New hours

I came by at noon on a Friday with my three year old to find that their hours were different than posted on their web site. Wasted trip, and wasted money on parking. Very disappointing.

Would be five stars, but it aint all that. Lol Still, beggars can't be choosers and indoor playgrounds in D.C. are scarce; Magic ground gets a star for actually being available. Overall, its very convenient for parent and child. While they run around, I'm upstairs working on my laptop or catching up on Yelp reviews. No food or drinks are allowed in, but you can sneak whatever in your bag and eat it upstairs Lol. They don't offer the drop-off option anymore, which sucks because I'd normally do a drop-off and head to target, Giant, or bed bath and beyond. If two adults come though, at least one person can shop or you can do the all day unlimited pass. Which means you can play, leave to shop, come back, leave to eat etc. My son who is now 5 hasn't complained yet and honestly I appreciate the WiFi, plugs, and tables. Unlike Chuck E. Cheese and D&b, the little children can run around without stress/fear of losing them or big kid interactions.

This company is the hardest company to get ahold of that I have ever encountered. While trying to plan a child's birthday party over the course of one week I reached out via email, called the listed number during business hours, called an alternate number listed on their Facebook page in a commented response to another disgruntled customer, wrote on their Facebook wall myself, and messaged them on Facebook. A week later, I have receive no response. It's a little ridiculous that it should be so hard to become a customer. The final straw was seeing that my Facebook message had been seen days ago and ignored.

Like any play place it has pros and cons. Pros: *OPEN UNTIL 8:00PM!! *You can sit and relax and just let your kid run around-big enough to keep your kid busy enough for an hour or two *age range from 0-6: separate rooms for 0-3 so they aren't getting stuck on the bigger play areas, parents can keep a closer eye on them and older kids can't run into or hurt them. My 4 year old didn't get bored the whole 2 hours we were there, whether it was playing alone or with other children. *coloring area, play gym with slides, ball pit, care center for those who need childcare, rock climbing walls, media room to play computer/video games *cleanliness a 8/10 - downstairs is great, and everyone wears socks! *party room upstairs *concessions upstairs with separate seating that's not in the middle of everything *upstairs "mezzanine" is great so you can check on kids that climb up to the top *kids can't escape as there are gates *no one can enter unless has a child and paid, not even those who are picking up their child. The child is brought out to the front desk for pick up. *bathrooms, water fountain, hand washing station, cubbies for shoes, sells socks! *in a mall on the 3rd floor so felt infinitely safer away from the rest of it *cheap entry- $15 for unlimited all day play *soft ground around the climbing areas, even walls-everything is soft except slides in the play areas. Regular in coloring and media rooms. *bathrooms are recently renovated and impeccably clean Cons: *front desk lady a bit difficult to understand and sullen at first, HOWEVER, she is working at a gross kid's place with bratty kids and most likely minimum wage. I'd definitely be grumpy too. She was nicer when she was interacting with my son though when she was doing evening duties. *8/10 cleanliness, -2 for sticky floor upstairs where the concessions are and just general germ deduction for every kid place *a bit small-but it is in a mall *not much seating for adults downstairs where the kids play *no food or drinks allowed (water bottles are though) *we went on a Monday evening in July around 5:00 and there was hardly anyone there-maybe 5 families and 10 kids. I can imagine it getting too crowded quickly though

Not so sure about the authenticity of the previous reviews, but my kids had a blast! Be wary of the reviews where the author only has one review...that happens to be a bad one. 1) the place smells fine (not sure where the weed comment came from, probably from the reviewers own clothes), 2) the place is new, not sure where the comment came from that the place was beat up. My kids just loved the energy of all the friends playing around. They loved the fact that they could slide, climb, play tag, all while staying out of the elements. This day, I had originally planned to go to the park, but because of the rain, decided to give this place a try. I loved that this place was next to Target. I could do one of two things: 1) drop of the kids and shop, or 2) stay with them, let them burn themselves out, then go to Target afterwards, all while staying in the same building! I also love the fact that there are many options for meals near Magic Ground. While Magic Ground does serve food, and at a reasonable price, you can just go to the ground floor and explore the other great options nearby. In fact, there is a donut shop somewhere in the building! I will definitely return, especially on a rainy, or snowy, day!

We've been to this place couple of times. My reviews goes to the receptionist. They are very busy on the phone and not even paying attention when the gate is open. No one bothers to go and make sure that the gate is closed so the little ones one don't run away. I had to close this gate couple of time while I was there. One of the receptionist is not friendly at all doesn't even say hi to you just wants you to sign in the iPad and paid. Because I have a one year old girl I have to go with her all the way up and I noticed like a month ago that the bridge upstairs isn't really safe. One of the chains is broken and is not holding the bridge. They have to give a look to this indoor playground because they have a lot of things to fix.

Toddling around in the "baby section". Filled with age appropriate toys and mirrors.

I have the sinking feeling I'll be spending a lot of time here being subjected to their terrible music playlists (90's pop and Aerosmith) and uncomfortably bright incandescent lights. Seriously, I might bring head phones and enjoy their free WiFi in peace. This is the type of place that I wouldn't go out of my way for, because DC has so many other (and free) playspaces. But it's close to where I live and my daughter really enjoys their play-spaces. I've been here during the week and on weekends and I would not come again during peak hours, it was total chaos and very overwhelming for the wee one. The staff were very helpful and I would trust them for baby-sitting if it were slow. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinking the membership here is way pricey.

The too fast slide..

Need a place for your kids to burn off some energy when it's too hot, too cold, or too wet outside? This is a decent place to spend an hour.

As a new parent, leaving my child at daycare made me very nervous. But the staff has my full trust and their stellar communication has given me great confidence. I see my child being social and exploring at such a great pace. I really think it takes a village to raise a child and I consider Primrose a part of ours. We are very grateful.

I usually do not provide online reviews for anything, but since it is something that involves our…read morechildren, I've decided to write this post. HPS is a lovely school and our son was happy there. Unfortunately, the school ended up leaving us with a very bad impression. We initially enrolled him two days per week, half time. When we enrolled, they told us that if he was happy, we could move from two to three days and eventually to full time three or five days. One month in, when we saw how happy he was, we moved him from two days half time to three days half time. It went great. One month later, we wanted to move him full time three days a week. Then the problems began. The school manager gave us conflicting and sometimes false excuses for refusing our request. Finally, after we insisted about half a dozen times she summoned us to her office. In essence, she said that if we wanted to have our son spend more time in the school we would need to hire an occupational therapist to spend all day with him at school. Our son has a speech delay (started speaking at three) and he does not follow instructions or adjust to routines as easily as fully verbal three year olds. HPS ended up using the challenges associated with his spech delay to demand that we basically hire another teacher exclusively for our son. We found this request innapropriate. I have doubts as to whether it is even legal. All told, they simply did not want our son there and were unwilling to work with us to navigate his speech delay and related challenges. This is all very sad to us. We have now enrolled him at another school, five days a week, full time. Many people are very happy at HPS and they may never encounter any similar issues. I just want to leave this review out there for parents to carefully consider HPS before enrolling, especially if you are thinking of increasing throughout the year the number of days your child is there or if your child has a speech delay or any other developmental delay.

The teachers and administrators are all loving, attentive, and passionate about the care and education of young children. This passion is apparent with the significant high level of engagement every single day. The Hill Preschool is a positive and enriching environment for children, and my child is healthy and happy every single day, gaining confidence and knowledge that has set a foundation for the rest of his life. The teachers are selfless, kind, and dedicated. The facility is clean and full of enriching activities. The teachers are also great at communicating with parents daily both in person and online with a portal that outlines the activities for the week and pictures so you can keep up with what your little ones are doing. Not only do I feel comfort in knowing my child is cared for and safe, I also know my child is receiving a holistic approach to early childhood education. The children have routine and stay active, and the teachers build a curriculum for the children where they learn about their community, art, science, architecture, biology, music, and more. The teachers take the children on several field trips that coincide with their curriculum visiting the Botanic Gardens, the Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art, and local businesses to enhance what they are learning every day. I could not recommend the Hill Preschool enough, and I only wish I had found it sooner.

My family was visiting DC for a convention, and I called SEVERAL companies as we needed someone to come to our hotel room to watch out son. And all of them had hidden fees, etc. However, once I found FMOTG, it was easy and straight forward with extremely fair/competitive pricing. I didn't have to pay an agency and then pay the nanny. Ms. Kiesha ubered to the hotel (so we didn't have to worry about paying for her parking). She arrived early, and as soon as I met her, I felt as though I have known her forever. She asked us several questions about our son, his needs and schedule, while immediately tending to him. I was able to witness her singing to him, reading to him, teaching him, and loving him. He was so happy to be with her. My husband and I felt so comfortable leaving our son with her. Throughout the night, she sent us several updates and pictures. We didn't even have to ask for those - which is comforting. Once we got back, she actually wrote out a full update/report about our son's night and when his last diaper change and bottle were. If Kiesha lived in my city, I would want to work with her EVERYDAY!! (And she does travel, so we will consider that in the future for family vacations). I'm so thankful for people like Ms. Kiesha and FMOTG. They help making parenting (especially working parents) a bit easier. I can't wait to get back to DC and call her up again!!
