The gal inside warmly greeted me and I was left to browse on my own (just how I like it). I found all kinds of goodies in here - tumblers for drinks, chalky paint supplies for crafting and furniture refinishing, home decor, food items, clothes, holiday stuff, outdoor garden stuff. We arrived after 5pm when everything on Main Street closes aside from a few restaurants.... but this spot was open for a quick browse! They feature a range of small booths with interesting handmade goodies, most of which I believe I've seen at the Saturday Farmer's Market. The young lady didn't make room for me to look, but hey, we're still kinda in the midst of COVID, so I made my way to an opposite wall where I looked at a shirt. It didn't have a price so I asked a second young lady, "How much?". She acted as though I was bothering her when she came over, looked at it, told me the price (without making any eye contact), and then went back behind the counter. That's when I noticed the first young lady, that was previously at the earrings, went behind the counter. The bell went off in my head, "oh she works here." It was at that moment, I said, "Let's go!" I realized they were both being rude and possibly didn't want "me" in the store. I was going to keep it to myself, but my friend said, "Wow she was rude." They must be raking in the bucks, so I'll spend my money somewhere else...and so will all my friends.

After the fact I learned this appointment was past the stores normal business hours. When I arrived at the appointment she had a well presented snack and beverage ready for me and my friend. She also had an entire rack of clothes ready for me to try on as per my needs. She was very patient with me trying on clothes, took my opinions and critiques to heart, and came back with different selections based on that input. She was never pushy with me and even made a point to iterate that she did not want me to buy anything that I was not comfortable with. I left with several articles that day. She personally made an appointment for me at The Full Cup at La Promenade - another highly recommended boutique. The clothes that she has are of exceptional quality - something Mary prides herself on. I wear a pair of paints that I bought that day at least 2 or three times a week and they look fantastic. I purchased the pants 4 months ago and they hold up as if they are new. Since my first purchase I regularly receive emails and cards. The correspondence does not always promote the store, sometimes it is just to keep in touch. Mary greatly cares about her business and she does this by genuinely caring for her customers. I currently live in Washington DC, but I will always make a point to stop into her store when I am in the area. I cannot wait to see what she has I store for the future of her business.
