This place is a dumpster. The property is trashy, the maintenance people don't know what they are doing and they play games with you. The owner is a slumlord because no money goes to fixing the property. We've been waiting 3 years for a new balcony to be installed in place of the one that had been rotting away for decades. My sink is clogged and the property manager had to go back in forth with them for 2 weeks to get a plumber out to fix it and they aren't getting them out here for another week. So that's 3 weeks with no bathroom sink. My advice is keep searching and don't even waist your time looking at this place. read more

Do not move here. It has been a total nightmare. There is only one pro to staying in these apartments. Pros: 1. Close to shopping, Wal-Mart, restaurants. 2. Maintenance is great, they do the best they can with such an old apartment building. The come out on time every time and do great work. Cons: 1. Apartments are old and falling apart. The walls started cracking after about 6 months. The carpet doesn't have any padding so it's very rough on your feet. 2.Parking lot looks like it's sinking into the ground, they replaced the one in the back, but it still looks like a sink hole will open up soon 3. Parking is bad. If you have a visitor and they do not have a pass their car will be towed at their expense, $250. They only give visitor passes for a week, so any visitor you have that doesn't have one and comes after the sun goes down, they are screwed. So, no sneaky links. Or late-night booty calls. 4.They have back patios, but you are not allowed to have a privacy screen, bikes, BBQ grill or anything other than patio furniture. 5. No playground for children to play. The so-called playground has 2 swings. Thats it. Kids are also not allowed to play ball or near the bushes for some odd reason, so if you have young children there is nothing for them to do. 6. If you have neighbors that are smokers or loud talkers you will definitely know it. The walls are very thin. We were also blamed for our neighbor who continued to smoke weed in his place, outside of his place and in his car in the parking lot. They would leave notes on our door warning us about drug policies. But I guess when there are more than two black families living in the same building, we must all be the same. Which is weird because my Hispanic neighbors would throw massive parties that included live mariachi bands, I don't remember the front office sending letters for that, but oh well. 7. There are a lot of dog owners, some are good and some are bad. Some leave their dogs in back yards, and they bark nonstop all night, some people don't believe in pick in up after their dogs so there is a lot of dog poop everywhere. 8. And this is a BIG one. Rats. Yes, there are rats, not mice. My wife woke up and found the biggest rat she had ever seen chilling on the stove, he didn't seem scarred or even afraid of her, it simply got up and went climbed behind the stove. We found that it had made a large hole and was living either in the stove or behind it for some time. The hole looked just like something you'd see in a cartoon. We also found evidence that they had been attempting to eat through the carpet to get to the next apartment. So, if you don't like Rats, termites, millipedes that climb up your walls steer clear. 9. Flooding. This place floods. Real bad. if you are downstairs your screwed during hurricane season so invest in sandbags and shovels. And if you think your safe upstairs your wrong. We had water pouring into our closed windows so much we had to stay up all night with a shop vac to suck up all the water. In conclusion if you are looking to move into these apartments i would advise you to read the Yelp reviews, I wish I had. There are other places to go to, Look for private owner homes or anywhere else than this place. And if you already moved in, I feel sorry for you and wish you the best. read more

Now that I'm no longer a resident I can write a truthful review, the used to offer 100 gift cards if we left reviews. this is the worst place ever! Rats in homes and they blow you off like it's normal. the grounds are not cared for at all! we had water coming in our apartment from last year during hurricanes to the point there were waves in home and nothing was done, our furniture ruined and mold all over everything. we submitted work orders and they would just close them stating they handled them, after 9months of nothing being done. we couldn't take it and moved out. they had men show up to my apartment and my minor son refused him at the door as we were not made aware anyone was coming, that same worker came back and tried to enter the apartment again, totally unacceptable! now they have a collections lady name Donna harassing me, I offered to make payments and she's refusing because we won't give her our new address! after men just showing up, we don't feel safe providing that info, she said THEN WE WONT ACCEPT YOUR PAYMENT!!DO NOT MOVE HERE! read more

Not good.:( We are grateful we had a year after we were displaced from hurricane. It served its purpose. But this corporation is money hungry and doesn't give a damn about people. The office staff are great, and not their fault. But to sum things up, towed cars, termites, carpet beetles, bugs, mold, lots of broken things, cheap flooring and carpeting that sucked from day one. And no security deposit back and we were charged for things that was their responsibility. I wrote to corporate and told them how I feel of course we never heard back because they don't care; just another invoice to pay the balance we owed. Do not rent here. Madison at Largo is unprofessional, retaliatory, and disrespectful of tenants' legal rights. Staff refused to verify my tenancy for a realtor unless I terminated my lease first (something not required by the lease!!) and then issued me a lease violation with no warning after I expressed frustration on a recorded call. They falsely labeled me "abusive," even though the lease clause cited only applies to harassment of a sexual or racial or personally demeaning nature, not to frustrated (but deserved) language. When I followed management's instructions to return my keys via my mother as I had to move out of state, their office staff refused to accept them, forcing her to leave them on a desk with no receipt provided. Please note: This was AGREED with the manager weeks ago in person and via email!! They also ignored my updated forwarding address, refused to acknowledge my legal name change (despite proper documents), and are still withholding my tenant file, including logs of unauthorized entry and water outages. Their maintenence illegally entered my unit with no communication and left my door unlocked!! I immediately reported it to the office but never heard back! During December, we had no water from 9am-5pm every day due to "sub water meter heaters". This is unacceptable! Management will try to gaslight you and say it didn't happen but also they "don't know if it's turned off if contractors don't tell them"! I even had no water at 8pm, called emergency maintenance who never came!! I somehow got water again at 10pm! If you value your legal rights or basic respect, look elsewhere. I moved in in June, and have been dealing with a terrible termite infestation ever since. They spot treat, and then they just come back. You will have PILES of termite poop all over your kitchen, your cabinets, all over your counter tops, on your STOVE. They refused to let me out of my lease without paying a 3000 lease break fee even though they weren't dealing with the issue. Then this week they flying termites started to swarm my apartment. 50 a night on the walls. Took them 10 days to send the exterminator and they flies are back. Seriously. If I could I would leave a 0. The only thing this place has going for them is Tiffany in the office. I lived here for two years..... first year was great then the second year was a nightmare. From 12/23 -4/24 nothing but issues. Sewage water coming up in both my bathtubs on Xmas day at that. Kitchen sink, dishwasher overflowing. Bathroom sink overflowing with hot water whenever upstairs apt would take a shower. Then the deal breaker the mold and the mildew had a leak in the wall which left the entire wall behind the kitchen sink moldy. They came in and bleached it down and thought they were going to just seal it right back up. Thank god I work from home and saw all of this I made them tear counter tops cabinets everything out. After repairs mold was still under flooring which was never installed properly had bubbles from the day I moved in. Contractors moved my furniture and tore some of the cheap vinyl flooring. I just moved out the beginning of June and have already received a bill to replace flooring $799. and we are keeping deposit. Flooring has to replaced anyways and I was promised it was gonna happen before I moved out but of course never got replaced. Aga told me when I called sorry nothing I can do about it already reported it. I said previous manager said don't worry about it as well as maintenance supervisor. Aga response oh I don't have that communication. So since old manager winesome is gone and maintenance supervisor is gone I get the bill. After dealing with months of being sick from the mold, constant flooding, 3 different plumbing companies with 6 different techs in and out of my place for weeks.....what a slap in the face. The staff seemed nice at first. Once we moved out we got charged thousands of dollars "in damages" when it was normal wear in tear. They wouldnt provide proof of invoices on where they got their numbers from. Huge pyramid scheme and huge corporation that only cares about money. Lights were broken and after the Irma storm they never cleaned up the branches and trees behind the building were balconies are. The fitness center equipment is old, worn or broken, they never clean in the fitness center. Dust is inches thick on machines. They have 3 pools at least one will be closed on major warm holiday. We moved here two months ago and we have loved it ever since! It's a quiet apartment complex and the other people who live here are very kind, nice and respectful of the other people who live around them. The one downfall is the parking. If you're not home by 9-930pm, you have to park far away from your building, which isn't totally terrible but I don't like walking in the dark by myself without my husband. But we were told that management is coming up with a new parking strategy so we will see how that goes! read more

Only giving this place a one star because maintenance is okay here and pretty quick when you need them. Other than that, unless you like all types of bugs and roaches as roommates, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Everything is outdated. You can literally see into your walls because theres gaps between the baseboards and flooring. Roaches literally have come in and out of our walls due to that fact. No matter how clean you are, bugs will always show up. I literally walk into my kitchen at night and as soon as I turn the light on, I see 10 bugs fleeing to go under my stove and fridge. I've literally pulled both out and cleaned behind both of them. Theres holes everywhere that bugs can get in and out of. We pay every month for pest control yet it literally doesn't work what so ever. I think the only thing it has helped is the huge ant problem we had when we moved in. I had to set up ant killer traps in every bedroom when we moved in. I literally had dishes in my sink for MAYBE an hour and when I went to go wash them, there's 7 different bugs I had to kill that were all in my sink. It's just absolutely ridiculous. Every place will have bugs, I get that. But I have never seen such a huge bug issue in the 27 years I have been alive and I've lived in all different types of places. 0/10 for this place. Lived here for 2+ years, the past year was the worst renting experience of my life. Outdated units, Maintenance no shows, Flooded Floors from rain/old water heater. Vinyl Floor peeled back and tore up, rot and mildew, cabinets falling off hinges, wasps outside untreated. Aggressive pets aloud to roam and soil the property with feces. Management is a non factor (I honestly don't know what they do) All that being said when the lease was up they offered us a renewal at $200 more a month lol it's ridiculous. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They even hit us with $900 in damages after our $300 security deposit and we were told we had to pay for new carpet because they only replace it every 5 years!!!! GROSS. Apartment living isn't exactly luxury, so there's bound to be some bumps in the road, right? Absolutely! But this review isn't about the "grain of salt" scenarios. It is about the cold, hard truth. 10/30/20 I was told I needed to pick up my keys on October 30th after I signed my lease. The only problem was that I was heading out of town for Halloween. They told me it did not matter. I just needed to grab the keys. I got them and proceeded to leave after a quick walk around the apartment. 11/4/20 On November 4th, I moved into apartment 2701. In the process of moving, I found a total of 3 sewing needles sticking up in the bedroom carpet. How did I find them? By stepping on them. A super fun way to start my new living adventure. 11/11/20 In this part of Florida, hurricanes aren't that bad typically. We had a mild one move through on November 11th. I was still able to go about my every-day business in the rain. I came home after doing what I needed to do and my bedroom wall had failed to keep the water out. Water (somehow) came through the wall and soaked half of my bedroom carpet. I called the office with no answer. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and never got a call back. I spent two days drying out my room myself. Thanks for all the help guys. 11/30/20 Here's where it gets bad. My boyfriend spent the night and woke up completely covered in bug bites. As we investigated his welts, I looked up to see hundreds of bed bugs chilling on the ceiling. THE CEILING!!! (I have learned that apartments spray for bedbugs so often that they have adapted to living in places that don't get sprayed, such as the ceiling.) I called the office panicked. I asked them to send someone or what I should do. Their response: "I don't know, get some alcohol and spray or something. We'll call our exterminator Monday, but you have to cover the cost." Have the same exterminator who caused the problem try to fix it? Yeah right. So I researched and found an incredible exterminator. He came in and inspected before treating. He was shocked. There was more than 3 months worth of bed bug evidence in the apartment. I had only lived there for one month. $700 later, I could sleep peacefully. Why isn't the apartment liable? Remember my hectic move-in? They only allowed for 72 hours after receiving the keys to report any evidence of bed bugs. Well, I was out of town for that. 12/14/20 I have a lot of anxiety. About 5 years ago, my therapist recommended an Emotional Support Animal. I got a kitten and she is my pride and joy. I left her with my parents during quarantine and the move. It was finally time to bring her back since everything had settled down. I asked the office exactly what paperwork to submit for approval. I gathered everything I needed and sent it to the office through email. I brought Kylie up from Miami. Never got acknowledgement. Never knew if I was allowed to have her or not. 2/21/21 My amazon package containing props for my students' concert was stolen off of my door mat. 2/24/21 My replacement package was also stolen. At that point, I didn't have time to get anything else and my kids were devastated. 2/24/21 There were always problems with my toilet. This time, however, it overflowed and seeped underneath the wall of the bathroom, soaking the hallway. I called the office and was told they were sending someone immediately. After 45 minutes, I got in my car leaving my boyfriend just in case someone came, I bought stuff at Walmart to fix it, came home, and did it myself. No one ever came. 3/4/21 The toilet overflowed one last time before I moved out. I didn't flush it. The water just rose and flowed onto the floor out of nowhere. I bought a house. A gorgeous 2X2 house. I am happy now. I paid several thousand dollars to get out of my lease at Madison at Largo, and I don't regret it at all. DO NOT LIVE HERE. You will be miserable and frustrated. You will never get the help you already pay for. The office staff will be rude and deceiving to you. You will be miserable. Trust me. Nothing is renovated as stated all appliances are old, nasty, dirty, noisy, don't work and the plumbing is whack. ZERO amenities. If you think working plumbing is included....... it isn't. We moved into a German cockroach-infested apartment with zero privacy porch and no protection from the weather. The apartments are not energy efficient with crappy vertical blinds that fall off easily and are not replaced, my utility bill is $400 a month!!!!! The A/C never stops running, it can't keep the house cool with the very thin outdated windows. The maintenance personnel are null, the landscaping is NOT what the images show. This place is so rundown and below standard living conditions, in my opinion, and charging over $2400 a month while my neighbor who has lived here for 2 years is paying $1000 less to live in the exact apartment with the same issues and management doesn't even respond to most maintenance request in a timely manner. Took 2 weeks to show up to unclogged my tub so I could shower without wading in my own dirty water, I handled it myself but it needs doing again and again and probably again. I have been living in different apartment complexes for the last 14 years and combined before living here I have maybe submitted 3-4 maintenance requests in all those years. I have only lived here for 6 months and have had to submit 12 or more. At least 7 of these requests have been for my AC. It goes out almost every 2 weeks routinely. I have been told twice that someone would call me and address the root of the problem as apposed to just putting a 2 week bandaid on the issue. I made a request yesterday morning at 9:30am and followed up at 5:30pm because it was still over 80 degrees in my apartment. No one came to help & no one called. This is all in addition to paying the highest rent I have ever paid, having to call 3 times for my broken washer and twice for my broken sink drain that flooded my kitchen on 2 different occasions. just moved in a few weeks ago and I must say, I am fairly impressed so far. The place for as large as it is , very peaceful. The few neighbors i have met have been very friendly. The office staff has been most welcoming. I have had issues with people jumping the fence behind me - but they are working on resolving this with the police and security. About every 3 months we lose water. Usually it's only for a few hours then when you turn on the water a slug of black dirt comes out. Looks like we're going to be without water for the whole night tonight, yet they keep raising rents and charging more for water that is likely not going to be available. I give a two star because overall our experience has been good with our unit. I have lived here for 4 years now and the staff in the office has changed a few times and this new manager is by far the worst. Her professionalism is subpar to say the least and she likes to go out of her way even to harass residents to make herself look like she is competent. We had placed our rent in the overnight box by the on grounds gym last night as the office was closed. This afternoon around 5 we received a letter telling us to pay our rent with a $100 late fee or move out in 30 days. My fiancé went down to explain the check was dropped in the drop box the night before and if someone could check if it was overlooked. The condescending and combative attitude that was received was abhorrent and undeserved. An agreement was found and my fiancé left the office only for 15 minutes to pass and she received a call from the manager in essence shaming us for having 4 late fees. FOUR late fees over the course of 4 years of which we have always paid and never argued as it was our fault on the late payments. We went the same steps we have taken to pay the rent this month as we have for the last 48 months give or take a few. We have never had an issue with our check disappearing. This lady legit called to harass us and not help resolve anything. Very unprofessional to call a resident and shame them over past discrepancies that are completely unrelated in an attempt to continue her condescending attitude and stroke her ego as whoever she thinks she is. I truly hope they change ways but after 4 years of residence here I fear this will be our last. It is disgusting how this lady felt she needed to treat us. read more

Beware there is mold in these apartments, They have 3 pools and all of them are not kept clean and only one pool is usually open at a time. All of the appliances are out dated. They advertise laminate floors which these are the cheapest more like plastic that started lifting after two months of installing. Head of maintenance is terrible! They don't screen here. We also had some college age kids move in and have parties until like 2 AM, but the management seemed to take care of it so props to the management for doing that. No more 2 AM parties. My A/C Bill is reasonable and I crank it down to 72 at night. The only time I've seen roaches is when I've forgotten to clean really good for a month like when I was traveling. Sure, most of the women in the office are rude, but what do you expect from young, female apartment leasing agents? Every apartment complex that I've lived in has rude front office staff. Gimmick is actually the real name of this place. Sink holes in parking lot, constantly being repatched. Always a water or a\c issue. Also when moving out you may put ask your garbage in can. However if another IIS moving out and puts their garbage by can instead of inside it. They keep both of your deposits. Horrible parking situation, there's no room between vehicles. read more

We have spoken with the district office hoping they would help, but NO, they don't do shit. The electric bills here run 400 a month!! We lived here for over a year and enjoyed it. The office staff is friendly and helpful as is the maintenance crew. We had no problem with noise or parking. The complex is beautifully landscaped and the layout of the apartments very nice. The grounds are well maintained. The location great as it is 1 mile from Eagle Lake Park and 7 miles from the beaches. Walking distance of a super Wal-Mart. Schools nearby. Great complex. read more

DON'T MOVE IN THIS COMPLEX. This place is nasty and filthy. No rules at all. My house smells like smoke at all times because the neighbors do not understand that this is a community that we all share nor their private property. The stairs are always full of smoke ashes. I have been at the office and complained many times and nothing has ever been done. The manager of the complex tells me where would they smoke than? I don't know maybe she can take them in her own house so they can smoke there and not in my front door because is discussing. I have had to wash the carpet 5 times so far because is nasty from all the smoke ashes. The other neighbor plays rap music all night. No matter what you say to the manager she don't care. We moved into the complex in February 2015 from out of state and were unaware of the old owners and Chapperel. All I can is we were very happy living here. The management and maintenance crew really cared about the community and residents. Updates were being made, resurfacing the parking lots, etc. We've been here now for four and a half years. This past year has been extremely disappointing. The management has changed to GCS Properties and it's been a nightmare. The maintenance staff walked out, been through 4 property managers, and it's sadly obvious no one cares anymore. Trash is thrown in the direction of the dumpsters, teenagers get into the pool behind the leasing office every night and throw the chases into the pool and destroy the area. The courtesy officer is a joke. I've called numerous times and the few times my call was returned I was told to mind my own business. My lease is up in August and will not renew. I no longer feel safe here and feel sorry for the residents that are stuck here and can't go anywhere else. As long as GSC owns the property, stay away. I have also sent this as a survey to GSC and have seen nothing change for the better, only gotten worse. read more
