On a lark I decided to try the Valparaiso Inn on the way home from a road trip that crashed and…read moreburned due to a check engine light It was a great experience! Pricing was in line with hundreds of other rooms I have had at Hotels across America, Asia and Europe. The personal touch the owner, Jim added to the experience was amazing! Tea, when I checked followed By Tea and handmade breakfast. All the rooms have in-suite bathrooms, Jim did all the work on the renovations! Over 4 years, the workmanship was incredible! Though not on my way to anyplace I am likely to go, I will definitely stay here again. As an FYI, I have over 2300 nights at Bonvoy properties and a few hundred spread across other hotel chains. I know great rooms and an exceptional experience

I've never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast so I had no idea what to expect. First, I was unaware that…read morecheck-in time was between 3-6 PM so I felt bad that we arrived after 8 PM. However, Jim (the owner and host), was extremely gracious and welcoming. We went straight to our rooms after a brief "interview" with Jim. Necessary to determine our likes and dislikes for breakfast. Our rooms were beautiful. Impeccably kept. We learned Jim is responsible for laying the tile in the bathrooms. There aren't any televisions in the rooms on purpose. I'll be sure to pack a book next time I stay at a B&B. Our daughter was with us so it was nice to visit with her instead of being distracted by a television. Our first morning, we had breakfast with a few of the other guests. Jim prepared Scrambled Eggs served in a Roasted Bell Pepper, with Asparagus, Garlic Grits (AMAZING), salad and fruit. Prior to receiving our main breakfast course, we were served warm, cinnamon bananas and also a chocolate croissant. The next morning, we had a private breakfast. We were served Poached Pears, a Carrot Cake muffin, followed by Quiche, Potatoes, Sausage, & fruit. Both days, Jim catered to my daughter's dislike of eggs making her French Toast with Cinnamon Apples the first day and Oatmeal with Cinnamon Apples (our suggestion) the second day. The entire Inn is very inviting. Jim sat with us at breakfast our second and last morning and shared his story with us. Highly recommend the Valparaiso Inn. So glad we were booked here.

I hope not to stay in another hotel in Chicago again. The Publishing House is just that charming…read moreand wonderful. The rooms have everything I want: a place to hang my clothes, shelves to put my things, a desk to work upon, an easy to connect to bluetooth speaker, nice bath products, and a comfy bed with great sheets. There's a closet with clothing steamers (a must have hotel item for me!), irons and DISTILLED WATER. Anyone who is serious about steaming uses distilled water to do it. (Thank you for knowing this, Publishing House!) I went directly to this closet to get myself a steamer! There's a kitchen where you can make yourself a pot of tea (or coffee) any time, a fridge you can put your food in, and a beautifully appointed living room that you can hang out in (with, or without, your friends). I don't usually eat breakfast but the breakfast (included in your stay!) is too good to pass up! Glorious cooked breakfasts plus fruit, granola, yogurt, and homemade baked goods. The staff is made up of talented and attractive staff who are also kind and helpful. The Publishing House is my dream come true. If I could find a place like it in New York, Toronto, and LA I'd be 10X happier to travel to those cities.

It's become a comfortable place for me when visiting back home. I've stayed at great places all over the globe, including a lot of impressive B&Bs (and a few not so impressive!). Arbor Hill Inn is a gem. The rooms are appointed comfortably. They have themes, and from my perspective, are done without being cloying or over the top . The prices are reasonable and the breakfasts are a lovely (and nicely done) way to start the day. The owners and staff are very accommodating and pleasant, and know how to run a place without being intrusive (the house and annex are laid out in a way that one has decent privacy).

From the first phone call, the staff (Chris) accomodated every request from a larger room to a later check in! She was also very helpful in determining realistically how long our travel from Midway would take! While in residence in Uncle Karl's room, we were treated to freshly baked cookies and tasty breakfasts. The wedding party took over the place and the owners didn't seem to mind at all! Great place for a wedding! Upon returning home, my husband realized he left a club on the golf course! The club was located but the course was not helpful in sending it across the country. Never mind, Laura at Arbor Hills to the rescue! With a bit of online coordination, UPS picked up the club and my husband received it in good time and stead. Talk about the extra mile! Don't know when we will be back, but for sure we will stay here again! Thanks for making our stay comfortable!
