This place is terribly understaffed over and over again. I walked in, and there were 6 tables open, but I was not cleaned off. People were waiting, but the servers are the only ones cleaning tables, and there are not enough to keep up. I got my coffee and was told she was rolling silverware. 10 minutes later, I still haven't seen any. I keep coming back here hoping for change, but I feel like the management does not have a hands-on approach and maybe doesn't see the need for more staff. The omlette is unusually small. The prices here are high enough to justify more staff and a reasonable amount of food without using thick toast and excessive hash browns to satisfy the diner. read more

We stopped in for a coffee this morning for a nice casual atmosphere where we could sit and do some puzzles together. We love it here because the people are always very welcoming and, well, the food and beverages are delicious too, of course. This morning we only had coffee though. I tried something off their Halloween menu, It's Freakin Bats espresso beverage, and absolutely love it! The other drinks off their spooky seasonal menu look delicious too. I had to revisit Magnolia Cafe since my first review was during opening week and they were just getting started. I arrived around 10:30 am and there were 3 tables with people and 20 empty tables. The 2 waitresses were very attentive and the Cafe is definitely clean and orderly. I've attached the breakfast and lunch menu along with a separate menu for drinks. They have a very nice selection for breakfast and lunch so I tried the full breakfast bowl, which was very good. The prices are reasonable and compare more to a 2 star restaurant. I think this place will really be popular once the word gets out so I'm going to enjoy it while it's one of the best kept secrets in Yulee. read more

They have a lot of options to choose from on their menu. The cappuccino was great. The French toast bought itself is amazing. However they top it with the refrigerator, cold, canned peaches. Let me tell you something about this place!!! Firstly, I am a foodie, I expressly say this place has absolutely knocked it out of the park. I had zero expectations walking in. As you enter, you are presented with the menu and donut display, while limited today I am sure it was due to the time that we arrived. It has been my experience that Most donut shops are open early and closed early or when they sell out of donuts. We ordered a variety of donuts to experience complimented them with a hot Matcha latte.( also awesome ) I selected the Cajun Benny for breakfast. Absolutely delicious !! This is one that I think Justin Wilson would be proud to eat. The hints of Cajun seasoning throughout are present without being overwhelming. That spicy smoked sausage is the perfect way to accentuate this dish. I was impressed by the perfectly poached egg, both were spherical and cooked perfectly. I even had to inquire as to how they achieved that delicious level. In my opinion this stole the show over the Donuts but that's just me. Mind you, the donuts are good. This place has been open less than 2 weeks but you may know of them from their food truck! I asked and they're open 6am-2pm. Came in today for brunch and loved it. It's a little expensive but worth it to support local. We got donuts which were good, scrambled eggs with cheese and hasbrowns which were nothing special but still good, deviled eggs (good but just a little hard...we did come at 12:30 though), side of fries (huge and yummy) and YUMMY chicken sliders. As good as the food was, that's how bad the service was. The place isn't that big so 3 waitresses and a busboy should be able to handle it. We waited at least 10 minutes just to figure out when a waitress was going to be coming over because other tables were being serviced, and we were neglected. The waitresses were too busy cleaning tables and not taking orders. We both got coffee and the waitress said she'd bring spoons but never did, so we had to stir it with our knives. This was my second visit to Southern Donut Company and I was not disappointed! I ordered the Fried Chicken and Buttermilk Biscuit sandwich and Oh My Goodness! It was amazing! It came with hot honey glaze, pimento cheese and red pepper jelly on it. Just enough spice to give it some zip and those flavors blended together so well! The chicken was fried perfectly. Super crunchy outside and tender inside. The biscuit was perfectly baked and didn't crumble when I picked it up. You are missing out if you don't try it. Bottom line: donuts taste cheap, the coffee is the worst I've had from a coffee shop in some time, and the service is mixed. I've given 2 stars because the atmosphere, decor and ambiance are on par with some of the nicer coffee shops we've been to. So to be fair, we did come at 12:30 pm so we weren't expecting amazingly fresh donuts. But freshness was not the issue. The donuts are small, the frostings and fillings tasted bottom of the line, and with some of the donuts, they simply tasted odd. I ordered a large decaf mocha. Apparently the team member wasn't paying attention because when I verified with the barista that it was decaf, he said that wasn't on the ticket. When he gave me my drink, it was a medium instead of a large like I'd asked. Turns out, though, that getting a smaller one than I'd ordered was a blessing in disguise, because it was the worst mocha I'd had in a long time (think diner coffee with generic chocolate syrup mixed in). The service aside from the mishap with the mocha was fine. The barista and one of the bussers were friendly enough, and the dining room was pretty clean. The decor, music, lighting and overall ambience was nice, which was part of why we were confused about the low quality of the donuts and coffee. They also had coloring pages for the kids, which we appreciated. But nice trimmings don't make up for poor substance. There are a few stellar donut and coffee choices in the Jax area, so we'll go ahead and pass on this one from here on out. read more

They must be short on silverware. Asked twice for silverware and then finally received some. Because I hadn't used it yet she asked for it back!!! Really!!! I like to have silverware in case some of my burrito falls out then I won't need to use my fingers to eat! I also wanted to cut my donut in half, but now I had no knife. So I used my straw! Was very excited to see a donut truck. Stopped and picked up an 8-pack of donut holes: maple bacon & salted caramel. They were very tasty. My only criticism was cost (ouch) and size (tiny...teeny). If these were $2, there would be a line. I'd hoped to get a regular donut and I'm not sure if they do them some days or just the holes. Conversely, prices for their breakfast items are reasonable and that menu looks great. Didn't try any of that yet, but will go back for that...but not the holes. The donut was awesome. The rest of the breakfast was OK. The biscuits are not fresh out of the oven. Mine was warmed on the grill. The middle was cold, so it was yucky to bite into. They got me toast, but I was really looking forward to a fresh hot biscuit. There are really no good biscuits on Amelia. Did I mention the doughnut was really good? I'll go back and grab a dozen and try one of the coffee drinks but I will probably not have breakfast. Although doughnut and coffee sounds like a good breakfast to me. First visit. Got there around 8:00 on a Friday. Not crowded at all. Maybe 10 people eating. I ordered a coffee, a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, cheese on white bread and two doughnuts. As others have said the doughnuts are smaller than the average ones. They were good though. One reviewer said they are cake doughnuts but mine were not. The sandwich was bigger than I expected. Large slices of bread. Very tasty. I took it home and added mayo, ketchup and hot sauce. My total with tip was just under $14. I'll most likely go again soon. read more

This was my first visit to SDC. I saw mixed reviews and I know they're a new establishment, so I was a bit trepidatious. But wow was I pleasantly surprised! I arrived just after noon today (a Thursday). The restaurant itself is clean and pleasantly minimalistic (no gawdy artworks or old license plates displayed on the wall). There was a young man behind the register who was possibly just training (he didn't have a lot to add and seemed a little perplexed by most of my questions, which I tried to keep to a minimum for his sake), but a very kind lady who happened to be behind the counter did step in to make suggestions (the spicy chicken donut sliders, which I did end up getting), and I chatted her up about the coffee, although I didn't order any today, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it comes from a local roaster that I love (Nuanz). So I ordered my sliders for dining in and 6 donuts to go. The donuts are definitely a little on the pricey side and small, but the selection was wonderful and they were all delicious and fresh when I got them home (although they did disappear rather quickly between my two sons). I sat in a nice, clean booth. There were a few other customers who came and went, nothing too crazy so I can't comment on how the noise level would be on a busy day. Plenty of seating, pleasantly clean restrooms, and a nice girl walking around to check on patrons and get them anything they might need. All in all, a very pleasant experience! I'd love to give it five stars because the food taste great, but the service.. I understand that it's hard to get anyone to work these days, so businesses are at the mercy of a generation with no work ethic. The first woman that took my order was great, but the kid that brought my order that was supposed to be "for here", brought in a tiny to go box that I couldn't eat out of if I wanted to. This with a $13.50 breakfast burrito that was tiny to start with. He dumped the bag and walked off before I could get "hey" off. Disappeared. I had to go back to the nice woman at the counter. Glad to see the increase in the donut size since their opening. Now, as I leave, I go to order donuts. Another young woman took my order. For goodness sake, you're trying to decide on donuts and within seconds of me looking, she starts tapping her long finger nails on the glass counter.
