It's a nice place for a walk, a quiet place to read, or a place to play with and walk your dogs. The day I was there, it was very quiet, so it won me over easily. I love peaceful little patches of green where I can read a book in peace and quiet or write. This park would make a great place for a romantic picnic.

There is no actual sign that says the park is called Magazine Brow. The words carved in the stone archway entrance only indicate when the park was built. But some of the announcements/event fliers on one of the bulletin boards in the park mentioned the names Vale Park and Magazine Brow--Vale Park is down the hill further right on the New Brighton Promenade, so all I can figure is that this park is Magazine Brow, seeing as it's very close to Magazine Lane. Either way, this little park is tucked away on Rowson Street, down some stone steps and surrounded by trees and walls. Perfect for a short walk with your dog, or a quick breather if you need to get out of the house. I like it for a quiet morning muse with my notebook, sitting on the steps or one of the benches. It's a fairly peaceful, if tiny park. There is also a ball court, and a small children's playground area.

During the recent regeneration of the park ,over 50 species of trees and shrubs were planted to provide year-round colour, paths were resurfaced, the Victorian pavilions and bandstand resurrected and the magnificent Gladstone Conservatory salvaged and restored. Being a Liverpudlian, its suprising that I had never actually visited Stanley Park before. This…read morepark does not look much from the outside when you're viewing from the main road at its enclosed gates. However, upon first impression I caught a glimpse of the park's beauty almost instantly. There is plenty of trees and foliage around that provides a cool shade, plus many benches for you to take a rest bite. Moreover, I was delighted to see the lake inhabited by many species of birds and ducks. On the other hand, it was failry clear that the lake was infested with litter and appeared filthy with murk. Incredible how wildlife lives there. On the more positive side, there are beautiful overhead walking bridges that take you from the Everton side of the lake (Yaay!) to the Liverpool side (Booo!). Further down the park is a glass house called Isla Gladstone Conservatory and a children's playing area with several obstacles to keep the kids occupied. The Conservatory (as Tina has already mentioned) has been revived and always worth a visit whilst you're at the park. Stanley Park is a pleasant getaway from the busy traffic that surrounds. It has many lovely features that you shouldn't miss.

This park is always much quieter than Coronation Park not far from here, I think the play area is smaller and the bowling green dominates a substantial plot atractnig a different sort of folk! I tend not to use the park as a faciilty in itself these days, I don't play tennis or bowls, or have a dog and I think I'm a little big to go on the swings, I usually detour through the park en route somewhere; it's such a lovely space, always so fresh and green; it's well tended to with large flower beds and stretching grassed areas. The shaded pathways through overhanging trees are so attractive. Recently more park benches and picnic tables were installed and the play area has recently undergone renovation. Walton Hall Park is not the biggest of parks in Liverpool but large enough to say the least! On a…read moresunny day, it is a wonderful place to spend the day with family and friends. If you fancy a picnic, there is plenty of open field space where you can't be noticed or noticed if you wish. The park has one main lake and a smaller pond where you can enjoy fishing or feeding ducks, swans or geese. Having said it is a great day to spend on a sunny day, it is also a great day to spend on a snowy day; back in January's snow flurry, the park had a magnificent white display with lakes turning into an ice rink. The place was beautiful to walk through but naturally hazardous for children and animals. Occasions like this are rare but when the opportunity arises, I would recommend a visit whether sunny or snowy!

There are around 250 acres of woodland and parkland (no wonder it smells so fresh) and boasts a great mix of trees and flowers. You are guaranteed to spot numerous animals birds; squirrels are very popular in this area, as are Jays and Woodpeckers the numerous ponds and the lake in the park attracts toads, kingfishers and dragonflies; this place is a real haven. Although popular, it's always tranquil as people just come to walk and relax. Great place for an afternoon picnic

There are acres and acres of lush scenery to peruse through as well as a pond for fishing in and a golf course for all those aspiring golfers. It's just a shame because it's set on the back of a few housing estates and occasionally you can get a bit of trouble as you walk around. So be warned, it's not a place that I would let my children go to play unsupervised! Other than that it's a great walk, I used to job through here fairly frequently and never got any trouble. It's a good place for groups of friends to go and play football as well as they have two football pitches that can be used. There's also a nice pub called the Cherry Orchard which you should try if you get peckish after your walk!

There are some nice, shaded areas for sitting, walking, biking, and exploring. There benches spaced throughout the park, and there is even a fairly large playground area for small children. There seem to be a fair amount of trees lining the walking paths which makes this park a much nicer bit of green than some of the other parks in towns and cities that only seem to have a patch of grass to offer. Also, there is a small duck pond here if you know where to find it, down amongst the trees on the far side. You can also ride your bike here, and walk your dog.

Massey Park is a ball field in Liscard Village, near the Asda. This park seems to be generally used…read moreby school children from a nearby primary school. There are often kids playing here with their teachers/instructors. It's a fairly good sized, fenced off playing field, and offers a good, safe atmosphere for children who love sports and want to leg around fighting over a ball ... (my definition of any sport involving a ball.)

Flynn's Piece is very small--it's more a field, really, than a park, but it makes a good place to walk your dog, and I suppose if you want a quiet park for a picnic this would be a good choice since there are no benches and no playground, which probably means fewer people will frequent this park over the other parks in this area. I like the name. It makes me wonder who it was named after, and why? And the Flynn bit, naturally, makes me think of Robin Hood due to Errol Flynn's notorious role in the old black and white film. (But I always preferred Basil Rathbone as Sir Guy!)

A beautiful lake to visit when in north Wales and somewhere we've been several times. It's four…read moremiles long and one mile wide (the largest lake in Wales in fact) and near to the little town of Bala which is close to its northern end. It's a great lake for watersports of all kinds and kayaks and yachts can be hired locally. It's also a protected wildlife site; there are many species of fish which live in the depths of the lake, including a fish called a gwyniad which is no longer found anywhere else in the UK! The Bala Lake Railway is a narrow gauge steam railway which travels around the eastern banks of the lake. The primary station is at Llanuwchllyn at the southern end and the trip takes about an hour. A marvellous area for walking too.
