I found some of the clerical staff to be almost robotic. No attempt to be warm or engaging just responding with meaningless boiler plate responses that certainly were not heartfelt. Wonderful experience from the time I spoke to receptionist, to being greeted by the nurse Ashley to having Morgan my Nurse Practicioner enter the exam room. Morgan examined the skin area that was bothering me and also found another area that I needed to have removed. She explained everything that she would remove and explained all that she needed to do. I didn't have any discomfort during the 2 procedures. Morgan explained everything that I will need to do post procedures to my daughter and myself. She also said the samples will be sent out the the lab and I will be notified in about 1 week or so. If you have skin cancer, choose a derm affiliated w/a plastic surgeon. I had a bad experience here, went in for skin screening, Dr S didn't notice a spot on my scalp, I brought it to his attention and he biopsied it-was Basal cell. I returned to see Dr Krausz the Mohs spec to remove it from my scalp. Was there for 3 hours, and she said she was going to leave a gaping hole in my head b/c she didn't think she could close the wound. I had to demand that she sew up the wound. It was a traumatic experience and I'm left with a bald spot. I'm in my 40s and regret coming to this practice. There are better derm practices that are better equipped to handle skin cancer. read more

I'm super happy with this practice. I've been a patient for more than a decade (maybe even two). When someone asks for a derm recommendation--I offer up Dr Schafrank @ MLD. The office is efficient. I'm reminded by phone call and text of appointments. (I need all the reminders I can get). Dr S is so kind. He always takes a moment to ask about me and shares a little laugh as he's getting his gloves on. He is crazy thorough despite my extensive surface area. He's caught some cancer areas over the years. One spot was on my face and I asked him how he'd counsel his wife if it were her and he told me--So I did that. It all worked out fine even when one was Melanoma. My only complaint is that he takes such little samples...I can't seem to convince him to take 1 pound chunks. read more

New patient, arrived 15 minutes before appointment yet sat in waiting area as those arriving after me got in to appointments. Upon seeing Dr. Seo was rushed and she scurried out when I tried to ask detailed questions and share smartphone photos of my condition at its worst leaving the assistant to reply with ambiguous rote answers. Biopsy taken with stitches. Two weeks after appt no call back and when i called for diagnosis etc. the receptionist said "no news is good news." How about I'd sure like to know what my diagnosis is and by the way what about these stitches!? read more

This practice is absolutely terrible! I called to schedule an appointment for melasma and they had me meet with the Nurse Practitioner AJ. It took two months to get an appointment, and then it was cancelled due to weather. My re-scheduled appointment was 3 weeks later. The day of my appointment I wait for an HOUR in the waiting room, and then an additional ten minutes in the patient room. AJ met with me for 5 minutes and told me I needed to see their esthetician. No answers for other treatments over the counter or prescription, just that i had to schedule with an esthetician. Really? I paid a $40 copay, and my insurance paid for this visit on top of what I paid for a recommendation for a facial. Unbelievable! If I wanted a facial I would go elsewhere. Thanks for nothing, other than trying to push your high end cosmetic treatments. I am absolutely disgusted. DO NOT VISIT this practice! read more

My one-star review is specific to the physician my teen daughter saw for her first appointment for acne: Dr Meyerle. I understand, and thank him for his service to our nation; however, his militant attitude and approach to medicine needs to stay with the military! His demeanor is combative, egotistical, and his lack of bedside manner, atrocious. How do you possibly see a patient for the first time and not even touch them for an exam? We sought out a new practice after not having a great experience with another and attempted an educational and interactive conversation with him, expressing frustration with failed treatments in the past and sharing my daughter's concerns about repeating a treatment that was unsuccessful. Completely unsympathetic regarding her acne journey and arrogant as well. I feel he spoke in circles, did not clearly answer questions I had, pushed chemical peels that are not covered by insurance, and held inappropriate dialogue, such as inquiring what birth control my daughter had been on when she was on Accutane before. When told, "none, as she is not active", he proceeded to comment about protecting herself against rape. What?!? That is not your place to have that conversation, nor are you a reproductive medicine Doctor. Also said, "Well, if I had to have appointments like this every day, all day long, with conversation like this, I'd go into another line of work." You call yourself a professional who upholds medical and ethical standards? I beg to differ. My daughter sobbed when he walked out of the room and I requested another Doctor in the practice for her follow-up. The front desk was extremely kind and empathetic regarding our experience, even engaging the Manager. They searched for an opening in 4-6 weeks for what one of the scheduler called, "her absolutely favorite Doctor, with a great bedside manner". Hoping this is accurate and our opinion of the practice can change once that visit concludes. One thing for sure...I, nor anyone in my family, will ever see Dr. Meyerle again! I met with the nurse practitioner for a first general check up visit. It was fairly quick, but nothing was too concerning. She did answer questions I had. I did not need to wait long to be called back to the room and making the initial appointment was easy. read more

I went into the office to do an annual skin cancer screening. Being over 65 it is important to get the screening. I did a lot of unprotected sun worshiping back in the 70's and 80's. The front desk was very friendly, I sat down at a chair in the waiting room and was almost immediately called to see the doctor. The nurse that brought me back was very cordial and asked me some pre-screening questions before the doctor arrived. She was finished and Dr. Schafrank came into the room. He greeted me, asked me if there were any marks on my body I was concerned with and began the test. I was incredibly impressed by the staff and especially Dr. Schafrank for their kindness and professionalism. I'm a patient for life. read more

My 1st phone call was to verify that they had the referral and their answer was no then trying to scramble to get in touch with my general practitioner to get the referral over to them then finding out they did have the referral. I showed up on time for my appointment 15 minutes prior as per their request on a text message which stated that if I did not show up that I would be billed for it. Waited 35 minutes in the front office then asked how long the wait would be running over and they said another additional hour. Total disregard for anyone's time other than theirs. They claimed it was all of a sudden running an hour and a half behind. read more

Agree with all the earlier assessments and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - the West Chester office is a hot mess! Rarely does a live person answer when you call the office, all calls go to voicemail. Furthermore, I have NEVER received a call back, I've always had to initiative another call to this office. The office is clearly in NO rush to service their patients. The wait time exceeds 30-45 minutes, and when you finally get to the exam room, expect another lengthy wait. Today I was on hold for 17 minutes. Last year it took months, literally months to sort out obtaining the medication required for my son's condition. On another occasion for myself, no diagnosis, just 'switch brands', which I'm now finding out isn't the case. I would never recommend this practice to anyone else, as they are clearly disorganized and their complete disregard for the patient. read more

They don't spend much time with you about your skin problem, but they will force you again and again to use the pharmacy they recommend, and they will prescribe you the most expensive prescription and won't switch to the cheaper options. Several times, after leaving 3 messages and no call back, I got a hold of them and again several times I called and they said they would call me back but never did. Go somewhere else. I'm not usually one to review, and I thought maybe I was just acting in hasty judgment after a bad experience that could have been an outlier, but the other reviews here are completely validating. First off, the front desk staff is unlike anything I've seen before. I stood at the desk for what felt like an awkward eternity before being acknowledged, and it wasn't because the staff was engaged with other patients. This happened more than once, as I needed to return with the paperwork I'd filled out. I also heard the desk staff talking to each other in disparaging tones about a patient after having been on the phone with them. This is in front of a waiting room full of patients within earshot. They didn't say a name or medical condition, so it wasn't a HIPPA violation, but it certainly gave a clear idea of the respect they held for their patrons. But all that was excusable, and I would not be writing this if that were the end of the issue. The wait wasn't bad, and the physician was professional, friendly, and competent. I was prescribed an acne drug that's heavily regulated by the FDA because of the severe birth defects it causes. It requires monthly blood and pregnancy tests, two methods of "effective birth control" and registration in a national program to monitor your adherence to these stipulations. Because I have the misfortune of having a womb, I was told I needed to be on hormonal birth control or an IUD to receive the medication. I was told that this was a requirement that all physicians had to follow in order to prescribe the drug. Except...that's not what it says in the informational packet I was given regarding this national registry. Further research online would confirm this: birth control pills are not necessary as long as one commits to abstinence. When I asked about this, I was told that abstinence was absolutely not an acceptable method of birth control. I don't know if it's fear of a lawsuit or what, but this left me feeling like less of a human being with agency than a predestined baby-incubator-to-be. I don't have intercourse and have no desire to for personal reasons, so the risks associated with hormonal birth control, like blood clots and headaches, seemed a silly thing to expose myself to unnecessarily. Nevertheless, I wanted to give it a try. Getting the authorization for the national registry required calling the office with proof of birth control and two negative pregnancy tests. I called with questions about the order of the hoops I had to jump through, and never got a call back, so proceeded with what I thought was the right thing to do. Turns out I messed up and did the two required pregnancy tests before getting on birth control (would you believe it? They were negative! Because we're not fish or flowers and sperm isn't spread around in the air), so I couldn't get authorized. But that was my mistake, and I take responsibility for it. The issue was the number of times I had to call regarding this time-sensitive authorization. You have seven days from the second pregnancy test to pick up the prescription. I left no less than three messages and called no less than 8 times before I was finally got a call back from the doctor herself. She was apologetic and polite, but I couldn't justify sticking with this practice after that experience. I'll live with my acne, or I'll find a place that sees me more as an individual than a womb. read more

This place will ruin your credit. I brought my daughter there a year ago. We paid the co-pay and left. Today I got a bill from a collection company saying that I am seriously delinquent $30. I never received a bill or call from Mainline Dermatology before getting this collection bill 12 months later. I paid the collection agency instantly but have no idea what the additional $30 is for - there was no tests or anything. Awful customer service. In addition they did not help my daughter's skin condition at all. They just told her to try another brand of soap. So if you want to pay money for nothing and get your credit ruined Mainline is the place for you. read more

The staff and doctors at Main Line Dermatology are wonderful. Dr. Manion is caring and compassionate to all of his patients. He has removed suspicious moles from my husband and daughter and we have had no adverse effects. Dr. Barak has been my doctor for years and has done a masterful job removing a benign tutor from my leg related from a childhood dog bite. I enjoy going to this office and have always been treated well. As a biologist I am very picky about my family's medical care and this practice is the best. read more

I'm a fan of the many doctors I've had since becoming a patient here - I say many, because the docs seem to move on pretty often. Also, getting through to the actual office staff via phone is near impossible, I get the answering service more often than not when calling for any reason, and my messages rarely are responded to! That's not good. But when you do actually get in, the care is excellent. read more

Great experience! This was my first time ever at a dermatologist so I was a bit nervous. Not only was Dr. Curreri on time, but she was super sweet and made me feel right at ease. Her exam was quick but thorough, and although she had to do a biopsy, that was also quick and relatively painless. I was referred to this practice by a coworker and I am very pleased with their service. I'm going to set up time for my husband to go in and get checked as well. Highly recommend! read more

Although the doctor was professional, the front desk staff was and are absolutely horrendous. Not only were they unprofessional, they were incredibly rude and lazy. It took two weeks to get an answer in regards to a preauthorization on a prescription I needed, but in order for me to even get an answer I had to call them a total of 8 times within a week to actually get them to not only answer me but do their job. Each time I had to call twice for them to actually pick up the phone. When I contacted my pharmacy to see what the hold up was they told me they had sent the form to the office THREE times. When I called to check what was going on they informed me I needed to get my insurance to send them a form, I promptly called them and had them fax over the information, and I was told by the office they had received and would wait for the doctors approval, I waited a total of 4 days before contacting because I had not heard back. When I called I once again had to call twice and to be put on hold for 15+ mins WITH NO ANSWER, LEAVING ME ON HOLD, I had to hang up because I was entering an appointment. While I was on hold, I had a family member call and they were put through the same process, but was finally given an answer, alas! But the answer was that the insurance denied it and they immediately hung up on her. Rather than go through the same process I contacted my primary doctor, who was able to help me with my prescription. Their jobs are to not only help with scheduling but work with any issues concerning the patients, these people do not do that. All in all, I would not recommend anyone go to this dermatologist, there are plenty of others within West Chester that have both great doctors and terrific/attentive staff this one lacks any. read more

I felt unwelcome there. My drivers license was expired so I was told I would have to re schedule and bring my passport. Then they relented with exasperated attitude that I could keep the appointment. But was scolded to bring proper ID to future appointments. Dr. cut 5 suspect bumps off my face and chest... No warning for one that was millimeter under my eye... Just swooped in and cut. Less than 5 minutes with Doctor. I agree with previous review... Doctor was arrogant and didn't seem to notice I am a person. Then I got a bill for over $600.00 from some lab in Massachusetts. My Insurance would not cover it. I called the Dr.'s office for help and received none. I felt like just another number there... Never going back! read more
