What an absolute joke of a company. Please read the screenshots attached. The owner kept making…read moreexcuses about why he couldn't keep promises or plans, couldn't get the color correct although he stated "I wrote everything down" When I confronted him about not being happy he threatened me called me a "little boy" and he "wished he'd seen me outside" I spoke to the supplier, who stated he's done this more than once. I made a police report regarding his verbal threats to me and my mother. He continued saying "hang up the phone I'll kick your ass right now" when I hung up, he verbally continued to threaten physical harm but refused to speak or actually approach, idle threats. He's an absolute joke, nothing but a salesman with a bad attitude, every serious question we had was followed up with "I'm the best" "I've been in business for 20+ years" and a ridiculous display of photos from a book that weren't even close to what we were discussing. It was a hand selected proof of narcissistic display of his ego. James lost two jobs mine and my parents house and his exact words were "you think I give a fuck about these two" A clear indication of how he feels about "customers" If you read the plenty of one star reviews on both Google and Yelp, they have a consistent pattern of excuses, unkept promises and a poor attitude. If you check out all of my reviews you'll notice that when a business does right I'm quick to compliment and praise. My messages to the owner (James) and my patter of praise when deserved will solidify that I do not write reviews to hurt genuine businesses as James said I would do while threatening to physical assault me. My evidentiary proof and pattern of honest reviews will speak for themselves. I have never ever called the police on a business owners actions. This is certainly a first and should scream red flags to anyone considering work with James.

I had a very unusual experience with Basic Landscaping. I hired them to plant trees and shrubs on…read moremy property and signed a contract for $53K. When they were done, they charged me additional $2300 for planting extra plants, which was never discussed with me before it was allegedly done. Nevertheless, I paid additional money without saying anything. At the end Basic asked me if I wanted to sign a maintenance contract. I declined because it was very expensive considering the amount of work being proposed, required inclusion of lawn maintenance (I do that myself), and also had language regarding dumping yard waste on my property. The biggest issue I had with Basic was that they planted the wrong trees and refused to replace them. The centerpiece of my landscape design were three trees with bright yellow and red leaves. Basic planted a green leaf variety of the same tree, completely ruining my landscape design intent. When I complained about this, during the warranty period, Basic initially tried blaming me since I did not sign a maintenance contract, probably assuming I was too ignorant to figure out what happened. When that argument did not fly, they tried blaming the plant material supplier, which again had nothing to do with a $53K planting contract I had with Basic. Finaly, after many months of stalling, they said that I complained too late. I understand that sometimes mistakes happen, however I found it unusual that a contractor who made a mistake would aggressively attack me, in writing, and refuse to do anything to correct a problem. Additional to the problems described above, another Basic proposal, to address the lawn flooding issue, had a ridiculous solution - move the water from one end of the lawn to another, and the proposed price was incredibly high considering it involved two guys with shovels for a day.
