She's too young for book club so we look for other fun stuff to do. This park is on our rotation. It's not my favorite because of the road right next to it that leads to the cemetery. You would not think that many people would take that road but you would be wrong. I have to watch my Z like a hawk as her self preservation skills are zilch. There is a soccer field here and the park is named after the lovely soccer player who was killed by a car that veered off the road and hit her while she was practicing. Her name on the park reminds me to keep a sharp eye on my sweet Z and hug her a little closer. A fitting testimony to an innocent teen who should still be with us. If you're looking for a nice slide for the young ones and some swings, this is the place. There are other things here but quite seriously, I don't know what you're supposed to do on them.

The park is decorated "freedom" style as the name suggests and has real sized piece of a train and tank for decoration along with everything being red white and blue. A big downside is it was littered with trash- water bottles, fast food cups, fast food bags, straws- it was a mess all over especially around the playground

I wish everyone in Frankfort would use the dog park instead of the Plank Trail as that would keep the Trail free of dog poo. That would be good for everyone else on the Trail and the dogs would be happy also. It is easy to register, pay the nominal fee and get a key card at the Park District office. Frankfort IS a hell of a lot more appealing since this park is there though. $50 and proof of your pup's shots gets you a year long membership. Included in that is private access to a massive enclosure that's all soft grass. There's shaded areas, free poop bags, and a time out section if your dog gets a little too excited to be frolicking out in the sun. It's honestly my dog's favorite place to play, and I don't even mind driving about 45 minutes from the city to do so.

This is a great gathering place all year long . Today was a fire and ice event. As I walked in the…read morepark area I was greeted with a big gas fed bonfire . The stage had blocks of ice ready to be transformed into clever and stunning art . The setup in the small parking lot flowed smoothly . Great job by all the restaurants that participating in the chili cook-off . The samples were so diverse , who knew chili could be so different ? Hot chocolate was available at the front and s'mores trimmings in a baggy was being distributed by local police in the back . Small wood burning fire pits were putting out the heat to toast those marshmallows . There was a very well built bags board game from ice . It was fast and slick , the challenge was fun. Two other Photo Op ice pieces were in the lot and on the stage . The event ran from Noon until 3:00 . Just the right amount of time to sample ten specialty chili's and vote for your favorite . We stayed for the award ceremony , three trophy's we're given out . The people voted fat Rosie's as the best. If you missed it try restaurant week during Feb 17 - 27 . Although the fire and ice event will remain very special to me and my fiancee . The outdoor dance in the brisk weather with radiant heat from the bonfire was epic . And thanks to the little girl who took our picture. Great community spirit during less social times .

Breidert Green is the heart of Frankfort and many of its activities. Depending on the time of…read moreyear, there are so many diverse actitivities that occur here. There are Sunday concerts in the summer and Arts and Crafts fairs in the fall. There are ice sculpting events, chili cook offs, runs and out door movies. The Green is maintained beautifully with the stage set inside a replica of the former train station. It is located along the Old Plank Trail which runs on the old railroad path. There is even a magnificent public washroom which is always spanking clean. If you come to Frankfort, you will probably see the Green. It is at its best in the summer bloom or under the sparkling holidays lights. I just love it, however corny that sounds!

I think they do a terrific job with activities for the under 14 set. I also see a number of activities that look enjoyable for Senior Citizens in their brochures. I also think they have great parks for sports and dogs. However, I don't see a lot that interests me and perhaps that is my fault, I should be more open to new activities. What I really wish the Frankfort Park District included in its repertoire was an out door pool. Yes, I know there are pools at the High Schools, I use them. Yes, I know there is a pool at the Country Club but I am not that rich. I drive to Park Forest for a summer park district facility with a terrific Adult only lap pool. Wouldn't that be great for here in Frankfort? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone with me on this idea?

Additionally, for non members it costs $7 to play and since it's the only place locally to play on Sunday mornings, it is packed. Sometimes there are as many people sitting as playing because they can't accomodate the number of people who come out.
