millions of which from wrongful death settlements already won. We as a society need to speak up and stand up to the horrendous greed these for-profit nursing homes bring. I worked there as an aid and brought up these conditions and that something needed to be done. Soon after I received a certified letter regarding my termination in the mail letting me go for "Health Reasons". I am a type 1 diabetic. While in the process of a Maine Human Rights Investigation we had to drop the case due to the company going bankrupt. Why do we as a society allow companies to take horrendous care of our loved ones up to neglectful death, pay terrible wages, take out loans they know they cant pay back just to go bankrupt. I say enough is enough we need to speak up against this otherwise we are part of the problem.
