One of Branson, Mo greatest gems is this pretty little lake…read more Some of the best mornings of my life have been spent on this quite little lake; guiding kayak tours in the spring and summer months, admiring all the adorable, chicks, ducks, Heron, turtles, fish, Canada Geese, and bald eagles-it was wonderful to watch the seasons change with the chaning colors of the leaves and the changing colors on the breasts of all the waterfowl; saying good morning to all the polite and funny fly-fishermen at dawn; giggling at the beavers who would sometimes scare the cr*p outta me by splashing into the water while I was admiring a Great Blue Heron; paddling my kayak through the icey waters, myself and my kayak covered in snow, during the winter. What I really loved, during the super-hot summer months, was when they would do a dam release and the cold water from the bottom of Table Rock lake would turn Lake Taneycomo into a super-cold 40degrees stream, creating this beautiful foggy mist, making morning kayak trips gloriously romantic, refreshing, and a luxurious treat. Some may think it's a stream or a gentle river upon first inspection because there is usually a bit of a current. This is because they let do "dam releases" from Table rock lake which regulates the lake levels of Taneycomo. So, even though it moves like a river it is technically a lake since it is dammed on both sides. SUGGESTIONS: Bring a kayak. You'll see so much more. You'll never disturb the little critters. Youll get to sneek up on happy little turtle families. Make more friend with the fly-fishermen by telling them where all the great fishing holes are without disturbing the fish. Bring a camera. We rented a canoe for $35 for two adults and a dog. They also had kayak and tubes for renting. The check-in place is really small but people there were really friendly. They sell river essentials like sun block and water shoes and the prices seemed reasonable. We brought a cooler with drinks and sandwich. I did not see many places to shop around so I would def recommend packing your own food/drinks. The river itself is real pretty but was quite low (which we knew before going). There were some places we had to push the canoe. It may be a little difficult to maneuver if you have never canoed before. Water was pleasantly cold/warm. They had life vests we could borrow for free but we didn't need them, as the deepest the water got was about 4-5 ft. There were no rapid currents, which worked well for our puppy. There were only a few other families when we went and people were very friendly. Very quiet and no crazy parties going on, which was nice. Overall, we had a good time and if we lived around here, may come back a few times a summer.

This was an additional $180 cost! there was no mention anywhere when on website! when we inquired about transporting the coolers ourselves, we were told we could not do that; don't know if that meant that it was private property or there was no public access. We surrendered because we had no other options as far and paid their huge fee. Waited over an hour for transportation to put in spot, our group was split up in two buses, loaded kayaks were blocking the seats before we were allowed to get on, and passengers were scolded because some younger people did not climb over the bus seats and were expected to do so versus the older passengers!!! Shouldn't have had to climb over the seats at all. This is also a safety hazard, probably against the law. We finally arrived and only one person there to assist our large group and many other people to put in the river. They did have outfitted canoe kayaks staged for our group, but other groups were taking half of the one set aside for us which further delayed us another 45 minutes, we finally got in the river only to find out that three of the kayaks were broken. Overall, I would rate this outfitter as the worst I have ever seen personnel under demand equipment, and very poor condition. Operation for basic services was not very well organized. Needless to say we will never return to this outfitter or recommend anyone else use them. In fact we will recommend they use anybody else than James River Outfitters!!!!

The water is cold but it was 100 degrees in mid-august so it was great. The current was not flowing from the dam, so we had to paddle the full distance of 8 miles. This is not a no -issue. It takes a fair amount of effort with no current . But it was epicly beautiful! Well worth the effort. Take food and water. Make sure you have protein. I'd do this again anytime. Justin runs a great operation.

We booked 2 single seater kayaks for the 4-mile adventure on Lake Taneycomo ($39 per person). There is no guide, you go at your own pace but the adventure in its entirety is about 2.5 hours. They will drop you off at one point of the lake and pick you up at a marina located 4 miles from the drop off location. The service includes life vests, the kayak and the paddle, and the shuttle service. We had a great time overall. Our driver and the other guy who helped unload and load the kayaks were great! The first thing you need to know is that the check in is located inside the gas station. We weren't sure who does the checking in part but we asked someone who worked at the gas station and they immediately pointed us to the right person. We enjoyed the lake. I felt tired after, but it was worth the adventure! You get to see some wild life up close and personal and relax as you paddle through the lake.

The staff was VERY friendly, helpful, and informative from start to finish. The check-in process was so easy, and they did a great job making sure we didn't spend our vacation waiting around. The pontoon boat was clean, comfortable, and the tube worked perfectly for the kids. Everyone had such a great time on the water! This was our second time renting a boat from State Park Marina, and both experiences have been amazing. We truly have no complaints. The staff is awesome and goes above and beyond to make sure families have a great experience. Highly recommend State Park Marina if you're looking for a fun day on the lake!
