My local library is great and they regularly have new books. The 'quick look' section is brilliant for me because I don't have time these days to spend ages browsing the shelves. The staff have always been very helpful and it is very child friendly. Ironically the baby and toddler group on a Friday morning is the only thing that I don't really like. It's a really good idea providing activities for children but the librarians leading the sessions are not always consistent. One week I made a real effort to get there for 10 and the lady said there were no puppets because she couldnt find the key for the toys cupboard and she also couldn't remember the all the words to the songs. OK, it might seem like I'm being a bit anal but believe me it's enough effort to get an 11 month old baby out of the house before 10 so the least she could do was find the toys to entertain the children and remember the songs! Also the Friday groups gets so packed that there's hardly enough space for the children let alone the parents to even squat. read more
