Here is an email I wrote to this company regarding overgrown hedges on a property which Magsen manages :
"This email is written with regard to the eastern border of Strata NWS3135, otherwise known as Capella Garden, in Richmond.
This border has hedges that have become overgrown, and now trespass onto neighbouring private property situated at XXXX Patterson Road.
These hedges require your immediate attention.
After your visual inspection, you will see that the distance of the trespass exceeds ten feet in one location.
At another location, the hedge is pushing the privacy fence directly against a garden shed located on the neighbouring private property.
I respectfully ask that you remedy all of the offending hedges at your earliest opportunity.
Please respond with your intended plan of action."
Here is their response :
"Further to your email dated June 2, 2014 we conducted a visual inspection on site with a strata council member on June 6, 2014 and consulted with Building Approvals Division of City of Richmond. The City determined that there is currently no bylaw guiding tree trimming across property lines and confirmed that you can trim any part of the trees on your side of the property line. This is subject to you hiring a licensed tree maintenance contractor to perform the work. No cutting of any tree is allowed. Council has accordingly approved the tree trimming at your at your own expense."
As you can plainly read, they are telling me to take responsibility for trees clearly not owned by me. According to Magsen, it is also my responsibility to pay a licensed contractor to do the trimming. The most disturbing part of their response is the way they have conveniently implicated the City of Richmond. As this is clearly a civil matter between Magsen, and myself, the City of Richmond has no jurisdiction. When I asked Magsen to provide the name of the officer at City Hall, Magsen refuses to co-operate, and provide a name.
Where is the professionalism. Where is the integrity. Where is the honesty. If this is how they treat a neighbour, dare to imagine how they treat the residents that pay the maintenance fees to this company. read more
