UPDATE: Before reading further, know that the owners did refund me a portion of the costs because I was unsatisfied with their service. For that, I give Maids On The Spot three stars instead of the original two stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: They do a good job, but they won't use strong cleaners. If you are paying by the hour, forget it. They use a lot of time with elbow grease. But without the necessary cleaning solutions, they take a very long time. I walked the house with Dale. I told him I wanted to prepare the vacant house for sale. He assured me he'd send out a crack crew that could complete the work within the day. He said that for most of the cleaning, it would probably come to $500. That included deep cleaning and the windows. The unknown was the cost for removing old painters' tape. So I agreed to handle that as an hourly rate with a single person on that job. Two women showed up, Virginia and Kim. I was surprised that no third person came for the tape removal, but was told a third person was coming for the windows. As I looked at their tools, I knew I was in trouble. They had only household type utensils. Small vacuum cleaner, small wisk broom, nothing to scrape the tape off with, and generally, household cleaners. The window cleaner did come with a power sprayer for the screens, but only a small razor blade for scraping and I'd describe his window cleaning fluid as pretty weak. Unfortunately, Kim had a broken rib. God bless her for coming and trying, but she groaned when she moved or bent down, and she moved and bent down very slowly. Not her fault, but is this my crack crew? I'm paying hourly for a crack crew! The young man who attempted to clean the windows didn't have the chemicals or the tools needed to get off the salt deposits on the outside. He did a great job on the living room window, but many of the bedroom windows actually looked worse after he cleaned them! I could have done that and saved money! and even had fun doing it! He didn't even get to all the windows and didn't clean most of the tracks. Then he told me he couldn't do any better and had to go because he was scheduled for another job. On the bright side, they did an awesome job on the kitchen appliances and the counter tops. But even after sweeping the floors and vacuuming the rug (with the typical size vacuum cleaner), there was still loose stuff everywhere. And the other manager, Bern, said he'd send his crew back again tomorrow, but that it would cost me more than the $500 we already agreed upon. Forget it! My advice to you: If you only want a light cleaning of your house, this is probably a good service. However, for deep cleaning of more than your appliances, get another house cleaning company that has the tools, cleaners, and manpower to complete the job in the estimated time for the agreed upon cost. Had them in to clean today. Had two maids and they worked for two hours! Great job and they deep cleaned the front room and kitchen. Hand washed the floors and were so personable. A delight to have them come in and get the house completely clean. Showed up on time and did a complete job including a checklist of everything they had done. It has been a while so I would like to say that I am overall happy with the effectiveness of service, reliability and the great customer service we receive from Bern and his team. 4+ years for commercial and personal use for window cleaning and interior cleaning and haven't had any major issues to speak of. Called Maids on the Spot for a specialty clean on a home going up for sale. Vern was so accommodating and flexible and gave experienced advice. We had to reschedule once and they worked us in and even sent out their window washing guy. Impressive since I clearly indicated this may only be a one-time job and they all went above and beyond. I employed Maids on the Spot for $119 biweekly and literally got spot cleaning. I paid for the entire service but want to inform others of my experience. We were told they were going to be here 2-3 hrs and instead were here 1.5hrs. They did not vacuum except for 1 mat of which they stayed they would vacuum the floors and then mop with a real mop. The mop with an apparatus and a sponge instead. I was left with stains still on the floor from before. There was hair still on the floor. They spot cleaned. The bathrooms still had urine dripping down the seats from where they sprayed and did not wipe or clean. Grant it it was not the girls fault they were given 1.0 hr to work because there cell was alarming every 2 minutes after they were here an hour and they picked up the phone and stated they were almost done 1 hr after they had come. My house is not big 1900sqft and upset at the service and the company but not the girls who came. I want everyone to know that I called one of the owners and he said well you should have not picked Friday. If you want just less than half service where you are left with a dingy smell in your house and nothing cleaned then defiantly call this service. read more

When My son purchased his first home,the main house and casita had enough dust,dirt, and grease to plant potatoes then fry them! I called Maids On The Spot,they were so friendly,and professional,and affordable.Calling them on a Wednesday ,they were able to meet my sons schedule and send a team out on Saturday! And a team it was! Bertha and Sandra are amazing.. There wasn't any grime left behind, The tubs he didn't have high expectations on, but this team came through..everything smelled so fresh and clean. I went in for a job interview and was not there for even 5 minutes before one of the bosses, Dale or Bern, began acting racist towards the other employees. I was sitting in a room with other workers and they looked like they were on a break, eating lunch, just hanging out and talking to each other. That's when one of the men came out and began "politely" asking one of the female employees to stop speaking Spanish (there is no polite way to tell someone to stop speaking their language and he was being very condescending), his reasoning being that it's his company and he is English speaking, so everyone should speak English. The employee was very mature about it and simply stood up for herself and quit. That was when I walked out as well. It was very uncomfortable to see how this head of the company treated their workers, especially right in front of a potential new employee. It is not a company I would work for or hire. read more

Horrible experience. Bern is extremely disorganized. I set an appt with him, but then he later had to change it because he had overbooked for that day. I had no problem with rescheduling. Office help, Sandy, called to confirm time with me. I couldn't make it at that time, as I had to meet my son at his school. I could meet any other time that week, as I work from home. She told me Bern would call me to coordinate a time. No call from Bern. 2 maids show up unexpectedly; no notice. I have 2 high school boys, so you can imagine my surprise when maids showed up unannounced. I knew the bedrooms and bath had to look like an explosion went off. So, I raced around picking up clothes, water bottles, shoes, etc. while on a conference call which I had previously scheduled. Extremely annoyed! Sandy called to tell me the maids were on my front porch, and I said I wasn't expecting them. She said, "Oh didn't Bern call you?" I asked her to have him cal me immediately. So I tell the maids what I'd like done, starting with the plant shelves. I had a coupon for 2 hours, 2 maids $109 and the coupon read "happy spring cleaning". Well they don't do plant shelves for liability reasons; can't go over 3' off the ground. They told me I could call and request that as an additional service, but that someone else would have to come out and dust the shelves. Isn't that part of "Spring Cleaning", cleaning those hard to reach places that don't get cleaned often!? That was the main reason I decided to have the place cleaned. Every single other place I have used over the years has always included that in the Spring Cleaning!!! They couldn't do the tops of my cabinets either, for the same reason. He called about 20 minutes later. He was kind of laughing and said, Oh, I hear we gave you a surprise. Not the least bit funny. I was still picking up the house so they could clean. He said Sandy didn't communicate to him that she told me he'd be calling me to set up a time. So, I super annoyed already, first because I had no notice that they were coming so parts of the house were a disaster, and now they weren't able to do what needed, which was the whole reason I called them in the first place. Bern said he wished he could think of something to do to make up for my frustration, but he couldn't think of anything! Really? The only thing he could think of was to pull the maids off the job.I thought, I just ran around the place for the last 30 minutes scrambling to pick everything up so they could clean. He asked i I had any ideas, and my reply was to send the guy over to clean the plant shelves. I thought that was reasonable. There are 2 long shelves; that's it! Oh no, he wouldn't be able to do that because I was only using the flyer and that isn't included in his Spring Cleaning. he again said he could pull the maids off the job, and I said not necessary, but maybe you should train your office help to be better communicators when they commit you to do something, so that you follow through with it. I told him that he was forcing me to give him a bad review. So, with that, he hung up on me. A grown man resorts to hanging up on a client. Bern, if you are that overwhelmed, maybe you should hire more help. Then he called the maids and pulled them off the job. I thought the maid was going to cry. You are very unprofessional and disorganized. My husband owns his own business and so do our boys, and YOU DON'T TREAT CUSTOMERS THAT WAY, EVER!!! LADIES OF VAL VISTA LAKES, NEVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY! PS-This is the second time I had called his company. The first time was a few years ago for a quote to clean something, but when arrived he said that whatever it was, he could do that either. Hopefully I won't forget about this in a few years and call them again. Bern, do me a favor and put a note in your computer too remind me not to use you!
