A mismanaged company that gave me an estimate that was a fraction of the gouged amount I paid by a person who knew I was moving an apartment not "a few bookcases"!(the office made a 'Slight" mistake in the instructions given to the two workers sent the day of moving). The men were furious but in fairness to them, they did a decent job after they upset me. The office also advised me they "are not garbage men so I could throw out the garbage myself". Maffucci Moving did a great job with my move from NY to Florida. They arrived on time and well prepared for my load in on the truck, and assigned ample manpower for the job. They were very organized and took great care with all of our belongings. The driver of the truck that carried our thing to Florida gave us plenty of advanced notice about when to expect delivery, and we're right on time the day of the load out. Once again, they were like a well oiled machine removing our items from the truck, and paid attention to our instructions about what went where. All of our belongings came intact and in total. Local move took an extremely long time and the bill was nearly 75% above estimate. All was disclosed to them before-hand. I knew one item ended up being very difficult to move, so expected that we'd have to pay more - but not that much more. Their estimate was way off and they blamed me. They said it should have been a 4-person job and the responsibility was for me to complain during the move. I'm not the moving professional. Said we weren't packed and the movers had to wait (only things we packed when movers were there was bedding that had been slept on, couch pillows, and a few items under the bathroom sink). When I asked what specifically wasn't packed, they couldn't tell me. They also accused me of trying to cheat them and not pay (would never do that). Though the movers were lovely, it seemed that we got 1 experienced mover and 2 who seemed quite inexperienced. Full disclosure - they did give me $200 off the final bill, but the bill was still $1300 more than estimated. I feel horrible that I chose them, as the move was for my elderly mother. My family used this company back in October. They initially did a great job, but once we started to unpack, precious items were missing. When we realized this, we called and the owner told us to call the police and leave a report with them instead of saying he would talk to his guys and look into the situation on his part. If I could give you no stars, or negative stars I would. My entire experience was a nightmare from the time my items left my home until the time they were delivered at my new residence. From getting charged double the cost I was quoted to items stolen. At least 50% of my boxes arrived crushed with many broken items inside. Moving dollies that belonged to my deceased father never arrived. They were tagged and listed, but never delivered. A few other items were missing as well, but the kicker...a box with my jewelry. Why did I store my jewelry? I was informed that ALL belongings would be safely stored with 24-hour video surveillance. It seemed safer than carrying it along with me from hotel to hotel for three weeks in between pick up and delivery. I inquired about my box....nothing. I asked about seeing video footage....nothing. After speaking with multiple people, including an attorney friend that I have, I will be filing a police report for my missing jewelry. Not that it matters to you or your employees, but I will also file a complaint with BBB. I know I will never get my jewelry back, but the least you could do is investigate and not brush me off and treat me so disrespectfully as I was. Our daughter was moving to an apartment in Manhattan. Here in the boonies of CT, local movers tremble when you say "New York City." One of them recommended Maffucci -- in Long Island! It seemed like a total non-starter. As it happens, every interaction we had with them was superlative. They were personable to the max, prompt in replying to emails, and helpful through the entire process. They drove up in a blinding rain storm but they were right on time. Totally thrilled with the job that was done. The owner Judd was upfront from the start and while he estimated the move to be longer than some of the other companies, his estimate was dead on. The crew arrived a few minutes early and got to work right away. Other than a 15 minute break, they worked extremely hard and their system was fluid. They were friendly, respectful and professional. Significant damage to many items. Threw a 150 lb. leaf blower into the truck landing on and crushing many items including a $1,100 guitar in original heavy duty travel case. This careless act was viewed by the moving Team leader who was no help. As we un-packed we realized that many expensive items were stolen as boxes had been opened. Brand new Sthil blower, gone. A sealed box with over $250 of liquor, gone. Even a box with all our dress shoes and boots, $100s of dollars, gone. Tools galore, gone. Too many items to list. My wife and I hired Maffucci Moving when we relocated to Florida just before the New Year. We had to move 41 boxes from Brooklyn, NY to Delray Beach, Florida. Their truck came to our house at the agreed-upon time. Two nice young guys quickly took our stuff away. We then drove to Florida and awaited delivery which again arrived at the appointed time. We contacted this company for a move from NY to GA for our mom. I found them initially on Yelp and wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews but when I looked on Google thankfully the reviews were way more promising and consistent. My sister has done a lot of research on other options like attaching a trailer to my mom's truck, using a pod and a few others. The pod was a strong contender but ultimately we'd have to load and unload the pod ourselves when it arrived here. The price for this was comparable and thankfully they handle the tough part for us which is the loading and unloading. From the first time I called them for an estimate Tamika was very professional. She was patient and answered all my questions. I then had my sister contact her for more detailed information. We decided to move forward and I'm glad we did. They picked up her items and less than 2 weeks later they brought them down. Our movers were Daniel and Michael. They did an awesome job of unloading the items and making sure that everything went into the storage unit carefully. We decided on Bekins, as it seemed to be a long standing reputable company. NOT!!! The "quote" from the "professional" was over $5000.00 off, not in our favor. Yes we had to pay OVER $5000.00 dollars extra. ~~I waited until every box was unpacked to post this review as to be as solid as possible with my information. I'D ATTACH PICTURES, BUT THERE ISN'T AN OPTION TO DO SO. 1. Our boxes (at least 6 of them) labeled "FRAGILE" were torn, smashed, and destroyed. *Picture frames and wine glasses destroyed. 2. Our heirloom Tiffany Lamp, (passed down from Grandma, to mom to me) was completely destroyed. Unrepairable. UNACCEPTABLE! 3. The container that held all of my purses, was unwrapped, (YES it was wrapped and taped tightly), and SEVEN of my Kate Spade purses along with 4 Kate Spade Wallets were "Cherry Picked and stolen". There are two "chapters" to my review, but the "moral" of the story is that our company couldn't have gotten through this year without the stellar services of Maffucci! After a decade in a building in the Flatiron District that we had considered home for our company, the first chapter involved us moving out in the sweltering, midsummer NYC heat. Maffucci showed up at the prearranged time and efficiently swooped in to move us out before lunchtime - taking the majority of our company's furniture, etc. and securely storing them for a few months. The subsequent chapter took place late November / beginning of December as peak holiday craze and year-end activities were ramping up. My company was having to navigate the organized chaos of moving out of one office space and into our new office space. This involved some careful coordination. Maffucci was amenable and efficient with everything. Epilogue: We have settled in nicely at our new office, and we have Maffucci to thank for making it simple and headache-free! There was certain requirements we discussed with the salesman and office staff due to moving into a condo development which Beacon did not follow. When we called the company the dispatcher was extremely rude. In addition the movers showed up without masks. We asked them to put a mask on. I chose to use Bekins based on his estimate even though he estimated 3000 lbs less than all the other estimate and they would use the actual weight vs the other companies charge me the weight they estimated. I moved December 2018, the salesman who came was very nice and professional. The men who moved me were AMAZING! I was given my quote and after finally agreeing on a fair price he and I signed the contract total should have been $870.00 for the move and storage. My $750.00 quote for the move and the 120.00 storage(and I had removed much of the furniture from the original quote-one would think the price should have been less-NOPE!) There isn't enough room to write how many areas of this move went well. It started with calling Maffucci when a problem arose with the moving company we had already contracted with. We had a Bekins/Maffucci direct mailer in the house which we received after we had already arranged our move with another carrier. When the other carrier called us days before our move to tell us that our driver would not be available and they would be using a "partner", we chose to change our plans. We called Bekins/Maffucci and Diane was amazing. She worked fast and efficiently to prepare details for our estimate and got them over to me via email immediately. She was warm, capable and totally sold us on choosing Bekins/Maffucci because she demonstrated initiative and experience within moments of our call. She was able to get us dates we needed, because she knew how to manage tight schedules. It was clear that Diane was plugged into every detail of her company's operations. I am totally in awe of Diane's commitment to customer, company and her work team. She delivered on every promise and checked in with just the right timing at every phase of the move. She is every corporation's dream employee. Patrick the driver and John, Junior and Martin arrived on the scheduled date and on time. Patrick called to confirm they were on their way and provided his targeted arrival time. What happened next was remarkable. I have moved between states many times in my life, and this was the first time that I had such a coordinated, dedicated team of enthusiastic movers. I spent years in my career managing teams of operations people and am aware of what it takes to deal with customers while doing your job. They fully understood how to wrap delicate antique furniture and I couldn't be happier. They treated my home like it belonged to their own family. They treated my possessions like they were important to them. They treated me like a person and made eye contact and listened when working with me. They were professional yet very warm and caring. They worked fast, but carefully and it was clear that they took great pride in the quality of work - as individuals and as representatives of their company. They were respectful to one another which is always an indication that the company has hired well and selects people who work well out in the field. My experience with moves with other companies has been that the salesperson is wonderful, and the movers arrive with unpredictable skills and temperaments. This was not the case with Bekins/Maffucci. Everyone from my first conversation with Diane through my goodbye to the team after delivery, showed excellence in the staff. I could see that the team totally got their jobs and how to take care of customers. Things went exactly as planned through delivery with my items arriving in excellent condition. A new addition, Dave, worked with Patrick and John for the delivery. Dave was so experienced that I now had three (Patrick, John and Dave) seasoned movers who worked well together and far exceeded my expectations. I moved from upstate new york from a storage unit which they moved me into so they new how much stuff I had, to Florida, I was quoted a price and after they picked everything up they told me it would be double the price . I was told my belongings would be in Florida in 4 to 14 days, 3weeks later my belongings finally came, I had a lot of containers and as I unpacked I realized I was missing alot of things, ( at least 4 container) some items are not replaceable such as things left to me from my deceased mom. I filled out a claim form and they are refusing to make good for any of my items. The staff was not help full, I had to call the tracing specialist several times she never called me back and the claims adjuster reviewed my claim just denied responsibility for any of the missing items. The team a guys that spent two days meticulously packing my apartment became family and Seemed to care about each item they wrapped. Even the junk. One man spent all day making wooden crates to safeguard my art work. The storage process was painless and simple. As was the transfer to Florida. They kept me informed of timing, working around my schedule and the completion of my home. They arrived when they promised and the guys on the ground in Florida were nothing short of miraculous. They never hesitated in moving heavy boxes to specific locations, uncrating my artwork and gingerly placing it. I knew firsthand that these guys had a brutal move earlier in the day but they rallied and completed my move in grade AAA fashion. The driver, Mr. Don Bennet and is crew were amazing. Ask for them. Use this company at your own risk! In preparation for an interstate move from New York for work, it was my goal to obtain quotes from several companies in order to get what was the best service and price to suit my needs. The companies varied in price and services, but all the quotes were close in price range. I chose Bekins Triple Crown Maffucci because they initially appeared to be a dependable, respectable, honest company. This was the furthest from reality. The move started on a Thursday morning and went fairly well, the men that loaded the truck were hard-working and courteous. The only issue with the pickup was the difficulty in communicating with the men, as none of the three spoke English well- a minor barrier that was overcome. The real madness began the next morning as I received a call and voice mail stating my bill was now approximately $700.00 higher than the original quote because my load was over weight. The original quote took into account the distance (miles) and amount of household goods (weight) with a minimum of 5000lbs. If the load was more than the minimum, the bill is hence adjusted accordingly. This was acceptable and had no concern of coming even close to the minimum, as my basement apartment was furnished with a sparse amount of furniture. In fact just three years prior, my move to New York from North Carolina barely scaled 3000lbs with more personal belongings. These individuals at Maffucci claimed the household goods topped an amazing 5900lbs. The household items in my 2BR/2BTH apartment in North Carolina was drastically scaled-down to fit into a very small 1BR/1BTH basement apartment in New York and now weighs 2900lbs more! The bottom line-this company attempted to pull the oldest moving scam in the book. They're prompt and customer friendly until they have all your possessions loaded out of your reach on their truck. They then call you claiming you're over the weight or other variables that leads to an over-inflated bill with the convenience of holding your items hostage. Triple Crown Maffucci tried to tack-on extras in any shape or form imaginable; the 'weight scam' is only a fraction of the story. In the end, they lost and I won. The same men that picked my items up also delivered and they did an outstanding job. They are not the problem, the dishonest management and owners of this company are.
