For any brides-to-be having a freakout about finding THE dress, go to Fleur Bridal NOW! She saved…read moreme from having a total meltdown and I would not hesitate to recommend Fleur Bridal to anyone. So here's what happened: it was seven months before my wedding, which sounds like a lot of time but in wedding dress terms, that is pretty much down to the wire. I had tried on over 30 dresses and found absolutely nothing I would consider wearing. A friend who was getting married a few months before me had found her dress at Fleur so she took me there. The shop itself is decorated beautifully and with great style. Fleur is the owner, salesperson, stylist - everything! So you really do get a personalised service from someone who actually cares. It was the first bridal shop I went to where I immediately got a good vibe and knew I would be taken care of. I showed up in a sweatshirt and jeans and I swear after about five minutes of chit chat - not even discussing what I was looking for in a bridal dress - she pulled three dresses for me. And... I loved each of them! I felt so relieved and in about 30 minutes went from thinking I would be wearing a paper bag down the aisle to now not being able to choose between three! Fleur said - well I thought we needed to give you some dresses that reflected old Hollywood glamour from the 40s. Um, that was exactly what I wanted but I had not told her that. When I asked her how she knew that was the look that I wanted, she said she could just tell and knew those silhouettes would look best on me. This was my first clue that Fleur really knew what she was doing. My dress was made to measure so I had to go back a few times for measurements and alterations. This meant I spent a little more than I had originally budgeted for, but Fleur has dresses in lots of price ranges and will help you figure something out. The alterations process went smoothly and they didn't cost much more on top of the price of the dress All of the times I went into the shop, Fleur was so nice and excited and you could tell she really loves what she does - she even tries on all of the dresses so she can tell you how they feel and give you a better idea of the dress instead of just reading the label and telling you the material and cut. She's very supportive but will give you honest opinions. I've been in other bridal shops where the bridal assistants dropped hints that they thought I was too big for any of their dresses or that none of them were in my price range...but Fleur is SO not like that and it was very refreshing. After having such a positive experience with Fleur, that was when I went from stressed about everything to really excited. She doesn't have a website so you just have to call and make an appointment and stop by. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed!

Betsey, you're a dream come true. The clothes here are like I've died and gone to petticoat heaven. In the sale dresses start from around £180, but a dress from Betsey isn't just for Christmas, it's for life! Just in terms of play time in front of my mirror it's worth every penny. When they didn't have what I needed they took my number and called me when it was in, then put it on hold for 3 days while I decided if I really wanted it. Even the glitzy costume jewlery is fabulous, oh and the bags! Like I said - heaven!

Renowned for her bold and elaborate designs, the shop is decorated as so with a bright pink neon sign outside and the interior decorated with rose print wallpaper and colourful floral accessories. Her collection is rather eccentric in style but very wearable and though a little more on the expensive side, worth an investment if you are looking for something with a bit of pzazz. Johnson is a real character who made huge moves in the 60's and this shop is a great opportunity to purchase something with energy and that will always be cool.
