As far as bakeries go, there really isn't much to talk about because to me commercial bread baking is pretty much the same. You get your staples like pan de sal, pan de coco and Spanish bread. Then there are a few specialties like hopiang baboy or sugar donuts.
I loved that this little local bakery has really pushed their boundaries and really set themselves apart. They often have a lot of different muffins, donuts with filling (most notable of which are the strawberry and blueberry ones), ensaymadas with honey glazed almonds, pizza bread, ham and cheese bread and so much more. My favorite baked product form them is a recent addition: the baked siopao with asado filling. If you've ever had baked siopao from the province, you would know how good this is! I've been trying to find the perfect version here in Manila for a long time but have been very disappointed several times. It was only until I tried it from my neighborhood bakery that I finally found the taste and texture perfection that I was looking for.
As I said, they really are more than just a bakery. They have places to sit down in the air-conditioned store where you can order good pasta (for less than P100 an order), pizza, nachos, mozzarella sticks, twister fries and more. They even have a frappe bar that churns out really good ice cold drinks to cool off this summer. read more
