Absolutely phenomenal! 90 min massage is amazing, you can upgrade to hot stones and other options for a very good value. Honestly at the price point you can do it all and feel very good about the spend. Super nice staff and very clean facility. Went in for a couples massage, it's our first time at this location and it's safe to say....we will be back...a lot! You pick pressure You pick how often they should check in on the pressure You pick oil if you need any pain relief You pick the time You pick add ons The masseuses are incredible nice and I feel incredible. My wife went home and straight into a nap she is so relaxed. Not enough nice things to say. Plenty of parking, even great restaurants close by so date night can be really incredible. Give it a shot, you will love it! read more

Have come here a couple of times! Very reasonable prices, easy parking and relaxed ambiance. The massage itself can be very hit or miss depending on the masseuse, and I do believe other spas in town have better masseuses, but when you take into account how affordable it is compared to other spots, still could be worth it. Have mostly had positive experiences here except for my most recent one that really didn't leave a great taste in my mouth - I came at the end of the day with an appointment. I showed up on time but they ran late and I waited 15-20 minutes to get started. Then my masseuse seemed upset that my massage was going to run late and seemed to rush through it. She also only gave me a 50 minute massage when I paid for an hour, and spent multiple chunks of time stepping out / talking to others out in the hall. Because of this most recent experience I am not sure if I will be coming back. They do offer couples massages as well. I recommend making an appointment in advance especially for peak times like weekends and Friday nights, since they can fill up. read more

Went here twice for a couples massage and both times were excellent. We get frequent massages but this place always leaves us feeling super relaxed. The front desk gal is kind and they give a short form to fill out before the massage where you can circle areas to focus on. The massage therapists are professional, kind, and give very good quality massages. They're not rough or hurry through them. We got the combination massage where we started with the 30 min foot soak reflexology and then moved to another room for a 60 min full body massage. I noted on the form I wanted a massage on my tummy so my therapist worked on that without being asked or reminded. The place is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. It's not a new bldg or have modern spa-like presence but the place and the sheets feel clean. The AC was not on but they had fans in the room. There is about a 10" gap between the walls to the ceiling so you can hear all the slappin', flappin', and clappin' but otherwise the noise level is fine. They also give a punch card where you get a free 60 mins massage after the 10th visit. Highly recommend! read more

Affordable prices. I came in planning to get the 45 min foot massage but the owner said that the 60 min full body massage is only $2 more, so why not! Apparently you can make appointment! I didnt know that. But I walked in and I was able to get the massage within 5 min. For the full body, you're ushered into a room with 2 beds and pretty quick, they got you a tub of hot water to soak your feet in. They would use half the time to massage your legs/feet, another half hour to massage the rest of the body and the whole time, you're fully clothed. It's not bad, even though the oil smelled kinda weird/bad. read more

I still really enjoy going to this massage place as they give really good massages but felt I needed to remove 1 star from my 5 star review for my most recent interactions. I booked an 8:15pm deep tissue couples massage over the phone and they accidentally gave our slot to another couple causing us to wait an extra 25 minutes. The owner (or front desk staff) offered us a cash discount along with some free extras like hot stone and aromatherapy. The hot stone was amazing and felt heavenly. I don't believe I actually got a cash discount however as she charged $70 per person and I am pretty sure the hour long deep tissue is already $70 per person. read more

Went here today and had a terrible massage. One mistake I can already see is that the massage therapist didn't ask for any intake or if I had any allergies, medical conditions, what is the preference for pressure etc. I choose chair and feet massage then add 1 hour massage on the massage table (no deep tissue I just pointed on the menu the regular massage) When he started to massage me on the chair I immediately told him the pressure is too much. The masseuse wouldn't listen to me. He was very rough and jerky. I did not ask for deep tissue on the menu and I was getting heavy pressure with his fingers digging in my skin hard I couldn't relax at all even on the massage table I was in pain the whole time. At the end of the massage he asked if I wanted hot stones and I said no. He then proceeded to use hot stones anyways. I then told him it was too hot and he said don't worry it will cool down. I also ended up getting a bruise on my arm. This is what it looks like right after the session. Most of the movements were basic compression, lots of forearms (Lomi Lomi), kneading, and acupressure points. There wasn't any Swedish style massage technique far as I can tell and we had language barrier. Maybe I was just unlucky with the massage therapist but I'm not coming back. I am currently reading other reviews and I certainly did not receive the same treatment as others have. My foot never got soaked. I specifically asked for 30min chair and 30min feet massage combo then 1 hour massage on the table after. Never at any point asked for hot stones or deep tissue. read more

I had a great experience at Magical Massage Spa with Cici! I got the 60-minute massage and 30-minute foot massage combo, and she was incredible. I asked her to focus on my back, under my shoulder blades, and my IT bands, and she did exactly that while adjusting the pressure wherever I needed it. She beat me up in the best way! It definitely hurt, but I walked out feeling like a noodle. If you're looking for a massage that really gets the knots out, I highly recommend this place! Also tons of parking read more

This is my go-to massage spa now for the last few years! I've been as often as once a month for a 1 hour full body massage. The lady at the front desk is ALWAYS so friendly and accommodating. I usually ask for a lady masseuse and she will make arrangements to make that happen and I appreciate it. I've had different masseuses there and they all understand the pressure I need and what parts of my body needs focus. It was $55 for the longest time but now it's up to $60 which still isn't bad. They upgraded to heated beds which felt nice. Music is nice, relaxing and good volume. Clean as well. read more

Magical Massage Spa - Pricing as of Sept 2023 - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Diego, California

I came here late on a Saturday evening (8pm). I was overdue for a massage. I called and was able to walk in. They immediately took me back. I had a full body massage (60 min). The gentleman used a lot of his forearms and elbows to get my knots out. I'm not a fan of having lots of elbows to work out my knots but it worked! He would check in with me throughout the massage if I wanted medium or harder pressure. I normally would do hard but I opted for medium this time. It was the best I felt in weeks. The price is great (allows me to tip more). There's plenty of parking too. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! This was our first time here and highly recommend coming here if you're looking for one of the best massages of your life -- and for the price, it's absolutely worth it! The customer service is great. I went in with a stiff neck and asked my masseuse to focus on my neck and shoulders since that's where I carry most of my tension. He was careful but thorough, and spent extra time working those areas. It was incredible! I felt 100x better after this massage. One thing that stood out from any other massage I've had: they have a heated blanket on the bed! So when you're lying on your back, your back is warm, and when you flip over face down, your stomach is warm! It was amazinggg! They even included hot stones, which I wasn't expecting, but was such a great surprise. I just wish we lived closer. This is def our new self care spot! read more

I've been going here on and off for a while. I usually try calling head to make sure they can take me. Yesterday, I must have found some wrong number off the internet because I tried calling twice but no one ever answered. I decided to do a walk in as I was in the area and although they were busy, they were very accommodating and were able to take me right away. Sam was amazing and the pressure was perfect. I know it's a good massage when I walk out confused as to where I am or how to get back to my car lol. read more

Very relaxing massage. Reasonable prices. Appreciate that they offer combo with full body and foot massage. My massage therapist was male, which is fine, but do wish there was some heads-up for mental preparation. I usually do prefer males since they have a bit more power. Nonetheless, content with my massage! Fyi- $2 charge with CC. As for tipping, the lowest option choice was 30%, which I thought was fine considering the low price of the massage itself. But pay with cash, if you want to save a little bit of money. Overall, happy customer! I plan to come back. :) read more

Came in for a 60-minute foot massage ($42) and left with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the pricing is very reasonable for a full hour, and the spa itself was fairly clean and comfortable. The room was quiet enough, dimly lit, and the chairs were decent for relaxation. The massage itself was just okay. Some parts were relaxing and hit the right spots, but other sections felt rushed and uneven.Sometimes too much pressure, other times barely any. It didn't feel consistent throughout the full hour. I was hoping for a more soothing and balanced flow. For the price, it's a convenient option if you just want a quick and affordable foot massage, but if you're looking for something more thorough, consistent, and spa-like, there are better options in San Diego. read more

I come to Magical Massage Spa once a month with friends for a full-body massage, and it's always a great experience. For $55 for 60 minutes, it's an amazing value. Be sure to tip your masseuse well, they really do a fantastic job! The massage covers everything, back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, feet, head, and face. The masseuses always check if the pressure is right, and you can ask them to adjust it. One of my favorite parts is the hot stone massage, which feels incredible. The relaxing music in the background adds to the experience. You do have to remove your shirt, pants, and bra (for ladies), but you keep your underwear on. The only downside is that you can hear some noise from the lobby and other rooms, but you'll probably be too relaxed to care. They also give you a cup of water afterward, which is a nice touch. One thing to note, credit cards have an extra charge, so cash is preferred. Also, you can get a stamp card and redeem a free massage after 10 visits, which is such a great perk! I love coming here. read more

I have been a fairly regular customer here at Magical Massage Spa for several years. They are not a fancy spa massage place, but they offer exactly what I am looking for, the more traditional Chinese style massage. I like their foot massages, which includes ~30 mins of foot massages and 20-25 mins of shoulder/back, face/head, hand/arms, and legs massages. For their foot massages, you don't need to change clothes. Some areas will be dry pressured massage or some areas using lotion to apply the pressure. Through the many years being a customer here, I have to say their quality of massage has been consistently excellent. This is very difficult to do as massage therapists may come and go, but the quality of massage is always very good regardless of which massage therapists are available. The place is clean, the front desk is courteous, and the best part is a very reasonable price for the quality massage. We always tip the massage therapists extra before the price is so low. After visiting them for years, now the secret is out! They are getting popular and the weekends are getting busy. You can call in advance to see when they are available. We now always call, so we don't need to wait for a spot. I am so happy that many people come to enjoy their massage! read more

Easy to book an appointment - I was able to schedule a couple's massage for the next day. We were greeted right away and taken back even before our appointment time. The room is clean and quiet. We weren't asked if we preferred a male or female masseuse but luckily, we have no preference. I had no complaints with my massage. The male masseuse I had worked out a knot in my back that I hadn't even mentioned. We were offered water afterwards, which was nice. Great value and we'll definitely be back! read more

I called a day ahead to book an appointment for me and my friend for a 1 hour massage. Upon arrival, we were greeted and asked which service we wanted. We both went with the combo: 30 Mins Dry (body, no oil used) + 30 Mins Foot. The total price for the both of us was $102. We both left feeling soo relaxed. Lately, I have been feeling super tense and stiff around my neck and shoulders; but that evening, my neck and shoulders were relieved from muscle tension. I didn't realize how much I needed that massage! The only thing I would do differently is probably only get a body massage next time (the feet thing wasn't for me). Peter was my friend's masseuse; and Cindy was mine. Both were nice and pleasant. I like how they had a room just for the 2 of us. Pricing is very reasonable, especially with it being inflation these days. We're now starting a new routine: getting massages as a monthly (or quarterly) stress relief. And this is the place for it. read more

This is an inexpensive neighborhood place which has pros and cons. Pros: * They can typically accommodate walk ins or appointments that you call and ask for on the spot. * They take card * The masseurs use firm pressure when massaging you. * The pricing is very inexpensive. Cons: * You will be upsold * Card has $1 surcharge per service * Types of massages offered are misleading. Are you booking a "foot massage"? Guess what? They're going to also massage your face and shoulders and arms and back etc. Some may find this enjoyable but logically you book the type of massage you want. * The employees work while sick. Nothing like getting a massage from someone who is coughing and sneezing the whole time. * If you don't ask for a private room you might be paired with other patrons. Today I was paired with a woman and her toddler who was on the phone the whole time, not super relaxing. So this place is great if you want a decent massage at a great price, but keep in mind what you're walking into when you come here. read more

Favorite local spot! It's a little more no-frills, but it still has a nice atmosphere. The prices truly can't be beat. I always leave happy and feeling a lot looser than when I came in. On my actual birthday, I had to take my wife to work and would receive my birthday gift when I picked her up at the end of her shift. She had left a birthday card for me to open at home, which would reveal what her gift was. Before I opened her card, I tried guessing what my gift was by asking her in the morning before work if I needed to bring our kids with me when I picked her up. She said, "No," so that eliminated my thought of our family catching a Padres game for my birthday. When I finally opened my card, I was happy to find out that my wife and I were getting a couples massage. This was my first time at Magical Massage Spa and I really enjoyed getting a massage from here. Magical Massage is located in the Balboa Ave./Clairemont Mesa area specifically within the Balboa Crest shopping center. IHOP is found in the same center, Crest Balboa Liquor, The Noble Chef, Tropical Star, and Mystic Grill & Bakery are steps away. AM/PM is across the street and it's not too far from 99 Ranch Market. As you enter Magical Massage, there is a comfortable looking and welcoming waiting area. There are Asian knick knacks used as decor throughout the waiting area. The price list is prominently hung on the wall and I thought the prices were reasonable. We were greeted by a friendly lady manning the check-in desk. When we checked in, the nice lady asked if it was okay if a dude massaged me. Since it was my birthday, I insisted on a lady and she was able to accommodate my request. As soon as you enter Magical Massage, the music puts you into a mood of relaxation. We opted for the $55 60-minute full body massage. I don't know how that price compares to other massage places, but I thought that price was reasonable for the massage I received. For our couples massage, the wifey and I were side by side on a comfortable table where you start off face down. My masseuse was named Cee Cee and she was firm and gentle at the same time as she massaged my entire body. I thought she did an amazing job making my body relaxed and eradicating kinks in my shoulders and back. Part of the massage included her placing hot rocks on my back and I thought that was a unique aspect of my massage. What was my favorite part of the entire massage were the lotions placed on my body specifically the nice aroma from the lotion placed on my face. Although I wasn't gifted the Padres tickets I thought my family and I would be attending, the couples massage I got instead was a great gift. I had a wonderful first time experience at Magical Massage Spa and would definitely visit again. read more

Came on a weekday morning. Looked up this place on Yelp as I was here for a conference and no I did not make an appointment. Yes, it's in an unassuming area, strip-mall but don't let that fool you. I recently came in for a massage and unfortunately didn't have the most comfortable experience. My massage therapist was male, and while nothing explicitly inappropriate happened, I felt uneasy throughout the session. I was placed in some awkward positions that didn't seem necessary, and there was more contact with my glutes than I was expecting or comfortable with -- especially given that there wasn't much actual muscle work happening elsewhere. The pressure overall was very light and didn't feel therapeutic or targeted, which was disappointing considering I came in hoping to relieve muscle tension. I really wanted to relax, but instead I spent most of the session feeling tense and unsure of what was going on. I don't want to assume bad intent, but I do think there needs to be better communication, professionalism, and technique. Just wanted to share this in case it helps others choose the right fit for their comfort level. read more
