Than my sons cross member n leaf spring mount snapped and he went off the rd...so when the cops showed up I told them I dont want them towing the vehicle out I had my own company/ tow coming.... they honked at me to move ...they hooked the tow truck to the bumper and kept in park and towed outta the ditch ..in 4 wheel drive..... It took a quality truck with an experienced man. Ray rolled up on his strong and true two tone Sterling and assessed from tip to stern - would they're be drag on my running boards? Could there be and additional dangers to my vans body and frame? I've been towed twice prior to Ray coming to my aid this morning - his care for my vehicle was top priority. The big Sterling decline tilted and Ray pulled the chains and hooks - shot under my van with the intensity, enthusiasm and spryness of a man half his age - still assessing for optimum attachments. Once all was connected and secured, up the Big Van went as the Sterlings hydrologics roared to life and pulled the van up and on like the Coast Guard rescuing a man overboard. The drive to my mechanic was so pleasant - driving so safely and we chatted the 11 miles away, finally arriving at my destination. At which point I went inside the office to introduce myself and get the paperwork conversation started. By the time I had exited, Ray (who if I'd not mention prior is the owner of the company) had slid me into the perfect spot for the team at Cobbs to easily swing the rig into the garage. When he arrived he could not figure out how to lower the spare tire from under the vehicle, I did it for him. He then could not figure out how to detach the spare from the cable under the vehicle. He said "Maybe you can do it, I'm soaked" then he packed up his things and left without another word. He then called the roadside service I use and told them I did not provide him with the tools. Completely incompetent, unprofessional, and failed to provide any of the service he was called for. AFTER READING THE ABOVE REVIEW, THEY DOUBLED DOWN STILL BLAMING ME FOR THEM BEING UNABLE TO DO THE JOB. (Maybe try doing the slightest bit of research to see how to do your job. It took no tools to remove the tire.) It was a 2017 Ford Transit van, not a specialty vehicle. The next company that came took it off in 30 seconds, with HANDS! No tool was required it was a pin. Very bad experiance. My car was towed by this garage's towing service. Openly admit that I wasnt…read morebeing easy to deal with when they told me it was cash only to get my car out of impound in person, but not when I called them asking about the car in the first place. After getting in my face and making statements such as "if I were 10 years younger you wouldn't be talking right now" and "don't f**k with me I'm in a bad mood today" the owner of the company accompanied me to check my car for damage. We were met out back by two other employees who were there as enforcers. I pointed out damage I thought they had caused to my vehicle, and they accused me of trying to get a freebie. When I went to leave, the owner of the store stepped between me and my car and closed the door to my vehicile preventing me from leaving. He said, "don't be a smartass, I have two people here who saw you take a swing at me, and there is noone around to help you". I did not take a swing at him, or make any threats, I was honestly just trying to leave when the owner of the store treatened to physically harm me under the false cover of his employees. As usual, here in Maine another predatory towing company that doesn't know the law of the state…read morethey operate in. when asked to proper Paper work per the Maine state law the owner starts immediately yelling swearing and threatening to steal the car. that rite there shows how primitive And uneducated about his own business he is. I didnt have a choice dealing with these money grabbing predators but my advice is if you do have a choice don't and if you have been towed there or have had a friends car towed there check the law about what they can and can't charge if they don't follow the proper procedures. Those laws are in place to protect people from predatory businesses like JD towing.
