While I unfortunately wasn't able to use Sandstone's services, I needed to write this review about…read morethe most recent experience I had with Alyssa Green with the Sandstone Behavioral Health Team. My husband experienced a psychiatric emergency two days ago. While we were in the ER, once everyone calmed down and we were able to speak with a crisis counselor with The Aspen Hope Center, we were discharged to go home and figure out what facility my husband would be able to receive residential treatment at. Sandstone was two of the five covered facilities that we could go to that would be covered through our insurance and that was recommended to us by the team at The Aspen Hope Center. Upon calling to get more info, I learned that the only facility that Sandstone had that offered the program my husband needed had an age cap of 35 and he is 36. Normally I would have expected that to have been the end of the road and that I had another few hours of phone calls ahead of me, but the woman I spoke with sent my information over to Alyssa and she's the reason why I'm writing this review. Alyssa called me not long after I hung up with the admissions team at Sandstone, and she immediately made me feel at ease. After everything I had just been through I was obviously flustered and my brain was very scattered, I didn't even know where to begin as far as who to call, where to look for reviews, what reviews to believe, etc. She then provided me in and out of network options for my husband to go to and after a few days of phone calls/questions I think we've decided on the best possible option for my husband to get the best care he can get. I'm so grateful to the team at Sandstone for providing this type of service for patients that don't qualify for their programs, and even more grateful to Alyssa for her kind compassionate care and help. I was expecting this experience to be an absolute nightmare, and while none of it is easy Alyssa made it feel manageable and helped me figure out where I should start. :o)

I am deeply disappointed and concerned by Sandstone Care's handling of a serious complaint…read moreinvolving current and former staff members. My son previously received residential treatment at Sandstone. Following his discharge, a former staff member became personally involved in his relationships and sent him inappropriate, hostile, and emotionally harmful messages. When I reported this behavior to Sandstone, I was informed that because the individual was no longer employed there, they were unable to take action. Unfortunately, the situation has continued. This former employee has been communicating with a current Sandstone employee, who reportedly directed the statement "fuck off and die" toward my son. I have shared this information with Sandstone and have also contacted law enforcement. If you currently have a child receiving treatment at Sandstone, I strongly encourage you to ask questions about the facility's policies regarding professional boundaries, staff relationships with patients after discharge, and accountability when those boundaries are crossed. Based on my experience, I have serious concerns about whether these boundaries are being appropriately maintained and enforced. Families entrust Sandstone with children who are often experiencing significant emotional and mental health challenges. The relationships formed between staff and patients carry a tremendous responsibility, and that responsibility should not simply disappear when a patient leaves treatment or an employee leaves the organization. What is most troubling is Sandstone's response. Rather than demonstrating a commitment to investigating these concerns and protecting former patients, the response I received focused on the fact that the original employee no longer works there. I am sharing this because parents deserve to understand these concerns before entrusting their children to a residential treatment facility. Professional boundaries, accountability, and patient safety should be fundamental expectations, not optional considerations.

My daughter who has suffered from having Bipolar 1 disorder has had a very tough life over the past…read more10 years. Over 40 hospital stays, attempted suicides, homelessness and multiple residency's. All of these places stated they are dual diagnosis, yet when she started working the programs they are probably more 90/10 addiction to mental health treatment. Most every one of them did not know how to treat mental illness and especially mania. When she was manic or it escalated, they would toss her out because they didn't know how to handle it. One even kicked her out after she told them she felt suicidal and felt she needed to be checked into a hospital. She begged to go back after her hospital stay, but they said she needed to go somewhere else. Then they proceeded to charge us $25,000 after not allowing her back in. That was the best thing that ever happened to her. Because after that she discovered The Raleigh House. They actually took our insurance which was a miracle in itself. From day one in the ranch in Watkins, she was accepted with empathy, understanding and true mental health help. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the program. They have equine therapy, physical fitness, healthy meals and a super caring staff. They truly focused and understood her needs of mental health treatment. This is so rare to find. She could have left whenever she wanted, but because of the program and they way she was treated with respect and caring she stayed for the whole 30 days. She then went on to do 30 days in their Denver PHP program. Again, I can't say enough great things about this staff of people at PHP. She is currently in their IOP program and will be starting a job next week. She hasn't been able to work for 3 years because of her bipolar 1 disorder. She is staying on her medication and is doing the right things. And she is happy! I cannot thank Raleigh House enough for being truly caring and being honest about treating mental illness. They are different than any other place my daughter has been to. And she has been to a lot! Just want to say thanks for saving my daughters life and bringing stability and happiness to mine. With all sincerity, Mike Giorgi

JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.
