It would be an understatement that my project was complicated and intimidating. Sitting on a 50 + foot high cliff, I had a retaining wall separating from my backyard in desperate need of replacement. Limited access to the property and backyard further complicated the scope and ease of executing this project. My wife and I solicited several inquiries from different contractors, and were only made more aware of the complications and challenges ahead based upon the lack of willingness many demonstrated in taking on this project for us. Finding a contractor willing to navigate the challenges of the property while executing within a realistic timeline and within an affordable price seemed impossible. That was until we spoke with Maggio. Artie was confident from day one that he and his team would be able to create an attainable resolution. Artie and his team came up with several approaches we could take on executing the retaining wall replacement, provided us a reasonable price, and then met every benchmark set during our project planning and execution. While on site, Maggio's team was efficient and effective proceeding with care and safety but working at a pace that exceeded our expectations. The completed work is gorgeous and far exceeded our expectations for what our backyard would look like. It's already been such a tremendous relief to have our backyard secured, rebuilt, and drained correctly to avoid erosion damage like we experienced with the previous retaining wall. Through the entire process, we felt like Maggio was working with us to succeed on this project and continually exceeded our expectations. I have no doubt now that not only was Maggio the right team for this project, but the right team for any future landscaping/hardscaping projects that remain for my property in the future. In this post pandemic world it truly is refreshing to find a company that can deliver what they promise... at a fair price...and with a very good attitude. We contracted with Maggio and Sons to have a Stamped Concrete Sidewalk to replace our patio paver sidewalk and an Asphalt Driveway installed over our 50yr old Gravel Driveway. Well, they just completed the project and left after being here one day last week and two days this week. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with Maggio and Sons. They showed up exactly when they said they would with a crew that were both friendly and professional. Other then the fact that we clearly have a new sidewalk and driveway, they didn't leave a speck of garbage or anything else out of place that would have indicated that they were even here. I was really impressed when I caught a glimpse of them using a level while laying the asphalt to insure that the driveway had proper pitch. The stamped concrete sidewalk came out better than we could have imagined and Our New Blacktop really spruces the place up too. We highly recommend Maggio and Sons based on the Lead in, execution and clean up after the job. A company making this much effort to do everything right.... in my opinion deserves a write up such as this. read more

They had plowed our driveway earlier this year and there were no issues. They did a great a great job. I called today and the woman said they could handle it if needed. Just Give a call. We called and they said they would'nd plow it "because it was in such disrepair" We had it completely fixed 2 years ago. When I called back he said " Why didn't you have me do it? If you call me again I'm going to let it go to the answering machine. don't ever f******g call me again" Wow! such hate for no reason. read more

DO NOT even THINK about calling these inept characters to do any work on your property! My septic system suddenly went, and in a pinch, I very reluctantly contacted local Maggio & Sons as a last resort, since word-of-mouth around here has it that these guys are unscrupulous and dishonest. Oh, how I should have listened! Staying with a broken septic system would have been more pleasant than the nightmare I endured dealing with these double-talking shysters! First, the big guy showed up all cheerful BEFORE the job was done, assuring me that after the septic tank was replaced, my lawn would be leveled out and re-seeded, and would appear as though nothing was ever done to it. What a blatant lie! Not only did they leave my entire lawn all torn-up and looking like a mudslide (see the pics), but weeks of pleading with Mr. Maggio and his sons to please come and fix the mess they made only resulted in false reassurances and lame excuses. Today, weeks later, they STILL have not bothered to come and repair it (hey, why should they - they already got paid in full, so "take the money and run!"). My final call to Mr. Maggio today resulted in him shouting at me and belittling me to the point where I informed him that I'll now be taking this to the next level, whereas he slammed the phone down on me. Very professional! I've yet to see how the septic tank itself holds up, knowing how poorly this unprofessional loudmouth performs, but I certainly will NEVER contact these clowns to do anything for me ever again, and nor should you. read more

This company has been doing a lot of advertising (tv and print) recently and offering a $30 discount on a full septic tank cleanout, which is recommended be done every three years. Mine had not been pumped in nearly 15 years, so I gave Maggio & Sons a call. I was amazed that they offered to fit my house in their schedule for the very next day. The only requirement was that I have my tank top open and ready for them when they arrived. (So....you must locate and dig to expose your septic tank cover on your own -- usually not difficult). They arrived with their truck right on time the next day, navigated their huge truck backwards up my narrow drive expertly and had the pump pumping into the truck in just a few minutes. The whole pumpout process took only 15-20 minutes, and they were gone. Very courteous, efficient service. I recommend Maggio and Sons for septic service unhesitatingly. I recently called Maggio and sons and was asking the secretary who was a pleasure about pricing and was transferred to Mr Maggio the owner. This is where the call took a turn for the worse. As I was asking about what I would need, I was told that I was stupid and did not know basic math. After simply inquiring I was made to feel stupid. I could not believe the level of disrespect that I received from the owner himself. I can tell you now that I will be taking my business elsewhere in the area. I would seriously question their positive reviews as I cannot believe that a company with such poor customer service coming from the owner himself could possibly do a good job. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Artie, and Peter Maggio (and crew) for the outstanding workmanship that they have just recently done at my residence. I had recently contacted a family friend of mine about some stone work and a possible sidewalk. Well when he got there, he said to big for me! But in turn he told me to contact Maggio and Sons advising me that he actually works with them on occasions and could vouch for their work. Well I'm not the trusting kind, so I did my research. Well after researching I was impressed and a phone call was made. From Maureen in the office to the day Artie arrived for estimates everything went smooth. At first all I wanted was some drainage, stairs and a sidewalk. He was there for AN HOUR, explaining everything in detail, and how it would work, and so on and so on. But then the wife and I started thinking and we decided to go ahead and pave our driveway. Now understand I live about 45 or so minutes from where they are based out of. In a few days Artie was back at my house again for another hour and again explained it all in detail. I don't have your typical driveway (straight, flat and 20' long) It's long, wide, dips, downhill, uphill, needed a trench drain, and precise pitching (to divert water from the house) so on and so forth. Well guess what, the day they finished with the paving, torrential downpours. Where did the water go? Everywhere Artie said it would go. Now my biggest concern I'm a neat freak. Between the skid steer, the excavator, the tri-axle dump trucks and every other piece of equipment they had there my poor item#4 road looked like a disaster. The morning they were at my house doing the finishing touches on everything it was right back to where it was. As I arrived the skid steer was back dragging and smoothing the road out, it was if they were never there.
