The lobby is bright and welcoming, the bar and restaurant was neatly kept and open, and the rooms were surprisingly spacious and updated. I've been to big brand hotels that weren't as updated! The menu and quality of food was exceptional! From a home cooked hot breakfast to the varied dinner menu. Everything that was available was delicious! My only complaint is that the serving staff in the diner, with one shining and amazing exception, didn't seem to be happy doing what they do and were either uninterested in serving us or unaware of what was on their menu. I wish I could recall her name, but my inlaws basically adopted her by the end of our first night there.

And no I didn't complain, I just cleaned it myself. The counter areas where the tv and desk are were not wiped down and cleaned at all. Sticky drink rings in 3 different areas. Counters themselves were sticky, crumbs on the counter and on the floor. Floor was not vacuumed at all. Even the hallway to going to my room was dirty and not vacuumed. A coworker suggested I stay at another hotel about an hour away, based on his stays in the past. The lady who checked me in was nice and friendly. My room looked nice at first glance. The underside of the toilet seat and its base were not clean. Mildew in the shower and along the bathroom floor. It was late and the hotel was full so I wasn't offered options of another room. There was no hot water in the shower the next morning. I waited about 20 minutes and still no hot water. Waited some more but had to endure a really cold shower on a very cold day. I mentioned the lack of hot water to the front desk clerk who said there is only one hot water heater and it always runs out when the hotel is full. I suggested the hotel upgrade the current equipment or get an additional one. The clerk just shrugged her shoulders as if it would never happen. Since I was running late, I picked up the grab & go breakfast bag. Another big disappointment as the banana was brown and the bagel was past its expiration date. Another fail! Next time I will listen to my coworker and stay in another town. I suggest avoiding this hotel until they get their hot water situation fixed.

Also, The Sinclair is a great option for specialty coffees & light breakfast. This is a great option for a nice stay in this beautiful antebellum Southern city.

Pool area was closed all weekend, even though when booking it said was open and that was a big reason we booked this hotel. There looked like mold on the shower head and on the tub. There was used plastic spoon, fork, and knife in a side table. The vent above the toilet was very dusty, not sure if cleaned. There was a chip in the side table. And the WiFi was where you have to go to a separate page to log in on your phone and you are unable to use any systems you bring in the WiFi. Tried to ask to pay for a soda and front desk said it was for higher members. Tried to use the vending machine instead and it was out of order. The shower bar for the curtain was off a little. Check out was at 12 and they called around 11 and 11:45 to remind you it was at 12. Do not disturb was on door at check out and around 11:30 we had a knock on the door from housekeeping. Felt a big pushy to leave before check out time. Breakfast was not mine or my husbands favorite. We ended up not eating much and going somewhere else to eat. They didn't refill the milk the first day when we came down and the second day the milk was a little warm.
