Maggie has been an awesome trainer. Just when I start to get used to a routine she changes it up to make it more challenging. As a lady with lifting goals, she's really supportive about me using heavier weights and always encourages me to push myself. We talk a lot about food during our sessions, and her knowledge of a plant-based diet has helped me be a better home cook! I'm proud to say that I'm more conscious of my meat and dairy intake, and it's made a big difference in how I feel day to day. read more

Maggie has seriously changed my life in more ways than she realizes. Since I started doing virtual workouts and nutrition work with her, I've felt much more energetic and have started forming lasting healthy habits. I'm in the best shape I have ever been in, all thanks to Maggie! I was at first nervous about how effective personal training would be in a virtual setting but Maggie gives me great points on my posture all the time and we haven't run into any issues for being virtual. Rather I've appreciated doing workouts in the comfort of my home without needing to go anywhere. I would highly recommend working with Maggie for your health and fitness read more

I reached out to Maggie during the summer this year because I was having lower back issues and had low energy probably due to the lack of moving around since the pandemic. My main purpose was to get fix my lower back issues since but I got much more in these few months. I wasn't put on a diet or anything but I did start to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet as well as other small changes following Maggie's suggestions. I've gradually been losing weight and getting fitter, even my boyfriend noticed too! Also, Maggie is very kind and friendly. She supported me as a close friend when my work got really busy. It's always a pleasure talking with her as she is so knowledgeable and understanding. read more

I have been working with Maggie for the last 4 weeks. She trains me 3 times a week. We focus on total body. We started adding boxing during my second week. I love it. I signed up for personal training with Maggie because I needed help structuring my workouts and learning what I was actually doing! The workouts she creates are always personalized, and she makes fun conversation during the session so it goes by fast! She also has a lot of great nutrition tips. In addition to our scheduled sessions, she makes herself available to answer questions about working out or nutrition pretty much whenever! Sometimes I text her if I'm confused about a workout, or if I'm at the grocery store and not sure if a certain food is healthy. I've been working with her for about 2 months so far, and I've already started to see awesome results! I work out much more regularly now and eat healthier, and as a result, I'm really happy with the way I look, and I have more energy throughout the day. read more

I've been training with Maggie since Feb and it has been great. Im so much stronger than I was and I've lost 10 pounds. Maggie is easy to work with and flexible with scheduling so that I can fit my workout in during my workday. The workouts change all the time so it doesn't get boring. Highly recommend! read more

I didn't love exercising - and didn't do it much before training with Maggie. I almost fainted the first class as I hadn't worked out in so long and was very close to calling quits, but thanks to Maggie I didn't! What I like about Maggie is that she is persistent, motivating, and never makes me feel like I'm not good enough. She also encourages breaks. Those qualities go a long way - especially for a person like me who finds exercising scary. I have seen improvement in my strength and more importantly my confidence with exercising. If you are someone who finds it hard to workout and want to get started, Maggie is a great trainer who can make a difficult workout go by quickly. She's also super fun to talk to. Definitely recommend! read more

I've been working with Maggie for several years now, and it's been a great experience. She's not just an amazing trainer, but a great person. She makes working out fun for me! She's super flexible with scheduling, and always tailors the workout to my current needs and/or injuries. Also, she loves dogs, and I'm free to bring my doggo to any session. More importantly, my dog loves her, which says a lot. I can't recommend Maggie enough! read more

Maggie was my trainer for a little over a year when I lived in SF. We just moved to NY & I'm devastated to have lost her as a trainer. She was awesome at giving me exercises that pushed me, but weren't impossible. She also adapted the sessions to some injuries I had, and made sure to include things that I loved doing (like wrapping up each workout with 10 mins of boxing). Maggie was also extremely helpful in making sure I was keeping the correct form for all exercises, which was invaluable. Couldn't recommend her highly enough! read more

I've been working with Maggie for several months and it's been one of the best decisions I've made since moving to San Francisco. Since she started training me I've seen a vast improvement in the breadth of what I'm able to accomplish physically, and am much more motivated to work out than I ever have been in the past. She's been an awesome coach, guiding me through my fitness/nutrition journey, pushing me when needed, and above all is just a good human who I genuinely enjoy and look forward to seeing every week. Highly recommend reaching out to her about health/wellness/fitness goals. read more

I've worked with Maggie from October 2021 to March 2022 and I couldn't be happier. Maggie provided different options and flexibility for personal training (virtual and/or in person, nutrition coaching) during COVID that I appreciated. She took extra effort to ensure you were comfortable with COVID protocols. Personal training with Maggie is both fun and effective! She tailored workouts based on the areas that I wanted to focus on and needed the most help. She uses workout philosophies from various workout types like yoga, boxing, emom, HIIT, and more. She also takes a holistic approach by asking about stressors in your life and how meditation and mental states can help you physically as well I would highly recommend working with Maggie to hit your fitness (and mental health) goals. read more

Maggie's in-home training support has made a huge difference in our fitness and wellbeing over the past year. Her creative and new weekly workout routines helped us maintain our flexibility, strength and muscle mass. Maggie customizes our workout routine for both me and my husband's unique anatomical needs, provides advice on our diet to maximize our metabolism and nutritional intake, and makes working out fun! Thank you Maggie! read more

This review is for Maggie as a trainer. I trained with Maggie before, and I personally think she's awesome. She's very personable and encouraging. She knows how to push you when she knows you can go a little bit further, but helps you or gives you alternatives when you insist that you can't. My ultimate goal for working out was mainly to get more toned and build muscles, and I honestly felt the difference after the 2 months I had working with Maggie. I felt my best, most in shape and strongest during my training. You really can't go wrong training with Maggie, and she will definitely make training fun and personalized to your goals. Plus, you can only trust a trainer who looks like they are in shape and knows what they are doing with their own body. Unfortunately I have yet to try her meals, but they do look amazing and I don't doubt they taste amazing. I will definitely try it sometime! read more

Prior to working with Maggie, I had a different perspective of personal trainers/coaches. They often seemed intimidating and judgmental to me. Maggie couldn't have been farther from those. She was an inspiring and motivational partner and I truly felt like she became my fan. In the four months I got to work with her, she guided me in both fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness to be the better version of myself. She somehow made challenging workouts enjoyable for me. I am a nurse who works long and varied hours, and Maggie consistently made herself available and adaptable to my schedule. She reminded me to prioritize sleep alongside exercise. Above all, Maggie helped me reach a potential I didn't think I had in me, and now I'll never forget it's there. Don't hesitate in reaching out to her. read more

I started working with Maggie when I was 4 months postpartum and it was one of the best decisions I made in my new, post-baby life! I was struggling to keep myself motivated enough to work out, and felt like I couldn't go back to group classes like Barry's with a young infant at home. I was looking for a virtual trainer and nutritionist and Maggie is the perfect fit. Maggie understands my lifestyle and tailors workouts that meet me where I'm at in my postpartum journey. Her nutrition advice has been so helpful and she encourages healthy eating habits that are sustainable rather than quick fixes or fads. I've actually been seeing results in the 2 months I've been working with her. I wasn't sure if virtual training would be as effective, but Maggie makes it fun and I feel like someone is holding me accountable. Between working full time, having a new baby and traveling so much, I feel like I've still been able to workout and eat healthy all thanks to Maggie. I'd highly recommend setting up a consultation to see if she is the right fit for you! read more

Maggie really is the best trainer. She makes working out so rewarding/fun that you actually want to do the harder workout. I met her as my teacher for a group fitness class, and instantly hit it off. After a couple months of always coming to her class, I asked her to personally train me because I needed consistency in my routine. Now we train twice a week and I LOVE it. She is accommodating with my schedule always changing, and lets me lay out at her pool after a good workout :) I've lost (and kept off) the weight that I wanted to drop, I eat healthier (she also coaches me on this!!), and I'm overall in better mental and physical shape. I wouldn't go to anyone else in the city if you want to see results and learn to love the challenge. read more

Maggie Shih - Before and after in 3 months!! - Trainers Near Me

Maggie provided me with nutritional consultation and was amazing! It was really important to me to find someone who could work with a primarily plant based diet and Maggie was perfect for that. She really works with you to slowly introduce healthy eating habits that will stick and last. Once I started eating this way, my cravings for junk food just disappeared. One of her main focuses was making sure my energy levels were good while introducing the dietary changes. I lift a few days a week so it was crucial to me as well. I would recommend Maggie to anyone looking to make a healthy lifestyle change - she is incredible! read more

I have been working out with Maggie since January and am so pleased. I was looking for a trainer who could meet me where I was, would push me in the ways I needed, but also understand what my fitness goals were outside of just losing weight. I was really looking for a trainer that could help me learn how to actually use and activate different muscles and be patient enough to walk me through why the exercises she had me do were important for my body. I have always been active in working out but this is the first time I've understood how it works, which has transformed how I see working out and pushed me in ways I did not know were possible. My time with Maggie has helped me not only get in much better shape, I now have the skills that can carry me forever in my fitness journey. Although I've heard it alot, one thing Maggie has taught me is the importance of nutrition in my overall fitness. She is very active in helping me figure out what I should be doing with nutrition without pushing me or making me feel guilty. Since I've met her, I have made some dietary changes that have made the world of difference. She caters both her training and nutrition advice to what my body needs with my various health concerns and problems. And at the beginning when she didn't fully know about all my health concerns, took it upon herself to learn more about how they interacted with nutrition and what I needed to do moving forward. I so appreciate that she did the homework for me and really had my best interest in mind. I love training with Maggie, could not recommend her enough! read more

I recently worked with Maggie over the course of ~6 months, half the time her coming to my house and the other half me going to her gym. At times we needed to reschedule or adjust times, and she was always super flexible and accommodating. Maggie was consistently cheerful, motivating, and fun to talk to while working out. I really appreciated that she truly listened to my desire to work out in a body-positive, non-diet focussed way - and was careful around my past injuries as well. I felt stronger and able to form a new habit and routine that I've largely been able to carry forward on my own. Thank you, Maggie! read more

I worked with Maggie for 3 months (would have loved to work with her longer except both our summer vacation plans got in the way), and really enjoyed it! Maggie is perfect for you if you are looking for someone who will give you BOTH fitness and nutrition advice. I was specifically looking for someone who would understand my current diet (heavily Asian foods) and lifestyle (likes to socialize over food), and still help me reach my goals. Working with Maggie has been great because she prioritizes creating a fitness, diet, and lifestyle plan that is sustainable, and one which leads to overall healthier choices. I was a bit skeptical to switch out meat for plant based proteins, but honestly Maggie has made me a huge fan of the plant based diet. She is very knowledgeable about nutrition, and a great accountability partner. I also love working in an indoor gym, so that we have access to all the equipment that would make training more effective. Her rates are reasonable. TLDR if you are looking for someone who can introduce you to a healthier (plant-based) diet and who customizes exercises in the gym to help you reach your goals, reach out to Maggie! read more

I've been working with Maggie as my trainer for a year and it has been awesome. Her knowledge of exercise and nutrition is comprehensive and she tailors the workout to my particular needs. She also is great about mixing up the workouts so you never get bored. You can tell she really cares about your overall health and doesn't come in with an agenda. If you are looking for a personal trainer or group trainer, you are not going to find a better one in the Bay Area! read more

Maggie is an amazing trainer who understood and met my needs for my fitness level. I personally do better with in person sessions, so Maggie met with me outside for physically distant training sessions. The time flew by during the sessions- Maggie challenged me just the right amount for me to not dread my trainings every week, but to still be sore the next day . She is also non judgmental and fun to talk to while working out, which is super important for me when choosing a trainer. She uses a combination of body weight movements, resistance bands, and boxing for cardio (since I told her I hate cardio and don't do running ). I got great work outs, even with the challenge of not having a gym with equipment. I highly recommend her for your personal training needs! read more

Maggie is a great trainer, every week at Pinterest she runs bootcamp classes after hours and her online sessions during quarantine are helping me keep active and healthy. She's a great trainer that motivates and pushes her clients effectively in a positive manner. She also runs very fun classes on site and her online virtual sessions are easy to follow along and give me a great workout since I am not able to go to bootcamp or the gym read more

I first met Maggie when she was meal-prepping and I was 90% paleo. We reconnected more recently for my fitness needs because Im starting to go more plant based. I love that I'm able to implement both fitness strategy with diet/nutrition info with someone who is very knowledgeable in how the body actually uses food. She's helped me see fitness success as a lifestyle rather than trying to get back into certain jeans. With Maggie, it feels more about the combination of actions rather than simply working out and exhausting my body while fueling it with all the wrong stuff. read more

started maggie at the end of february and it's been really great so far. she's very flexible in scheduling! I enjoy her interesting stories while working out because it makes it go faster. she's very enthusiastic and always in a happy mood. she pushes me hard during training and doesn't make me feel bad for being slow or taking multiple breaks. highly would recommend her to anyone that is new to personal training! with corona, she's been flexible from switching to in person training to virtual training which is great! read more

Maggie has been a great trainer and nutritionist. I wanted to get in better shape, and I've actually been seeing results and getting stronger thanks to her. I've done personal training with Maggie for over a year now. She is very good at what she does. Every workout session is challenging, but also rewarding and fun, which is good motivation at 7:30 in the morning when you'd rather be sleeping. Maggie worked with me to understand my fitness goals and created a plan to get there. I've seen a tremendous difference in my fitness levels from a year ago (and my friends have noticed too). Easily one of the best decisions I ever made. I didn't do any of the nutrition stuff, but she is clearly very knowledgeable in that area, and I likely would have seen even better results if I wasn't so stubborn :) In terms of scheduling, Maggie was very flexible. Her rates are competitive with the market and she's very reliable. If you're looking for a new trainer or you're considering one for the first time, look no further. read more

I wish that I could give 10 Stars to Maggie! My relationship with food, exercise, anorexia, self image, the scale has been very rocky since the age of 15 (I'm 33 now). I've had personal trainers, nutritionist, etc. in the past. None of them related to me whatsoever. Attending a close friend's birthday party, I came into conversation with another guest about this issue in San Francisco. Long story short, he recommended doing an Orangetheory with Maggie, and the rest is history! I initially met Maggie when she was an Orangetheory coach. I got one on one time every class, and she always made time for me. Sadly, she left Orangetheory, but was so good to me that I continue working with her in addition to OTF! I'm in the best shape that I've ever been in, because of Maggie! She even offers nutritional guidance, which I did not do I n the beginning. However, I wasn't seeing the full results I thought I should be seeing...I expressed this to Maggie, and she had me enlist in her optional nutrition program....I did this (reluctantly), but am so glad I did! The difference the nutrition aspect makes with proper exercise makes all the difference! Thank you, Maggie! I'm yours forever!!!! Love, Brent read more

I knew I was going to try a juice cleanse for the first time and I asked Maggie how I can cut some weight before I go on vacation in a few months. This vacation will require me to be in a bikini most of the time. I am now on the 3rd week of my meal plan after the juice cleanse and I have dropped about 10 lbs now. I feel really great and I thought I was going to be miserable but I am actually enjoying the food that I am prepping. Thank you so much Maggie!! Love ya. read more

Maggie has been my personal trainer for a while now. She is very knowledgeable and will work with you to achieve whichever goals you set. She is an excellent motivator. She knows how much you can do, regardless of what you think you can/can't do. She will definitely push you to do your best. One of the most valuable qualities she has is that she is not intimidating. Getting in shape, going to the gym, and testing your limits is a difficult, nerve wracking thing to do. Maggie is extremely encouraging, able to change exercises if one is too hard, and is always there to give you that extra bit of inspiration to get that last rep done. I told her that I was going to take a trip to Everest Base Camp and she changed my workout routine to help me achieve this goal. I made it to Base Camp with no injuries. In a few months, I am planning to tackle Kilimanjaro. Once again, we changed my routine to help me get in the best shape to reach the summit. Maggie Shih - Because of Maggie, I am now jealous of my shadow. It mocks me in the morning as I get dressed. I wish I looked as good as it. - Trainers Near Me

Working with Maggie was life changing for me. Her method of nutritional consulting really resonated with me because it was so personalized to my needs. Plus Maggie is super knowledgeable about nutrition, the body and fitness and that impressed me most. It was a real pleasure working with her. I didn't have much of an appetite when I first engaged Maggie, so her meal plan recommendation helped me to rebuild but healthfully. She asked that I keep a food journal to not only track what I eat but importantly to bring greater awareness and attention to the way I feel while eating. This changed my relationship to food - what nutrients my body needs and what foods would fuel that, and how to portion control and read labels. It helped me to also pay attention to what my body is telling me - when I'm actually hungry vs eating out of boredom, and when I'm full vs bloated. She helped me make sense of food and now my palate is forever changed, for the better!! read more
