She understood my first timer concerns and did a mock up of the types of clothes she thought I would like, and when I reluctantly told her it wasn't quite my style, she re-did it willingly - and this time she was spot on. The closet clean out felt so cleansing (she color coordinated everything) and 2 hour shopping session was super efficient, effortless, and of course fun! I like that she procures quality pieces secondhand, as it aligns with my personal philosophy (have not found any others that do this.) She took my feedback on designers but then introduced new ones. I use the personalized lookbook several times a week, and when I don't think something looks quite right she is a text away with her opinion and suggestions. As for her pricing, I looked at it as an investment in myself that is balanced out by the fact that I'm not paying retail for the clothes. Coupled with the fact that she has still been available after my shopping session I would say it has been well worth the value.

Katie will help you find great clothes, but what she really will give you is CONFIDENCE.... the kind of confidence where everything else in your life (money, relationships, career, etc) starts improving because you FEEL like a boss. I was first referred to Katie from a friend. My friend and I decided to both work with Katie to help us boost our self-esteem & get ready for the next chapter of our lives. Since then, I've hired Katie 4 times... that's how much I love working with her. The first 2 times were to redesign my wardrobe. I travel a lot and I only wanted clothes I LOVED in my suitcase. The outfits she put together were so good that I ended up doing photo shoots in them lol. Katie gave me vocabulary to explain my personal style and now that I'm clear on it, I get non-stop compliments on how I look. The 3rd time was to help my boyfriend (a musician and high school teacher) redesign his look. Working with Katie has impacted him so profoundly. I see him making bold moves at work that he was fearful of before... all because he feels more confident. I just emailed Katie again to ask her to help me for a 4th time. I'm speaking at a conference next week, so I'll be working with her again to find my stage outfit! Anyway, if you're on the fence about working with Katie, jump over the fence immediately. But when it comes to vintage shopping and finding good deals sometimes I need some help and I didn't realize just how much help I needed until I met the oh so fashionable Tristin M (http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=VwNovCZaYKaiKIMiUcFl4A). When I first met Tristin a few weeks ago I found myself admiring her adorable vintage dress and cool accessories...where could I find an outfit like that? And before I knew it Tristin was in my closet and joining me on shopping trips. Tristin is a wardrobe stylist (I believe that's the proper term for it) and based on her AMAZING sense of style she couldn't have a job more perfect for her! I believe her prices vary with what you hire for, but it seems to be about $60 an hour...and boy is she worth it! Tristin started off in my closet last week helping me organize a bit...I was ready to donate the old stuff I don't wear anymore, but half of the stuff I was about to put into the trash bag Tristin would pair it with a cute tunic in my closet or something else that I would never dream of and all of a sudden I had all these new outfits! She even pulled out the scissors and started cutting shirts (with my approval of course) to turn them into something cool and trendy again. I love this girl! After deciding what I needed for fall (actually I really don't need anything...more like WANT for fall) Tristin and I made our way to a bunch of thrift shops on Milwaukee. I typically stay away from thrift stores because I don't even know where to start, but that's just because I've never had Tristin at my side. She found the cutest things on those racks and at the BEST prices...seriously, I brought home a marc jacobs jacket for $40! I had given Tristin a budget ahead of time and she really did a great job of staying within it...I was about to grab a cute camisole for $50 at one of our non thrift store shops, Free People, but she quickly reminded me that I didn't need it and we could find a comparable camisole for much less...and here I was thinking it was a great deal! Who knew that paying a wardrobe stylist would actually save money??? I walked away with some great clothes today for my fall wardrobe and can't wait to go shopping with Tristin again! Tristin's web site is currently in the works, but if you want some wardrobe tips of your own email her here: christine@tristinstyling.com

I called all the local Gucci boutiques here in Southern California, but the sales associate won't divulge any information. I was getting frustrated because I know shoppers from the east coast are able to get their orders in. I contacted Christine asking if she knows whether her local Gucci has started the sale. Christine responded quickly telling me that she will find out. Note that this was after 9pm pacific, so it was really late for her, but she responded anyways! The next day, she texted me confirming that the sale has started, so I sent her pics of items I want. Christine did not waste any time, she went to the store and got the items I was dying to get! Thank you so much for getting the items that I wanted! If you are looking for a remote personal shopper - Christine is your gal! She is fast, efficient, and communicates effectively! I have nothing but praises for the quality of service she provided. 5 stars!!!

Diane had us come into her booth (the shop is a smaller space inside a larger antique mall) and and briefly remove our masks for the camera (this is a jewelry shop, after all). In COVID times, precautions were in place, followed & reasonable (Masks, plastic screens at counter). Diane was very polite, professional & helpful. We did go to a few other jewelry stores in the western suburbs, all pretty standard. They all had a few vintage rings, but nowhere near the selection of The Gold Hatpin. We had plenty to look at and Diane was great at listening & educating us. This was helpful because my fiancee & I *thought* we knew what we wanted but there were a couple factors we hadn't considered & her input was very helpful. Along those same lines, she was not pushy in the least. Many other "basic" jewelry stores wanted to source rings from other places, construct a "vintage looking" ring, etc & we got the feeling that we were dealing with a used car salesman at times. Diane was none of that & truly a pleasure to work with. We can't recommend Diane and The Gold Hatpin enough.

I had always wanted to go through a process like this and now it's a no brainer to build in regular check-ins with Lora to adjust my wardrobe to my style as it grows. Really priceless to always be confident in how I present myself.

A few years ago we had my daughter's bat mitzvah and I found the most difficult task of the weekend was coordinating all the wardrobes for the entire family. And finding a dress for myself when the department stores carry so little these days was impossible. And now my son's is coming up and the thought of doing it all again was daunting! I decided what we needed was a personal stylist and I turned to Yelp for help. I came across these glowing reviews for Lora and emailed her right away. She wrote back within minutes and being someone who really values responsiveness I loved her immediately. We set up a call to go over all the details. Our initial call involved me telling her about all the weekend events, what the kids wanted to wear/not wear (my 14 year old daughter can be especially particular) and describing what the decor of the party would look like. I followed up with pictures of what we wore a few years ago to my daughter's bat mitzvah, as well as sample decor for my son's upcoming bar mitzvah. Lora sent me all the info for her pricing, which seemed fair and well worth it. To be fair I would probably spend more shipping back returns since many of these stores (ahem saks) don't do returns for free these days. We then set up a day for her to come style the entire family, but decided she would start with me...and then we could figure out everyone else's outfits around mine. Styling day arrived and Lora showed up with suitcases filled of beautiful clothes. She nicely kicked me out of my room and set them all up. There were a lot of clothes and accessories (shoes, jewelry, pocket squares, etc), but again this was for 3 events for a family of 5. She had some beautiful dresses for me, but there were 3 very clear winners: one for the friday night dinner, one for the service and another for the party. All were dresses I likely wouldn't have picked out myself and she helped me figure out what the service dress would look like once my seamstress was able to shorten it to the perfect length. We also decided the party dress would be better at midi length. While I took the longest, I was one of her easier clients because then she met my husband who hates nothing more than trying on clothes. Fortunately, she had it all laid out for him to make it as easy as possible, but he did his fair share of grunting as he tried on one outfit after another. And my daughter was even more difficult. The first party dress she tried on couldn't have been more perfect, but wasn't what she had in her mind originally so it took a few weeks of trying on more dresses (that I bought on my own) before she admitted that one of Lora's picks really was perfect. My boys were pretty easy, but are in major growth spurt mode so she needed to send clothes in different sizes. One of the best things about Lora is that she does all the returns for you, which saves a lot of time. Lora took pics of everything before she left and a week after sent me a lookbook for each outfit, which will be so helpful when I'm organizing everything for the big weekend. She also send me links for everything else we needed for the big day (ex: clutch for me, suits in bigger sizes for my boys, etc). And thanks to Lora I think every member of my family has outfits, shoes AND accessories for all 3 events that weekend. I can't wait to post pics of it all after the big weekend and I'm even more excited to do a everyday styling session with Lora after the bar mitzvah is done. She also does closet organization so can't wait to use her for that as well!

But my Madewell dresses from 2016 no longer really fit, and when I found myself wearing increasingly shapeless clothes to compensate, I knew it was time for professional help. It's an investment to buy a lot of clothes at once, but it was time, anyway, and attempting all this shopping myself would have been rough. Alyssa's time and talent were priceless. She was non-judgmental about my per-piece budget preferences and mindful of my request to shop local/women-owned where possible. She showed up ready to tackle my 3 insanely large and insanely overcrowded closets, and we got straight down to business. She had mentioned to me before that this service is a minimum of four hours, which initially surprised me- but when we wrapped up my own closets, SIX hours later, I hugged her tight and praised her god given talent! Alyssa tackles this process in a very non-threatening way. One item at a time, she goes through your closets to determine: keep, toss, donate, or sell. I will admit, I was pretty open to the idea, so there were (I would guess) only 5 or so items I actually fought her on giving up. She was never once pushy, or judgmental about any of my clothes. On the items where she would say "Donate" and I would plead "But wait, I like that!" she immediately offered up two ideas: 1) "Try it on for me, please" and 2) "When was the last time you wore this?" Seems simple enough, but I'd say on all but one item we debated, after doing one of those two things, I was willing to toss it into the donate pile. I've been in the same apartment for 5 years, the same job for 7, and I hadn't even realized how my closets mirrored my life in that regard. I had shoes, clothes, interview outfits, coats, jackets, you name it, which were not only out of date, but they were in horrible shape. I now have two closets, completely cleaned out, and styled for the seasons. Cannot recommend her enough! She did an amazing job with this, and she has also helped me style outfits in the past- so any of her services would be something I would recommend to friends and family without a second thought.
