This place is brand spanking new. It's been open for only 2 weeks. It takes over the space of the former Swiss Pastries. The place is modern-looking and clean. Their menu is simple. They do pizzas and salads. They also have a small selection of desserts from local bakeries. They are licensed and serve wine and beer. They have soft drinks, water, San Pellegrino sodas, and Ottawa's own Harvey & Vern's sodas. However, they do not serve coffee nor tea. You order your pizza and pay at the cash register, then when your pizza is ready, they bring it to your table. They have Signature Pizzas (pre-set combinations) ranging in price from $8.95 to $12.85. Or you can build your own pizza. The base pizza is $8.55 (+$4 if you want gluten-free) which comes with your choice of sauce, and your choice of cheese (+$2 if you want dairy-free Daiya cheese). Basic toppings (mostly vegetables) are $1.35 each, and premium toppings (mostly meats) are $2.35. Salads range from $4.65-$8.45 depending on size and type. I built my own pizza with Fiazza red sauce, Fiazza cheese blend, artichokes, roasted broccoli and roasted BBQ chicken. It was fantastic. I loved the thin crust. The pizza wasn't too saucy, and they were not stingy with the toppings. I liked that the sauce was nice and light, and not overwhelming. The pizza also did not taste overly greasy/oily, which I appreciated. I liked that the cubes of chicken were lean breast meat and not gristly. Overall, I really enjoyed my pizza. The only thing that disappointed me on my visit was that I got a bottle of water and I asked for a glass to pour it into. They gave me a glass from behind the counter, and when I got to my table I realized that it was not clean; it had lip prints on it. Needless to say, I just drank my water straight from the bottle. I feel that better care needs to be taken on the dishwashing front here. Staff were friendly and efficient. My estimate is that the place seats about 35-40 people. Fiazza is in the same plaza as Natural Food Pantry and Bushtukah. There is a small parking lot with limited parking spaces.

I dropped by after work to pick up a pizza for my husband and I for dinner and it was delicious! I got the 2-toppings XL (16 inch) walk-in special ($16.99). I chose Tandoori chicken and red peppers as my toppings. They were generous with the toppings, including the cheese. It smelled so good in my car driving home, lol, and tasted even better. The tandoori chicken was lean breast meat and very flavourful. I liked that the pizza wasn't too saucy and the crust wasn't too thick. It also wasn't too oily. I spoke with Vasu (I hope that's his name and how it's spelled, my apologies if I misheard or my spelling is incorrect), one of the owners, and he was very friendly. They've only been open for a month. Now I did some location reconnaissance online when I first heard of the place, and from satellite maps it wasn't clear if there was on-site parking or not. Merivale is a very busy street and you can't park on it. Finding street parking on side streets isn't the easiest and I don't feel like carrying a box of pizza for several city blocks. There appeared to be spots behind the store, but that space also looked like it belonged to the car detailing company there. I saw that the business claimed this Yelp listing, so I used the "message business" function to ask them about the parking situation, but never got a response, lol. So I ended up calling them before I headed out from work. They told me they have parking behind the store. When I got there, I saw that there are 2 spots directly behind the store, one of which was occupied by, I assume, the owner and the other spot was available, so I parked there. It's very tight back there though with a lot of cars from the car detailing business. The driveway leading to the back of the store cannot accommodate 2 way traffic, so if you are exiting and someone else is entering, one party will have to back up. Vasu told me you can park in front of the restaurant, but from what I saw you have to climb the curb (might be fine for an SUV or pickup truck, but I don't like such maneuvers in my economy car, lol) and it looks like it would be difficult to get back on the road because you might have to back out onto a busy street (?). Anyway, I was not thrilled by the parking situation. I considered deducting a star for the parking situation, but I really liked the pizza, so 5 stars from me ;)

Overall, the pizza was good, but they do put the toppings under the cheese, which is definitely not my preference, lol. I got the large one topping walk-in special ($12.85) and chose pepperoni as my topping. It took 15 minutes. The crust is indeed golden. They say the yellow hue is due to egg yolks, but I suspect there is another ingredient that gives it that depth of ochre. Perhaps turmeric or annatto. Hopefully not food colouring, but I suppose it could be. I guess it's a proprietary secret, lol. The crust tastes more flavourful than regular crust, but I can't pinpoint the actual flavour. Like I mentioned earlier, they put the pepperoni under the cheese. Growing up in Toronto, this style was very foreign to me when I first moved to Ottawa, but I have since learned that this is very common in Ottawa. I can't say I'm a huge fan of it, but I can still appreciate a pizza made in this style. I like my pepperoni a bit crunchy and the pepperoni was obviously soft and chewy when it's under the cheese. The amount of cheese was good. The sauce was also tasty. Overall, it was a pretty good pizza, all things considered. Staff were friendly. It's in a strip mall so there's free parking in the strip mall parking lot.

I added green olives on my pizza and made it a thin crust. I also splurged and got a side of garlic fingers and their homemade garlic sauce. The thin crust pizza texture was perfect and had amazing texture and crunch. Foldable NY style pizza. This is where it's either you love it or dislike it, but their yellow dough is not my fave. There is a flavor in the dough that I am just not a fan of. Could it be chicken broth flavoring or some type of spice they add in? I'm not sure, but I gave this pizza a second shot and I am just not a fan of the dough. My kid was not a fan this time either. It's all personal opinion as some people I talk to adore this style of pizza. Garlic fingers tasted similar to the pizza, with some added spices on top. Garlic sauce was bomb! Maybe I will try some of their finger foods next, but the pizza is not for me.

The Long Version: Blondies Pizza is a small pizza chain that started in Toronto in 2018. Most of its locations are in Toronto and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), but they have a location in Hamilton and this one in Ottawa that opened in January 2026. My husband and I were in the area and dropped in to share a pepperoni slice ($6). They heated it up and cut it in half for us. The slice is fairly large so I felt half a slice was a good snack for me. I like that they use the small cup and char pepperoni. The pizza was a little bit on the oily side so I used some paper napkins to blot the excess oil. The crust was nice and thin the way I like it. The amount of cheese and pepperoni was good. Overall a solid slice of pizza that I would have again. There's not much seating. Just bar seating with four stools along the window. I like the pink theme of the store. Service was pleasant and efficient. This location is in Centertown. Street parking only. Review #149 (2026)
