I am going to go ahead and give this thrift shop 5 stars simply because whenever I am in town, if I…read morecan't get in there I know I'm missing something. This is a thrift shop but does not carry furniture or large items. Most of the store is women's clothing in all sizes from Petite to Plus. There are small children's and men's clothing areas. There are also children's toys, books, purses, jewelry, shoes and some accessories. There are also several small areas with linens, collectibles, small appliances and kitchen wares. One negative is a Keurig I purchased with a tag that it works, but it didn't. It turned on but that was it. I imagine they checked it came on and assumed someone would not donate a non working item. But I paid $15 and consider it a donation to their charitable contributions. OK so the clothes are pretty much exclusively in very good condition or new. They do mark up designer brands and new items with tags. I paid $25 for a Michael Kors dress with tags, and $8 for a new child's outfit. They have easily accessed dressing rooms and a speedy check out process. They offer a frequent buyer card with $10 off when filled. The store is crowded but very well organized. Clothes are hung by type, size and color. So if I am looking for a white long sleeved shirt size small, they are all hung in one place. One positive/negative is their amazing store window displays. They decorate the windows seasonally with the best of what is donated. It is incredibly enticing to see all the wonderful items that might be available inside. The catch is that NOTHING in the window is available for purchase until after the season is over. The Christmas windows items will be available January 9th at 10 am with the line forming early. So if something you have been wanting appears in that window display you will need to be on hand at a very specific date and time, like an estate sale or auction. Because I don't even live in the area, I pretty much don't even look at the windows since I can't buy anything there. I see from other reviews the store windows cause lots of angst for shoppers and for staff apparently. But since I know the deal I just accept it. One review from 2019 talks about a children's play area. I have been shopping here 10 years at least, and there is no children's play area. There is an area of toys for sale. When I was in last week 3 small children were tearing up the toys in there and screaming into a Frozen karaoke machine. When they put it down for a minute I scooped it up and bought it for my granddaughter. Yes, it is an alcove but every toy, book and game is priced so obviously for sale. Who in the world leaves a 2 and 4 year old unsupervised in a thrift shop toy sales area? So consider that if you read it below and wondered about it.

TMB is the premier menswear store in Lancaster (they also sell clothing for women but I don't…read moretypically buy it). Excellent selection of American-made products including Allen Edmonds shoes, slacks or khakis (Bills Khakis, Keithmoor/Coppley, etc.), suits (Joseph Abboud, Canali, Tallia), most other things. A lot of fancy Italian sweaters by brands like Scott Barber. Periodic sales make some products almost affordable for a poor student like myself. Minus points for some of their brands. Stuff like Nat Nast or Vineyard Fines or Robert Talbott (the third is rather attractive but all three are grossly overpriced-- anywhere, definitely not limited to TMB). With the exception of TMB's selection of shirts (Gitman and Canali are way out of my price range but Enro has gone downhill in recent years), I think that TMB is probably way ahead of Fillings, Lancaster's other clothier, in most respects. People are also a fair amount friendlier here than at Fillings. Definitely worth a visit if you're in need of any fine additions to your wardrobe-- or just to have a look.

The custom shirts, shoes, suits, coats, are lifetime purchases - and the on-site Italian tailors make everything fit perfectly. I feel like a million bucks when I wear my TMB clothes. It's worth every penny. Btw - The personal shoppers are really the best service in the world. I'm not a fashionista, but having a personal shopper that helps me match and choose is seriously the single best reason to shop TMB.

Purple Turtle Consignment Boutique - Just picked up this cute fleece (I think that's what it's called). Actually, bought the skirt there too, over a year ago.

Third time I've tried to schedule an appointment over the last year to potentially consign nice…read morename brand items. Previous in store requests were months out. This time, in person, they can't schedule an appointment but I can come back Saturday (tomorrow) & then they can schedule an appointment. All that talk they could have just scheduled & never a thank you for my business. The way I was treated, If I wasn't white, I'd assume they were racist. I guess I don't look the way they want me to look? I heard them schedule an appointment while I was in the store with someone with a typical time frame. Don't waste your time unless maybe they already know you I guess. Maybe why their selection is so sad. Looks like a dodged a really large bullet reading a previous review with unable to get paid for sold items & get back their unsold items.

The selection is fantastic and everything is so organized. You are warmly welcomed when you enter the store and the sales people are so pleasant and helpful when you have questions regarding fashion. The value is second to none for high end brands and much of the merchandise is brand new with tags still on! I am often complimented on the way I dress and it's because I buy clothes at Purple Turtle that I could never afford at retail. Love this place!
