They got my dog in same day we were in need as an urgent care visit after he got into a dog fight with our foster. They took amazing care of him and the vet even called to check on him the following day. They gave us calming meds for the day he needed his stitches and drain pulled. I liked this place. I however ran into a problem. I went for my cat. Is allergic to flees and the only thing that helps is oral meds. In order to get the medication's that last longer than five days you have to have a prescription. So when I was given the prescription and told to go online to purchase it as they didn't carry it in office, I tried to do so. I tried several places and all require either a written prescription mailed to them, which takes a long time (multiple weeks) or the vet can just call them and approve it. The vet would not call them and approve it. They said they've had difficulties in the past with chewy. I called and tried to talk to chewy about it and got right in to speak with a pharmacy tech no problems at all. So now I'm having to wait while my cat suffers. read more

We recently took our dogs to Main St. Veterinary Hospital to have their teeth cleaned. We were promptly greeted, our dogs were checked in and taken to the back to wait for their procedures. We were called by Dr. Andrea Monismith to let us know how they did and when we could pick them up. She informed us that our oldest dog (13 y/o) did very well, but our youngest dog (6 y/o) had to have 9 teeth pulled due to bone loss--bad luck of the hereditary draw. We picked them up we could and they both have recovered quite well. The following day, we got a call from them to check to see how the dogs were doing, which we greatly appreciated. We have been going to MSVH for many years and would not take our dogs anyplace else. All the vets, tech, and office staff are very friendly, caring, and professional! read more

Main Street Vet Hospital is the only veterinarian hospital in Norman that I trust! They have been so great from the beginning. I have a one year old black lab that has bad allergies so we've had to make several trips in and out of there for awhile. They are always quick to call me back or answer questions, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they are the only AAHA accredited vet office in Norman, which should tell you something! I'm grateful to have them as Trudy's doctor, couldn't recommend them more. read more

My Daughter and her Boyfriend we're visiting. He had a beautiful, sweet new puppy, Gertrude, well this puppy was able to squeeze under our hutch. Found some warfarin based mouse exterminator. I found the small block with a neat little bite taken out of it's side. I called Main Street and they saw us immediately. We left her there and within a couple of hours they had treated this sweet dog and gave us medication and instructions on her continued care. She's done great! They are the best. They have also provided really great for our little dog. I'm so glad we have such a quality, caring Vetinary so close. read more

claim they take exotics but really don't know anything about them. took two snakes to them, one with a respiratory infection and rampant mites. Didn't do anything at all for either problems. respiratory persisted and mites got even worse. took my snake to brookwood animal hospital in Moore and they took care of my snakes very well with an exotics vet that seemed knowledgeable. cant rate this vet for non-exotics as i have no experience with this. read more

Did several tests without going over costs. I went in for a simple checkup and shots. Without the slightest bit of information or asking about cost, they did tests that ran my bill up to $500! You cannot expect someone to come in for yearly shots and end up paying $500 because you do not explain any tests costs and just do it! There wasn't anything wrong with the pets in the first place! They were testing to get as much money as possible and without telling me anything. I had to apply for a carecredit account before I could leave because of the costs! It is ridiculous! I will be finding a new vet. read more

My best friend is dead now because of the incompetence of Dr. Barker who did not do blood tests at yearly checkups that I paid for, and mis-diagnosed my cat with "tartar buildup" when it was CKD (chronic kidney disease) when my cat had all of the symptoms and I even specifically asked them if she had CKD. Main Street Vet also refused to prescribe any type of sedative or tranquilizer so that I could calm her down for the drive for the euthanasia. I went to another vet. Dr. Barker just kept saying, "poor kitty". This does not make up for that fact that you pretended to listen to my cat's heartbeat when he had a heart murmur for over a year. In the last couple of years, we've seen almost all the vets, and have always been impressed with their patience and professionalism. Everyone at the vet is super friendly. I love that they called to check on my dog the day after her surgery. They were very informative and gave clear instructions on aftercare. I've never had a vet administer a 24 hr pain block and gave pain meds after having a dog fixe. I feel like that went above and beyond to make sure my baby was taking care of during and after surgery.
