The best parking and access is at Rowsley station, where staff are friendly and helpful. Wheelchair and buggy access is good, if not total, and there is a disabled access carriage normally in operation (if not, you have the option of the luggage carriage, where you also store buggies for the journey). Price wise, a family day ticket is less than £20, so not a bad price these days. The ride is a nice length, with some good scenery along the way.
