Le is one of the best and most agreeable hairstylists I have encountered in the Silver Spring area. I am into retroyles, especially updos. Really appreciate the fact that I can arrive with a rough concept--maybe a picture, or just an idea--show it to her or describe it, and then trust her to come up with something even better than the original. I have been cutting my hair with Calvin for 17 years and I refuse to change barbers! Calvin memorizes every customers haircut, so they dont have to repeat it everytime they come in. In addition, when you ask Cal for a recommendation, he doesn't just suggest a style that is trend but a haircut that maximizes facial appearance per individual. Magicomb is a slowly deteriorating salon. The ONLY stylist takes personal and business calls while shampooing, trimming, and blow drying your hair. While this location offers typical salon extras like manicures, pedicures, and massages they are hardly enticing. The nail polish selection is covered with dust. The massage chairs for pedicures have used sofa cushions sitting on them. If you're low on cash and need a trim Magicomb's crumbling services would compell anyone to risk trimming their own hair at home. Don't bother. read more

This is a basic place for an excellent haircut!. There are typically two stylists on duty at any given time, and three on Fridays and Saturdays. Does the salon look dated...sure...small businesses are struggling these days with the weight of regulation, tax, and overhead. Is there anything unsafe or unsanitary about this salon...absoultely not. The stylists do an outstanding job and really aim to please. The earlier negative review of Magicomb really bothers me since it misses what is so great about this place. Everyone who works here, especially the owner Lee, is kind to everyone who comes in. It has been refurbished with all new furniture, floors etc. since 2012, but it's still nothing fancy, but the stylists are good and the prices are great, which is a lot more important to me than the decoration. read more
