The other day my mom and I were driving in her old Honda Civic up Dempster and we got a flat. We were right by Firestone so we stopped in but they were booked and couldn't take us for hours. They recommended Main Auto to see us quickly. Fortunately it's right up the street. We were helped by Ace who got us in quickly. He told us our tire was no good but they had new or used tires. The car was probably due for all new tires soon so I chose a reasonably priced used one for now. Ace assured me it would last a while. They installed it and also advised us of other work that the car needed. He gave us quotes and wrote everything down in case we decided to come back, but there was no pressure or upselling. He even said we could call for an appointment or just come in, although an appointment would be recommended for faster service. I looked at the reviews while we waited and saw some negative ones, but we had nothing but a good experience. I bought the new set of tires the next day and the additional work Ace had recommended was spot on! Would definitely return if needed. read more

From the very start Ace, the office manager was great. My daughter had a small accident and right away he gave me the email to send the insurance company's estimate. They have been more than accommodating and have even helped me with the supplements and follow up with the insurance company. This is my new go-to spot for all my car needs. They are locally owned, provide quality work and stellar service! Thanks Ace and team. You are truly the best! read more

This shop serviced car in for a same day emergency serpentine belt replacement and oil change. I was pleased with the service and how quickly they were able to do the work. I'm so grateful they were able to fix my car the same day! The prices were reasonable. read more

1.gave the expensive option. 2. Didn't provide an estimate. 3. Did't give a detail list of work performed. Just a lump sum bill. 4. Did work not requested. 5. Took most expensive method on each repair. 6. It was cl ar just ran up bill. 7. Would never use again. Worst. 8. Ended up $550 bill when basically wanted battery drain check. 9. Would have been higher. Except stopped work. read more

Will never take my car to this shop again!!! They charge $150 to look at your car and that amount does not go towards your bill!!! Even though it was said to us prior to us leaving it!!! Then they charge tax on top of that $150. Do not waste your money with this company!! They say one thing and then say something else once it's time to pay!!! If business is bad, then say that! But saying one thing and changing your words is unacceptable!!! Wish I would give them ZERO STARS because I would!!! read more

This business also owns Oasis Auto body next door....I was a customer here for years ....I've fixed my car here multiple times as an Uber driver....I've also had a couple of accidents and always took it to their body shop next door....when I fixed my car he always told me "life time warranty on his work" but that's all BS....I never hit my car after he fixed it (which was now over a year ago" I saw the owner at a local shop and told him about a piece that came out from the side....and told him he said he had a lifetime warranty on his work....he said he never told me that which is false....then I said YOU did....then he said "well i'm now canceling it".....this owner will tell you anything to make you feel satisfied that he did a good job but don't believe any trash that he says....I've spent thousands here and he talks like he doesn't need anyone's business.....and I told him....THAT'S WHY I DON'TBELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SAY" and he said I'll learn like my mom pahahahah (my mom has taken her car here before and he tried to overcharge her...my mom then went to another body shop and they fixed it with no issues and treated her right ....so who loses here? Don't come to this shop unless you want parts from your car to disappear, we came to this shop to get an inspection because of a problem in the car and when we ready to pick it up, parts of the car were missing ( like a big fan is supposed to be where the gap is in front of the motor ) on top of that the turbo components were all disconnected, but they said the car was ready to be picked up, thankfully we towed the car to another shop straight from main auto (we wanted a second opinion) and 5 minutes into getting the car there we were informed parts were disconnected and the whole fan and skid plates was missing. Had to go pick up the parts back from main auto and this was all very unnecessary read more

I noticed while driving a check engine light came up on my dash and the first shop I seen was main auto so I decided to stop by and have it get checked out as soon as I walk in there was a gentleman go by the name of ace he was on his phone laughing and vaping at the same time didn't acknowledge that I walked in and stood by the door for close to ten minutes until a mechanic walked up to get some parts frm the counter and I asked him for help and he told me ACE can help you he's the owner until than he finally puts his phone down and asked if I needed any help and I told him I had a check light engine and he told me he was very busy and that i needed to wait about an hour to get it looked at and that going me 150 dollars or he would waive the fee if i get the work done with him..I look over in a the bays he only had one mechanic working... so I ended up walking out without getting any service done the owner is very rude and unprofessional the way he spoke to me is not the right way to speak any customer specially when I'm trying to pay for service I didn't ask to get it done for free.. I highly don't recommend this place stay away very rude owner! read more

These are guys are amazing! I took my car in on Sunday after my front bumper got smashed. They were able to give me a fair and very affordable quote right away for a brand new front bumper installation and paint. Ace made sure to match the paint EXACTLY on my car and even though they were pretty busy Ace updated me throughout the whole time on when it would be ready. They also took it for a test drive just to make super sure everything was working fine. I appreciate the thoroughness and this is definitely the new place I'll be taking my car to for all issues! Thanks again guys :) read more

Be aware. These guys unreliable. They do shady job and overcharge people. I needed to fix leaky brake and discharged air conditioning systems in my 2006 Toyota Sienna For air conditioning systems I came three times. At first, they charge me $250 and in three days it was no more cooling. Next visit they charged $247 and in a couple days I got the same result. I came again with the same problem, and they said it will cost me $700 more. I took my car to my mechanic in Arlington Heights, and it cost me $137. Weeks passed, and the cooling system work fine. With my brake system, at first, they change my faulty brake switch for $150. In couple days I noticed that braking fluid leaking, and the car does not brake. I brought my car to Main Auto. They said that my brake line burst (old car) and this fix will cost me $1170. I towed the car to the mechanic, I know for years (but his location is 7 mi away), and for $162 this job was done right. It passed two weeks, my car ran and brake fine. read more

Terrible. Friends brought their cars here and never got it running again when we brought the car in with minor mechanical problems. Parts were missing in the car after also. Ace a worker there said he will beat a young boy for giving him a bad rating. Expose. read more

If I could give this shop negative stars, I would. The guy at the desk (I think his name was Yuri) THREATENED to hit my husband with an object, I have to say it was a bit scary. I AM NOT KIDDING if there was video footage in that room, you'd see it, but they probably destroyed it by now. My husband and I recently moved to the area and wanted to go to a shop nearby. Our car's exhaust needed repair, it was dragging on the ground. My husband was a mechanic in the past, but he doesn't have a garage or all the tools he needs at home. It is only in dire situations like this that we go to a shop. We got a wire to tie up the exhaust as best as we could and drove the car on over to Main Automotive. So, Main Auto fixed the exhaust (after being a bit rude to my husband for even trying to fix it on his own before he came over- we had the parts in the back seat). They replaced the exhaust but in the process they broke and replaced an O2 sensor. Fine, they replaced it so ok. So we get our car back $500-600 later. After a few days we finally got a chance to get into the car and notice- what the heck, the hood latch lever is gone- all that's left are wires. HOW CAN THE SHOP NOT TELL US THIS? OH wait, also, the "Check Engine" light is on. WTF?! Ok fine we'll deal with them later. We need to go grocery shopping so we drive for about 15 minutes, then all of a sudden... the car starts moving as if my husband was repeatedly taking his foot on and off the accelerator, but in reality his foot is on there the entire time! It was misfiring like crazy. We nervously kept on driving (more like jerking) to see if we could make it back home. We decided to bring it back to the shop to at least inform them about the broken/missing lever, sense we figured these guys probably would not take responsibility for the misfiring bc they seem like jerks already. We get to the shop- Desk guy is on the phone, we'll stick with the name Yuri. He asks us what we need. Husband says we notice the lever is gone. Yuri says, "Ok, well we can replace it for you but you need to pay". Husband says, "We were hoping you would be able to take care of it for us since that's how we got it back". Yuri raises his voice and immediately gets defensive, "Are you accusing me of stealing?!" Husband tries to explain no, we're saying it was gone (as in probably broken off) by one of his guys and he just wants the shop to remedy this by taking care of it... but as my husband is trying to explain this, Yuri is YELLING and not listening to a word we're saying and then accuses my husband of lying about the Check Engine light being on before we brought it in (our check engine light was not on before coming to this shop). Come to think of it.... WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO MENTION IT TO HIM YET... AHA! He KNEW something was up and didn't want to fix it. Anyway, words were exchanged, there was some swearing involved then Yuri grabs his stapler, stands up and gets close to my husbands face with it and says "DO YOU WANT THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD?!" My husbands says "Are you threatening me?!" Yuri keeps yelling and I'm about to grab my phone in case I need to call the cops, but Yuri yells at us to get out and escorts us out of his shop. Holy crap I have NEVER seen a business deal with a customer like that in my entire life. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want your head banged in by the nearest item Yuri can grab....how dare a customer return their car because the shop did something wrong! Great I really wanted to find a good shop near us and this was a huge mistake... I will NEVER give this place business again and am telling EVERYBODY I know what happened to us there. read more

We've been coming to main auto for a few years now, and this is the best auto shop in the area. Z and Ace go above and beyond for their customers, quality work for a reasonable price. I've been coming here for years since stumbling across this place when my car was in desperate need of an oil change. I have now used Main Auto for many years over the previous and current ownership. I always found Main Auto to be transparent and fair; and, I highly recommend them. Great fast service they did the oil change my got a good deal I highly recommend this place

Best place in Skokie to get your work done. It is my go to place for any type of work my car needs. The prices are reasonable and they're always willing to work with the customer to fit their needs. Ace and Zee prioritize their customers to make sure they leave the shop happy. The work done is never half assed. Warranties are provided. If you're not happy with the work done, customers are always welcome to come back and get whatever they need fixed. Walk-ins are welcome. Wait times are usually not long depending on the day of the week. This shop also sells pre-owened cars. Make sure you check out their lot for their cars!! read more

These guys are great. We have two subarus, one is a hybrid, one isn't. They do all the work on both. Recently, we had a problem with our hybrid system. Online research indicated that this would be a rabbit hole that could end up costing us thousands of dollars. These guys were on it. They tested and tested and got the right diagnosis and got the job done for thousands less than the dealership would've charged. Plus, they're nice guys and are super straight to deal with. read more

I am a regular to Ace, he has been taking care of our cars for years and I recently just bought a used 2006 Toyota Corolla from him in great condition. Total ripoff. They fixed my car and I drove it for two weeks before I had the same issues. I towed it back to them and they didn't wanna take any responsibility for their work and said there's nothing they can do about it. $670 down the drain read more

These guys are awesome! I would take any vehicle to them knowing full well that they know what they are doing, they are very good about pricing, and you can count on their expert advice. The other great reviews have to do with mechanic issues, which perhaps they are good at. However, DO NOT buy a car from them. We bought a used car from their small lot and knew that it had been in an accident. Thus, Yuri made us sign a document forgoing any future issues. Stupid me. About 2 years later, we had some hail damage and took it in to our insurance agency to get it fixed (Progressive has their own mechanic shop). From there we were told that not only was the car a rebuild, but that Main Auto did not register it as rebuilt nor did they notify us, which by law Yuri should have done. I tried to deal with Main Auto through BBB (which everyone should notice they are NOT BBB Accredited). But since we signed that document releasing Main Auto from any issues, BBB could not legally find fault with them. But, hopefully Yelp will deter some poor folks out there from being scammed. P.S. If their car sales are shady, don't you think their mechanic work will be too? read more

Was treated very rudely from the moment I came into this place. I mean very rudely!! I was looking at a used vehicle and was told that the car was in an accident; that headlights were replaced and a new hood put on the car.I was told that that was all the car needed to repair it from the accident. Had a friend in the car business run a CarFax on the car. His response was, "This is a salvage rebuilt vehicle" This dealer never mentioned that. . read more

You get a discount for yelp reviews, but this place is actually pretty solid. I can tell know what their doing by the built S2000 the guy who worked on my car owns. He treated mine the way he treated his. Prices are a bit expensive, but not for Skokie. I'll be back, no doubt about it. read more

NEW OWNERS!! Thank God. Came here after i heard some new guys took over and I'm very happy I did. I was extremely pleased with how quick yet efficient they were. There was no BS or runaround, just a fair assessment and fair prices and finished on time as promised. They serviced my car, which had a lot of problems, and i couldn't be happier with the job done. This is definitely my new neighborhood shop and would recommend anyone looking for a reliable, local and family owned shop to stop in. read more

Trustworthy auto shops are hard to find but Main Auto has not only done good work but has gone out of their way to save me money! I do my oil changes here and often have them check my tires and brakes. Highly recommended for all your auto maintenance needs! read more

These are new owners. The work was done as per the estimate. When I dropped off the car, I asked about Yuri, the previous owner. I also asked if there was was a new owner. The coowner, Ace, dodged the question. When I picked up the car, I asked again. His brother told me they had been owners for 2 months. He said what mattered was their quality work. I am not sure I will return. read more

Lets just say Main Automotive is the ONLY place I would go to for anything. In our day and age, when everyone tries to rip you off, especially if you are not knowledgeable at cars, these guys are honest and try to help you save money and time. I drive from Wisconsin to see them, because I know they are not going to offer some bogus service I don't need just to make quick buck. Both Alex and Yuri are very professional, nice, and have a sense of humor. Make my car hassles so much less awful, cause I know these guys will fix anything. read more
