It took me about a year to figure out the name of this little park. And in all honesty, I'm still not completely sure that I have the name right. There is no actual sign that says the park is called Magazine Brow. The words carved in the stone archway entrance only indicate when the park was built. But some of the announcements/event fliers on one of the bulletin boards in the park mentioned the names Vale Park and Magazine Brow--Vale Park is down the hill further right on the New Brighton Promenade, so all I can figure is that this park is Magazine Brow, seeing as it's very close to Magazine Lane.
Either way, this little park is tucked away on Rowson Street, down some stone steps and surrounded by trees and walls. Perfect for a short walk with your dog, or a quick breather if you need to get out of the house. I like it for a quiet morning muse with my notebook, sitting on the steps or one of the benches. It's a fairly peaceful, if tiny park.
There is also a ball court, and a small children's playground area. read more
