I always liked this place. It got harder to figure out their hours. The food was usually good. The owner was always friendly when orders were picked up. Unfortunately they are no longer in business. read more

So I should of went with my gut when they don't let you physically walk into restaurant. Ordered $80 worth of food I couldn't eat. The fried rice seemed to be a rice pilaf with some meat thrown in. The fried dumplings are the ones I buy in giant bag from Costco. Beef egg foo young had no beef and no flavor. Beef with pan fried noodles were ok. Not sure the meat was beef since it was almost white in color. Orange chicken & king poa chicken were ok but again meat was very questionable. Will NEVER eat here again. read more

If you are expecting a sit down experience, go somewhere else. Covid was hard on this family restaurant. No dining room is available. When you order you should phone it in or get a menu from them at the door. This is like the old days of drive inns They take your order, accepts payment (cash preferred) and deliver it to your car Have been a 25 year returning customer. This couple are hard working and the nicest people. The Food is as spicy as you want it to be. House items are awesome They will customize your order any way you want it...just ask. Delicious food with friendly and fast service. My husband always orders sweet & sour chicken and I get the Mongolian beef. Each time our order is right and tastes delicious. Prices are reasonable too. We've tried other Chinese restaurants in the area and nothing compares to this one! read more

I love shrimp and pea pods. When I was getting it the sauce was white. Last 2 times it was a dark brown. Went out to the racoons. All I can say is yuk no. Havent ordered since. Too much money wasted. read more

I asked for the dish to be spicy. The worker repeated it back to me twice. The dish was not even slightly spicy. They wouldn't let me eat at the table in the restaurant, and they said I would have to pay $1 for chop sticks. Very weird, subpar place. read more

The white (almost chewy) pieces are supposed to be chicken in the fried rice(?) I gave it a shot and tasted one piece, then because of the blandness and weird texture, I could only eat the rice at that point. There was no soy sauce included despite our request, and we were limited to one pair of chopsticks per order, even though there were 2 of us eating. Definitely ordering from elsewhere next time I crave Chinese food... read more

My first time at the main bao I have a trailer up near the place. I pull up and call and place my order, they seem a little short with me but it only gets worse. My food is done they told me the price was 15,70 .She came out gave me my food took my 16.00 and starting walking away ,I asked for the Reset She responds no receipt no receipt we don't do that. I asked her what about my change and she says what You're change you want your change I'll get you your change. I can't believe in this time of day and this time of day a place a place is running cash no credit And no receipt for their business. The food was good but the service is really bad I won't be back read more

Best Chinese food in town. Actually some of the best chinese takeout I've had. A little pricey to feed a family of 5, and no delivery takes it down a star. read more

I placed my order and was advised "cash only" I was charged tax but my order was never wrung up. Pay your taxes like everyone else!!! read more

When you order a combo, menu says served with pork fried rice and egg roll. After you pay cash up front and receive a bag, it doesn't have any egg roll! Then the "lady" cops a 'tude if you want an egg roll! I can assure you, you won't get your egg roll if she doesn't want to give you one, even though you paid for it already! read more

Love this place!! Moved away but still haven't had Chinese food like Main Bao!!!! Won't forget it either.

I am amazed there is a Chinese place that does NOT deliver but then again, Main Bo doesn't have to! Yes, they are THAT good! Last night my son ordered orange chicken and I ordered pork lo mien. We also had egg rolls and crab rangoon. The rangoon was a bit chewy but good none the less. My lo mien came with fried pork rice and an egg roll and it was delicious! The orange chicken came with white rice and there was plenty to share. This is the first time we have ordered from Main Bo and as I write this, my son is on his way to pick up our order for tonight! It's a small place in a strip mall in Diamond. Definitely family run and truly a hidden gem. If you are looking for delicious Chinese food in the Coal City, Diamond area, check out Main Bo. They have a wide selection of dishes that are incredibly good. Oh, and did I mention that our entire order was $27!? Well worth it! read more

Mainbao Chinese Restaurant - Pork lo mien and fried rice with crab rangoon. Yummy! - Chinese Near Me - Diamond, Illinois

Very disappointed with the food. Place has gone downhill. Ordered sweet and sour chicken combo special. The chicken was horrible. Or should I say what chicken? Old oil /saturated batter with a micro-piece of chicken. Disgusting! And the fried rice was dry. Will NOT be going back there EVER. And you have to pay for the fortune cookies? Really? read more

Ordered the crab rangoon, veggie rolls and the chicken broccoli lunch special. The veggie rolls were so fresh and hot, highly recommend. My daughter ate the rangoon and lunch special was for my daughter. She said both were delicious. The lunch special came with A LOT of food; chicken, broccoli, carrots, and fried rice. Way too much food for 1 sitting. This is a carry out place only. No delivery, no sit down. The prices were reasonable, too. The lunch special was only $5.95 Restaurant was clean & did not smell greasy. Staff was very friendly, too! read more

Awesome Chinese at a great price. The food is great, portions are huge, and the staff is very friendly.

Im seeing that they are now closed. Am sorry to see this. I get out that way occasionally, as my best friend lives in Braidwood. Wanted to stop in and treat my lady friend who is Taiwanese to their cooking. read more
