This hotel is filthy. When I entered the hotel, the whole place reeked of cigarettes and no one was wearing a mask (employees included). I got to my room and it was filthy. Mystery brown stains on the chair, pube on the bathtub, piss stains on the toilet. I called the front desk and he offered to move me but I figured all the rooms would be just as dirty, so I just asked for cleaning supplies and I cleaned it myself. While the room was nasty, the front desk guy was very helpful and kind and the only redeeming factor about this hotel. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for allowing people to pay to stay in a place that is cleaned so poorly. The photo included of the rags is how dirty there were after I cleaned my "clean" room. 0/10, don't stay here. read more

Was excited to have a nice night in a suite. However our room was pretty gross. Even the phone was discolored and nasty. The pool was out of order and the lady I spoke to on the phone before booking failed to mention it, even when I asked if they had a pool and hot tub area. We went out with friends and family and came back late to find our room wide open and propped that way. When I told the front desk lady she said no one was in there from the staff and "huh that's weird and creepy" So we don't know who was in the room but someone did "fix" the toilet with a rag. Our room was $140 for the night, kind of thought our experience would have been at least a little better. read more

This place was disgusting. The entire place was filthy. Our room had dirty stained sheets, a dirty stained comforter and mystery stains on the beds dust ruffle. The tub was black and I wouldn't have bathed my dog in it. The manager said it was just wear...so they moved us to a second room, as soon as we pulled back the comforter there was a brown stain on the sheet in the middle of the bed. That was enough, we left. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I'd like to also add that none of the staff wore a mask during this pandemic either. There was no hand sanitizer anywhere, but they did have a big bowl of mints that everyone can stick their hand into if they want. Yuck. read more

Normally, when I work in Kankakee, I stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, but it was too pricey this time. I found this hotel on the Hilton site and was skeptical because the reviews mentioned it was dated, but I booked it anyways. First of all, it appears that the facilities have been updated. The front desk area, lobby, and rooms were all a bit different from the pictures on here. It is not a five star resort hotel, but it is VERY clean and welcoming. The real reason I was so pleased with this facility, however, was the staff. I was only in the hotel for a total of ten hours... but the check-in staff and the check-out staff were kind and helpful and made friendly conversation. I work for an event company and usually arrive at my hotel late in the evening, around midnight, and it was refreshing to have someone kind and welcoming. As an added bonus, there are a few restaurant options nearby and if the free breakfast at the hotel doesn't suit you, there is a Cracker Barrel in the adjacent parking lot. Oh! and free wifi. What can I say here, other than...It's a Hampton, and all that entails. Normal beds, normal breakfast, normal service, and that's fine with me - it's the reason I keep coming back to Hamptons. It is worth noting that in mid December, at the time of my stay, they were renovating the lobby, so breakfast was upstairs in a converted large hotel room or conference room. Stayed here 2 weeks ago with the family. It's new and clean. Well they got a few things right until our day that we were going to check out. I had move the bags out to our car and took the kids to breakfast. This was 8am. My son didn't sleep well that night. My wife and I thought it would be a good idea to go back to the room to just relax. Upon opening the door, I had noticed the room was already torn down. The sheets were gone, towels taken out. I didn't even check out?!?! I remembered my son slept with his toy plane. I asked him where it was and luckily found it on the window ledge. I didn't know the hotel checked us out based on us moving our bags to the car. I explained this to my wife as we were leaving the hotel. She was already off site. She called and explained to our surprise with the front desk operator berating her that we had already emptied out the room. Check in was a breeze, however, the room was a little dingy and there were water stains everywhere. The bed was made half-hazardly. Save for the state of the room, the staff was extremely friendly and.accommodating. Wow what a difference a few miles make. The Hampton inn in Macomb is an amazing, beautiful, well kept property. This is the polar opposite of that. Stained mattress, cracked walls. Dirty floors and paper thin walls. Paid over a hundred dollars (worth it for the Macomb property) and feel like I stayed at the Bobs rooster hotel and chicken farm. I did not realize there is still smoking rooms in hotels. We were mistakenly put in one, but changed immediately. The pool was out of service and had plastic bottles floating in it and some substance in the bottom. Towels had holes ant there were Cheerios on the floor in the room. There was something on the floor in the bathroom that may have been vomit. There were handprints on the mirrors and writing on the windows when steam hit them. It's definitely a cheap hotel. read more

My room was infested with ants! On top of that, the room was very dirty and ran down. There was dirt all over the floor as of no one vacuumed in weeks and the hallway reeked of heavy cigarette smoke even though the rooms were "non-smokable". I got this room through an app called Agoda when I called to talk about the horrible conditions they told me that it was the companies responsibility to "refund the money" I then went down to the front desk to tell the attendant the condition of the room and came to find her and the maintenance lady making fun of the situation! And then after trying to call the owner for like 1 minute she told me she couldn't get in contact with him and that he and the general manager are the only ones who can issue refunds...... mind you that I gave them all of my information and nobody has reached back to me about anything. I know $70 isn't a lot of money to some ppl but it is to me and I'm not about to fork over that kind of money to a place that I didn't even stay for more than 15 minutes! DO NOT STAY HERE. So I stayed at this hotel a few couple of years ago when it switched from a Hampton Inn, it was great. Unfortunately I came back based on that. It is obvious that the owner must not care about his hotel. Cannot believe how run down it has become. There basically is damage everywhere you look. The carpets need cleaning badly, they crunch when you walk on them. Things are broken everywhere including the pool. Sign says down for maintenance but front desk says it has not been open for a month. I do not want to sit on couch in room, it is discussing. Tile in bathroom is filthy. If things continue the way they are , this place will be a total dump within six months. Will not be back. What a shame that such a nice hotel has been trashed. read more

This hotel will not be around long. Nothing worked. The pool had been closed due to a health violation and never was opened in the three days we were there. The elevator did not work after the first day. The toilet backed up the second night we were there and when we called the front desk to advise and ask for help they were there in a couple minutes and handed us the plunger to plunge the toilet ourselves. (really ???) The room was never cleaned the entire time we were staying there. Only the beds made and new towels put in the bathroom. There were fruit loops on the floor from the previous guests and we even moved the coffee table to let them see the mess and vacuum. They never vacuumed the room. There was food in the fridge from the previous guests. They did not seem to care when we brought this all to their attention. The bed was comfortable and we had a view of Cracker Barrel which we ate at everyday. No thanks Magnusom, Go back to the basics and find a good hotel management team. read more

This hotel was terrible. Took 20 minutes to get someone to the desk to check in. When we finally got settled and headed to the room we could smell cigarette smoke even tho it was non smoking. The room itself smelled terrible. There were no sheets on the bed and the bathroom tub was dirty. We did not receive a refund when we immediately left and checked out. Being military, I was passing through and made a two-night pre-paid reservation here. However, I had to have some last minute changes. When I tried to call them to say that some stuff happened and I can only stay the one night, the first lady I talked to was apologetic and said she'd be willing but it won't let her in the system and to call overarching Magnuson. When I called Magnuson, they had to call the hotel to verify that it would be OK for me to change my reservation, and this time the person who called on my behalf was told "no refunds, no alterations" because I had pre paid for the room. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again. Do they not understand that sometimes last minute things just happen to military personnel? Secondly, I don't think their pool EVER works. It's always "under maintenance." The only reason I am giving the two stars instead of the one is because the last time I stayed, the ladies were super awesome. read more

If you want a nice, quiet room on the weekend, avoid this place. It's"family friendly" which means brats and their kids are running all over the halls until late and they don't remain in their rooms! Also, the satellite tv cuts in and out if there's a strong breeze outside. All in all, definitely not worth the price considering they don't care if families literally take over the hotel! ! My first stay at Magnuson won't be my last. I normally stay at Hilton Garden Inn, but my most recent stay out there wasn't good. The room smelled VERY musty at Hilton. I used to live in the Bourbonnais area and I visit several times a year. The Magnuson used to be a Hampton Inn, so I was familiar with the bulding, but not the name. I decided to give it a try. I had a very pleasant experience. It is not the most updated place in town, but it was clean...it didn't smell musty...and the staff was very nice. First, this hotel is NOT a Hampton Inn. It's the Magnuson Hotel, whatever that is. It definitely isn't up to the Hampton standards. The lumpy (yes, I said lumpy) comforter, the drapes that didn't fully cover the windows, the loud air conditioning, the pseudo-"fitness center" (1 bike, 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical), and the weirdly cloudy pool were unimpressive. In the middle of nowhere, the price of this hotel is outrageous, especially given their basic unresponsiveness to customers. It's a tired Hampton. Very frenetic energy, front desk and employees talk with each other instead of their guests. Elevator is old. Fitness Center is cramped, stuffy and small. Elliptical, treadmill and medicine balls. Looks like they just do what the franchise agreement says is the bare minimum standards. The room is nice sized with the new Hampton upgrades but it's just an old Hampton with new stuff in it. If ever back in this area I will select another hotel. Our room was absolutely filthy. No words. The bathroom had not been cleaned, one of the beds had been made over dirty shirts, and the bedside table had a sticky substance all over it. While the front desk staff was kind and apologetic they had no other rooms and it was late. I cleaned our room and changed the sheets on our bed. It took 5 days for the manager to call me after leaving a note that day and then calling and leaving messages. This hotel is a little bit older, but it's clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and easy to deal with. They have a nice breakfast in the morning, and the rooms have a fridge and a microwave. Let me begin by saying that I never stayed here, but I was on a bus ride up to Midway and ended up being severely ill with Kidney Stones and had to pull off and be dropped off until a friend could come and get me. When I stopped I just needed a warm place to stay with a bathroom in case I became sick. They were during breakfast hours and Tina, the breakfast attendant was beyond amazing. She made sure I had tap water at luke warm temperature, she walked me to and from the restroom and ensured I was okay when I walked out and she also offered to keep an eye on me as I was sick. It was only a short time before my friend came and it was absolutely amazing to have someone so genuine and care so deeply about even someone that wasn't staying with them WHILE also paying super close attention to everything the actual customers needed. Typical Hampton Inn. It is older but has been updated. My favorite aspects of Hampton Inn are comfortable bed, good sheet, good towel, and good coffee. Wifi is acceptable...you can stream videos...but it isn't fast. Pool is decent. Breakfast is fine but did seem light comparable to others. This hotel is run down. Nothing works I had to switch rooms 3 times. First time there were period stains in sheets second time the bathroom sink and tub didn't drain. Rooms smell sour probably from air conditioner and it rattles all night. There are stains in bathroom and black stains in tubs . Where do I start? Well while entering the building there is a sign that states the pool is closed. Then while walking to the elevator you are overwhelmed with the scent of marijuana. Then the tv doesn't work in the room. When I called the front desk I am told that maintenance was suppose to have been on the way 45 min prior to fix the issue. We waited over an hour and they still did not show up. We then made our way to the front desk and demanded a refund. The girl their called her gm who was as unprofessional as they can get, the phone was so loud we heard every word spoke . We expressed not only the few bad experiences we had but upon further reading reviews, we saw people mention the presence of bed bugs. That was the final straw. We heard the gm tell her employee to tell us too bad and that we will just have to deal with it. And I quote "that is a bunch of bullshit", is what her boss told her. This use to be my go to spot until my last trip for New Year's Eve and the day after. My significant other and myself get here. There is someone else's hair in the shower and bed. The ac/ heater was making so much noise the last night we were there that we couldn't sleep. Tv was going in and out of connection every 10 minutes. Rips in the couch, mold on top of the shower. Cut myself and didn't realize it before bed the first night. Took all sheets off prior to starting 2nd day. Returned late realized they put the same sheets that were on the floor back on the bed. The manager was very nice. And helpful. However when she talked to the owner. He would not give us a discount for the shitty room service. Instead he would have wanted us to change rooms at midnight. After a full day of work and a 20 hour drive, we had the pleasure of sleeping next door to a room full of children. The second night, we were awoken by two drunk people fighting in the hallway all night. Then awoken again by the cops beating on the doors. Then awoken AGAIN by the front desk person beating on the door. The bed was seriously uncomfortable and the people throwing each other into our door, WORST hotel i have stayed at. Management was aware of the fighting and the cops, but still refused to give any sort of credit for the inconvenience of spending the weekend there and having to drive the 20 hours there and home with NO sleep. I will NEVER let anyone i know stay there. If you are down for midnight drunken fights and dealing with cops, go ahead, but never again will i stay in this nightmare of a hotel. read more
