Lovely thrift/ vintage store with many treasures. What drew me in was the massive collection of books- some old and some new. The antique books were lovely but very pricey. I know they are antique but I have found many comparable items online and at other stores for a lot less. None of the prices were marked and so I inquired on the cost of four books that I had spent some time choosing. The cost was $100 for the four which I decided to just splurge on one. As for the rest of the store, there is so much to find including musical instruments, old typewriters, fine china, jewelry, art, furniture and tons more. I think overall a wonderful store. The one thing I would improve would be to mark the prices for the books.

Interesting store, lots of jewelry and tons of things to look at! Also many, many books in one huge section.

I love supporting small businesses so it pains me to write a negative review. I was shopping in…read morePort St. Lucie for the day when I stumbled upon The Book Exchange. It is very uninviting from the outside because you can't see inside the windows. I almost skipped going in but after looking at some photos online I was curious and decided to check it out anyway despite my negative first impression. The aisles are filled floor to ceiling with books arranged by categories. After looking around for a few minutes I wanted to ask about prices so I went to the counter where an older lady with bleached blond hair was working. I inquired about how much the books cost but she gave a vague answer that they are different prices. I tried to dig deeper to find out how I would know what they cost. Where they marked or did I just have to bring up the book I was interested in to find out? Before I finished she cut me off with a rude "I don't have time to price all of these books!" I felt like I was asking a fairly simple question but she made it clear that I was irritating her so I left. My encounter here was very strange because typically everyone I meet in Port St. Lucie are delightful. It was one of the reasons I came her to shop on my day off. I was hoping to grab a few books but I know a lot of other friendlier and more welcoming places to spend my money.

While visiting Port St. Lucie I sought recommendations of local bookstores. Someone on Reddit…read moresuggested Book Exchange because it's near the vinyl record store Sounds Good Music and the collectibles toy store Lily's and Johnny Collectibles, making that area worth a 10-minute detour off Interstate 95. This bookstore is pretty typical of smaller stores but has a nice selection of science fiction and fantasy including some old British paperbacks of sword and sorcery and several Chris Bunch novels I wished later that I had bought. A lot of paperbacks showed wear on the spines, as if they'd been read and returned a few times, which is cool. The clerk was friendly. The prices were a little higher than I expected on some used books but not enough to deter me from making a purchase.

It seems like the aisles kept going, and there was a huge back room full of more aisles of books, And they have a nice section of comic books also which was cool. I thought the section for comic books wasn't as large as I was hoping, but still cool, and I had plenty to go through. Also there is a case with some rare ones also. The staff was really friendly and helpful. My husband found a really cool Star Wars item there he was happy. They also have a small selection of collectible toys. Went walking around more and they have children's book section with vintage books, I had when I was a kid definitely had to take one home. The prices are very good here and reasonable. If you're a book lover, this is definitely a good place for you. You will be pleasantly surprised. If I were in the area of North Palm Beach I will definitely stop in again.

If books and reading are your passion this store is a treasure trove. Book Exchange and Comic shop…read moreis a maze of shelves of books labeled and arranged by topics like history, children, mystery, paranormal, non fiction, biographies, art, romance, reference books, and my favorite genre, true crime with a label that looked like it was written in blood. Some of the books looked old and rare. I recognized Hardy Boy books back from my mothers childhood stash. There is also an entire room filled with collectibles and comics. I didn't need any help but the friendly gentleman running the store that day was at the ready to answer questions. Hard and soft cover books are half off whatever they are priced at on the inside cover. They had a great election of Agatha Christie mysteries which are always a favorite. In a time when so many independent book stores have gone under it was a pure delight to discover Book Exchange and Comic Shop. The intoxicating smell of the store is familiar to anyone who loves books. You can order books online but there is something so satisfying about going into a bookstore and holding the books in your hands as you make your decision. Visiting this store is a great way to save money as you add to TBR pile.
