We had a large group go in on Saturday night. They easily accommodated us in a separate room where another large group was already seated. Rebecca was our server and she was great! So I am in town for the week on business and am enjoying the company of my wife. A few locals suggested Magel's Grill. We were greeted with smiles and seated promptly. After quickly receiving our drinks, our order was taken: "I'll have shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas." "Sure. Do you want chicken or beef?" "I would like shrimp?" (Didn't I just say that?) "Oops!" [Wife snickers] [My wife order grilled chicken and some veggies.] My meal: the tortillas were like eating construction paper. Almost zero moisture. Charro beans were basically pinto beans and water. Very bland. Guacamole was about 1.5 Tbsp and quite watery. "So how is your meal so far?" "Well you can have these tortillas back. They are really dry and tough." "Yeah. People complain about that a lot. Would you like flour tortillas?" (Not wanting to take a chance or prolong the pain) "No thanks." My wife commented on her butterflied chicken breast, stating that one have was cooked perfectly and that other half was very dry and overdone. So I walked out with two questions in my mind (1) "If they get that complaint a lot about the corn tortillas, why not fix it instead of shrug their shoulders?" (2) How the heck do you overcook half a chicken breast and perfectly cook the other half? Defective grill? Defective cook? Both?" There are plenty of other places to eat around here so we will likely not return. read more

Decent food but the service was HORRIBLE. We waited 13 minutes for a drink order. They forgot the rolls. Then they never refilled our drinks even after we requested them. The best part was when they tried to charge us for 6 alcoholic beverages that were actually for the party at the table next to us. It would have added another $25 to our bill! When we brought it to their attention they took five of them off but left one beer on there. Our server then disappeared and no one could find her. The bartender could not find her after searching and had to adjust the bill for us. This was our first time in Paris and this restaurant was recommended. When we head through this town again in the future we will not be eating here again. I am very disappointed. read more

I'm not super blown away, but it does seem to be one of the nicer places to eat in Paris. I had the chicken friend steak on one occasion and the hot and spicy salad on another. The mashed potatoes were less than stellar and the salad was drowning in dressing, but everything else was totally above par. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Just arrived in town and wanted a restaurant that wasn't a chain. Not impressed. The service was good, our waitress was very attentive and nice. But the food was not more than mediocre. I ordered the vegetable plate, which came with your choice of four different vegetables. When I asked how the green beans were, the answer I received was, "do you like canned?" I requested the broccoli, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and corn. The broccoli was good, and the fried okra was decent. The corn was obviously canned and over-heated to the point of being mushy. The mashed potatoes must have been instant. The rolls were good. I will say that the spinach artichoke dip was very tasty. My coworker ordered a frozen margarita and it was extremely tangy and sweet. All in all, I was not impressed. At 5:30 pm, there wasn't more than two other tables in the restaurant. read more

My husband and I went for an early dinner yesterday. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. My husband had the roast beef with mashed potatoes and green beans. Servings were generous and everything tasted great! The desserts of cobbler and bread pudding were very tasty. We are light eaters and brought half of everything home. Unfortunately the worst dining experience I ever had in Paris. I was seated in full view of a dirty water mop bucket and my table was clearly neglected before seating. Just to think I chose this place for a date made my anxiety worse. The floor was not clean and the waiting staff clearly took their time with other matters other than the customer. For were not my date meeting me there instead of arriving together, I would have left immediately. But being patient that I am I tried to make the most of it by getting a staff member to bus my table and surroundings. Fortunately it was done before my date arrived. The food while edible, was not outstanding or differential. No tip, no return. Yelp instructs me to leave a star to complete the review, it's the only one it deserves. read more

Torn between 1 star & 2 star review, probably should be 1, but this place used to be good so I am hoping that they are just in a slump. Our last two trips the food has gotten progressively more disappointing. The food used to be fresh, hot & flavorful, lately though it has more closely resembled microwave dinners. They have taken items off of the menu (including my favorite, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich) & the items that are left on the menu are bland. Service has been hit or miss, with more miss than hit. Final word, I don't plan on going back until I see several reviews saying that the restaurant has came back around, & I definitely would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Our party of six adults and one child tried Magel's Grill tonight for dinner. It was my wife's and my first time there. We both tried the "Texas Best Jack," a grilled chicken topped with steamed vegetables and Jack Cheese. It was served steaming hot in a skillet with two sides and rolls. It was delicious, and a lot more than we each could consume in one meal, so we both wound up with a take-home box. Next time, we'll split the entre. Our server was Brittany and she was very attentive. She kept checking to make sure we had everything we needed. She was a great server. We'll return to Magel's Grill again. read more

We had our nephew's Rehearsal Dinner party there and we were very very happy with it. We were a very large group and yet they got us seated in a private room immediately and the service was great. We ordered strawberry margheritas from the bar and not only were they huge but they were wonderful! I ordered the fajitas and got a sizzling platter of wonderfully seasoned meat, fresh tortillas and freshly chopped veggies to go on top. My daughter ordered the pot roast and it was really good too! My family moved from Paris, TX in April 2015. We had stopped going to Magel's due to how unprofessional the Manager and wait staff were. She would be seen on her phone or sitting at tables with other customers, and on more than one occasion cursing at other employees, and cutting up loudly. We are visiting family over the holidays and went to Magel's Thursday night. The apparently new manager made his way through the restaurant and looked so professional and was so polite. He helped the servers in every way possible and was even seen cleaning off tables!! The wait staff was so orderly and the restaurant was so nice and clean! I was pleasantly surprised at the way this business had changed. So glad that Magel's "took out the trash" I will be sure to visit EVERYTIME we return to Paris! Food is to die for!
